Great hands on demo! Not the usual youtube turn all the knobs to the right and hammer on it 15 fukin minutes! You showed me exctly what this little pedal is capable of . Got it in yesterday and the crunch and thickness on this thing is unreal...Sir I Thank You.
This is supposed to get that late 70s Marshall tone for that era music. Very tubescreamer like o have both the 78 can get pretty dirty just got to dial it in
I love this pedal on its own..great vintage Marshall JMP style tones like my 70's Super Leads. I use this pedal on my home rig, and experimenting, I stacked it with a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver...the way it responded was great..nice smooth gain without bonking out as you may expect with some distortion pedals. It's really in its own class..has an almost preamp like quality. MXR did very well. Extremely versatile, and I'd have no apprehensions recording with it for adding different color to my sound.
@Ken Severo Ha! It's actually not as bright as I thought it might be. I rolled the tones of both pedals to around 10:00, and it seems to tame the highs nicely...still need to play with your amp EQ a bit to dial in what's optimal for your ear/taste, but it's a great combo.
Funny, I had the same experience when I just started out. And I was actually thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. I tried it after Gearmanndude slayed it, couldn’t get it to sound any kind of ok. Still not the best, have had better, but you can definitely make it sound good with more technique and knowhow.
Pedal tone sounds really good. Not to mention very good playing as well!

Had this on the shelf for years. Never bonded with it but it does seem to play more nicely with darker sounding amps to balance it out.
This pedal really hits right for blues all the way up to metal. I love it.
Nice playing mate! exactly the demo i was looking for

Good demo,, your playing is great
Great review. Do try the MXR custom badass modified OD. M sure u will like it. Especially with single coils.
Amazing tone!I have to buy one.
Great for KISS tunes , good for early Metallica and Judas Priest too. Kinda JMP thing going on.
awesome review!
Nice lad very versatile it really fucking rocking
This pedal isn’t an aggressive distortion pedal and it mimic the distortion tones of the 70s and me like
I think the ‘78 refers to the Boss DS-1, which was first released in 1978.
It's definitely overdrive and not distortion.
I think this pedal would be best suited to modern punk genres that prefer that dirtier sounding distortion over say a fuzz or overdrive.
Amazing riff!
Has anyone noticed a kinda octave up “purple haze solo” sound when you stack an overdrive in front of this pedal?
It’s so good.
Great video thanks

hard clipping for days!
Actually that Metallica playin' was really badass :O
I have this. I'm not too impressed. Sounds good with a Boss SD1 in front of it though.
Stack to get where you want to go
I have it too with the MXR M77 Modified OD In front of it and it is a killer tone.
@@Det_Fan Similar I imagine.
with some actives, it might chug good
Fantastic playing but the tone's not for me.
Next episode's tone might be for you, stay tuned!
@@MusicBlissMalaysiaTV Thanks! I look forward to it.
