You can keep this hairstyle for a week if you seal it off with holding spray (might need touch ups if your hair is exposed to water). You don’t have to wash it off on the same day, unless that’s what you prefer doing. Just wear a silk like scarf/doek before going to bed and it will be maintained(I wear 3 doeks). First attempts don’t always turn out how we expect them to . Perhaps you can try again and you’ll get different results. Be patient with yourself and you’ll get it right with time 🌸.

How long does the hairstyle last before it starts to flake? (That is if it actually does flake)

I prefer to keep this for a week. It lasts longer if you use holding spritz and if your styling products have good holding properties.
The longest I’ve kept a ponytail is two weeks( with touch ups).A white cast/residue will occur if you keep reapplying products onto the initial style, no flaking. So to avoid that, just sprits water along the edges and wipe with a cloth and reapply the products. Wear a scarf to lay the hair and it will be fine.

How long does the gel and wax last on your hair? Cause it really looks amazing
Hi Thobeka…with holding spray I can keep it for a week. Minor touch ups might be needed if I expose my hair to water. If I decide to keep it for two weeks I sprits water(mainly in the front and back, depends on the position of the ponytail) remove the product along the edges and reapply and wear my silk scarf. Hi Katie. I air dry. I usually do my hair in the evening, wear the head wraps and go to sleep. The hair is dry when I wake up. It dries quicker when the products are balanced out. Don’t use too much gel (just enough). 🌸

Hi Erica. My sleek ponytails can last for a week with holding spray (touch ups might be needed if exposed to water). However, some people can keep it for up to two weeks long. I’d say 2 weeks is enough.

Hi did you put any oil before adding gel and wax
Hi Sis. No I didn’t. I had washed and moisturised my hair 2 days prior, so it was moisturised, all I did was dampen it. You can lightly moisturise your hair. Don’t go in with too much moisturiser, it might clash with gel and wax and cause a white cast or be too oily to lay the hair. You can use hair spray(not too much). I hope this helps.
