- I love machineguns. You love machineguns. Everyone loves machineguns. While I have some time shooting machineguns in Baghdad; you can never have ENOUGH time behind machineguns. So, when we were asking if we wanted to review a modern "Replacement" for the M240B Machinegun, we of course jumped at the chance. We loaded up the TR truck and headed out to Arizona to link up with the team from Daycraft Systems. They had a bunch of really innovative projects from lightweight machineguns, to miniguns, and yes, a 50 caliber chain-gun!!!
Modern replacement? What does that mean? Lighter is ALWAYS better; we want MLok to add accessories & optics; and we need reliability. Enter the FMG762 from Daycraft Systems. While there is a light-weight version of the M240 currently in service, it has HALF the life cycle of a normal 240. The Daycraft FMG762 is half the weight, but still maintains that longer life cycle. Lighter is better, especially when moving dismounted. This puppy was a total joy to shoot and maneuver with.
The Daycraft FMG 762 machinegun can be used with any current US machinegun mounting systems currently being used by the military, to include to include vehicle, maritime, and aircraft mounts. For our military viewers out there, internationally and here at home; if you are looking at modernizing your machinegun fleet, you need to check this bad ass puppy out!!! I WISH I had one of these back in Iraq. It is AWESOME.
For the rest of us "Civilians" without access to our own machineguns; well, I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed filming it. Hopefully, some day soon, the NFA will be dropped, and I'll be right there in line to get my hands on a couple of these!!!

That is amazing how much weight they trimmed off of it and still maintain the parts interchangeability with the 240. Now that’s sexy!
thats really innovative and smart
Tactical awesomeness. Oh hell yeah!
This is exactly what needs to be done. Not reinventing the wheel like sig is trying or that crazy new going to fail 50 cal. I would have loved to rocked one of these weight savers.
Who doesn’t love the sound of a machine gun!!! B roll was top notch in this one!
🙋♂️ 😂 I love the sound so much when I use to fire it the M60 I would take my ear plugs out just to listen to it better but now I say WHAT You Say to everyone I talk too 😂😂
Glad to see that the knees are getting healed
Video was made pre op
Will be interesting to see if these get fielded by line units how they hold up.
Even though the sig mg-338 is 21lbs bare kicking it up to .338 seems like a good deal. That is considering price isn’t an issue. Biggest thing with the 240b is how battle tested it is, mk48 being used more with special forces than general infantrymen hindering it a little without the grunt knowledge. Interesting to see all these new contenders for US and NATO forces. Keep up the good work Karl 🤙🏼
Best "Legit" improvements I seen so far🇺🇲💪
I'm glad I am not the only one using my nose when examining the action!
“Good gugly mugly that’s freedom right there.” 💥😂 🇺🇸
Get some! You guy's rock 💪
:::Fat Gunner breathing intensifies:::
I have to fire one of these at least once in my life
How's it really compare to the MK48? My unit got to use some MK48's back in 2011.
The M240 is a heavy mofo...then add that 1000 rounds to lug around...spare barrel...tripod if you are in a really sucky job.
Life-Cycle in a lab isn't the same as in the field...
Regardless, that they are trying to improve is still great.
🇺🇸
So basically like a sleeved billet aluminum drag race engine block? That's pretty smart! I wonder if you can do that to the M2?

Whoooo! Little Pig looks sweet! I'd love to fire that Little Piglet!
This is a game charger. Light with interchangeable part. Great video content thank you for sharing new technology’s.
Thanks for watching!
Honestly this is the way forward. We can field some of the experimental crazy stuff in new innovative calibers/control systems of course because that's how you find out what to do next but really in terms of what we can do *right now* the key is lightening what we have. Lots of tech for making weapons weigh less is coming in from multi material designs to even topological optimization (look into that it's really cool, imagine putting in all the stress points the gun needs to be strong on a computer and having it figure out exactly which parts of the gun needs to be beefier or can be smaller without detriment using what basically amounts to evolution) using additive manufacturing. The point I would really like to make is that this process could have some implications for weapon systems we tend not to think about much. Just how light could we make a fight lite MCR design for example? I'm gonna go ahead and say a whole hell of a lot based on what I've seen of it and it already weighs just 10 pounds... Not a huge stretch to really drop that low. If the weight of a practical 5.56 dual feed weapon gets low enough does it become practical to have more of those in each unit? It seems like if it were light enough it could be a stupid big increase to base of fire especially in the first 60 seconds of a fight because you could theoretically run around with a belt in it on a nutsack and use that at the start of an engagement then just reload with a normal ass mag when it's time. Sure it can be argued that we could just lighten up the standard infantry rifle instead but as all of these weights get lower the real weight to weight difference between weapon systems becomes smaller and smaller. This isn't even mentioning what we might be able to do about mag and belt weight...
they let you guys awesome again
Can see various new parts being “accidentally “ installed on older models. If not issued one I would pilfer every lightweight mod I could. 😂
MK48 has more common than PKM than its stablemate M240 but it hasn't been that impressive when compared to PKM while M240 is an entirely different category. In western or similarly influenced militaries are trying to get weight of their mg down while Russians especially in their special units are trying to get a more robust PKM ie PKP as they found out that PKM doesn't have the robustness if one doesn't have the time to change barrel during fire fights. Usually special forces firefights are short and fierce with lots of rounds. So they opted for much heavier mg but without the barrel changing ability. This still puts PKP within the M240L category. The barrel change in PKM is kinda hassel, so it also became one of the contributing factor in PKP. How all these modernized platforms compared to new generation of sub 17 pounds or 7kg machine guns in terms of reliability, carrying ability sustained and intense firepower remains to be seen or if being used the reports are still not out in the open.
Agreed. Thanks for sharing, TR
Can you make vidio about machine gun gears setup please
Could you consider reviewing Barret's M240LW mmg? Not the compact LWS, but the larger M240LW. Seems like a good alternative to this, while still upgrading the M240L as we wait on the NGSW LWMMG.
5k views, how in the AMERICAN hell is there not 5k likes!
A lighter 762 MG than the 240 would be appreciated by many as long as it is reliable
nothing better than suppressive fire
Is the Dagger any good?
Nice.
Radical firearms makes a suppressor for the 240 and it is stupid quiet.
What suppressor were you using on you Beautiful🤤M240B?
What is the cyclic rate for the FMG762?
Book says 550-650 same as a 240
good stuff!
🙋♂️ So what was wrong with my M60 Pig ? Where did it go , Nobody puts Piggy in the corner 😂👍👌✌️🫡🇺🇸
Denmark is using an upgraded version M60E6
Been a long time since I repaired these and no more free ammo 😮
🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲
Hell yes
when is the toyota tacoma mount coming out for these?
Neat! So company the FMG 762 to the Mk 48 (any model), which is better?
I’m not big on the Mk 48… this puppy seems really sturdy
So I'm curious about the cost. If it cost three times as much then... Pretty cool blaster though.
Almost certainly 4x the price.
But likely cheaper than the Titanium receiver M240L
What's the price point? Update Nvm Im going with Ohioordnance, but he did a great job explaining the firearm.
Fuck yeah
Can the gun handle the recoil of the Army’s new round?
the only way to make this more rad would be to offer barrels in 6.8x51
No
More cluster for the fest.
This could have been a 30 second video. 😂 “So, what we did was make a 240, but aluminum. And we gave it an M60 bipod instead of the lightweight M240H bipod.”😅
PkM paratrooper is 16 lbs, made in the 1970s.
Should've copied that and made it 3-0 H8
Is anybody making lighter weight ammo belts or links? How about lighter weight ammo cans?
Someone say 240..........
Gawd
Make a semi-auto version and sell to civilians.
I hope small arms design can produce a belt fed gun that uses RPGs as the ammo
💐🌹👍
Already obsolete since the ngsw xm250 is going to be in service soon.
I disagree. The 277Fury has been having lots of issues. Even if fielded tomorrow; it will be multiple decades before NATO walks away from 7.62x51mm.
Everything is very nice except for that heat shield design. You can't quickly swap the barrel while this thing is on.
I was thinking the same thing but if it's on a T&E or pintle you really don't need it.
Agree. Why not just drop it to more weight?
🙌🤘💪🤙🇺🇸
"fully automated machine gun" is rather long winded way of saying... machine gun.
Has this new MG gone through field trials?
The original M-16 was very lite. So much so that under harsh use the barrel could get bent and the high stress points on the upper and lower could crack.
By “high stress use”, do you mean some dumb private using it to open ammo crates? That seems to be the most common reason the barrels bent on the old xm16e1.
@@Front-Toward-Enemy -- actually, as an example, I was thinking of the M-16 in Vietnam when guys were trying to stay alive in the jungle and in the process tripping and falling on their weapon,
Same barrels as the M240
@@toddb930Knowing Privates, id imagine many of those “the barrel is bent because i fell” stories are made up.
