Worst Band Ever Butchers Eric Clapton

  • This is the band that rose to RUclips fame in "Worst Band Ever Butchers Pink Floyd" • Worst Band Ever Butche... This song preceded "Comfortably Numb" in their set. It's Cocaine by Eric Clapton.
    This was performed at a music store during a breast cancer awareness benefit show. It should be noted that the store owner has always been a big supporter of all local musicians (both good and bad) and even gave me a chance to do some awful stand up (see my other video "Worst Comedian Ever").
    The band doesn't have a name, but I've been calling them Hobby Lobotomy. And yes, this is real and not staged.

    Another brilliant spin on a rock and roll classic from this talented bunch. This one alternates between a 3.73/29 and eleventy-four/8 time signature with multiple tempo changes, featuring a calculated, microtonal solo. The vocalist explores microtones as well throughout the piece. True pioneers, I'd say.

      Since Cocaine does not heighten awareness and "Pink" is not the Color, of Awareness, nor is it the Color, of "Money" ( an other Pink Floyd Song) and Money is not what Doctors/Hospitals/Pharmaceutical Companies bleed Cancer Patients dry, of, until the Patient is dead ( i.e. "Comfortably Numb") and/or wishes they were dead (i.e. "Comfortably Numb") because the word, on the street is that Cancer Treatment (Chemotherapy and the like) is quite uncomfortable. Now, if only i could figure out, how "Cocaine" and "Comfortably Numb" are related to Boob Cancer and/or Cancer Awareness, in any way, shape or form....

      Knowing your better than this doesn't mean you're "...a pretty decent guitarist". You may be, but this not the standard I'd use to judge by. BTW, we all have or had bad gigs and bad bands.....

      LOL it's pretty bad, but I don't think it's thaaaaat bad. Hahaha, at least I definitely heard (and done :P) worse. And it doesn't matter how good you are, it's still impossible to play well if the individual who's hitting the drumkit has no clue how to play drums.

    If someone gave you an unlimited budget, you could not produce more hysterically funny versions of this song and their signature classic, Comfortably Numb. You could produce bad versions, but not versions that would be so funny/bad that they’d get this kind of attention on RUclips. So in a twisted sense, these guys have a certain kind of talent.

    both the guitarist and bassist look like music students not really good at all but have this huge passion for music, like the way they place their fingers, no feeling at all, just trying to do everything by the book because thats what they think they have to do to become a good musician

    • @jaredgonzales9617
      @jaredgonzales9617 10 лет назад +9

      YES. Oh man, you dissected that perfectly.
      One of the worst mistakes a beginner makes, that can sometimes lead to bad practice/bad habits as demonstrated above, is they'll usually strum down 4-8 times pretty quickly, then stop strumming as their other hand forms the next chord, let out another burst of down strums, stop strumming at the next chord change...etc. So then the song becomes dependent upon the rhythm guitar and at what rate that person can make chord changes, which does nothing to help that drummer get any better.
      Which is why the main thing I always tell beginners is to work on the rhythm of their strumming hand. To keep it constant, and move your fret hand to the next chord and continue to strum regardless if they have the next chord in the sequence all the way formed or not. It may not sound the greatest since the chord isn't yet formed completely, but you are learning to continue with the beat of the song and eventually you'll get faster at making the next chord change out of fear of it sounding terrible.
      (I am in no way a music instructor, but have found that this helped me when I began years ago and has helped many other people as well)

      i picked up my dads right handed guitar and started playing lefty on it because i am, and it just came naturally, so my mom bought me a lefty electric guitar, and i consider myself pretty good ive been playing for 14 years, but i remember starting, metallica was my favorite thing to jam, and i had it pretty good, but i had these 2 friends who took lessons because guitar playing back in the day was the ''style'' or cool thing to do, but jamming with them took the fun straight out of it... they never had no feeling like always had to fuck up because they were trying too hard, one played his riffs like square, cube robotic feeling and the other played exactly like the guitarist with the cap, one big strum, then places his fingers for the next chord then another lazy big strum while looking at me with his tongue sticking out thinking he's awesome and he's feeling it and im feeling it too... like wtf go and sit down......ahhhh nice to reminisce

      BloodyandEnchained hahahahaha great story!
      I remember a couple very similar incidents in high school, when I tried "jamming" with my friends who've taken lessons. They'd always want to know what key or what chords I was playing. I had learned to play by ear, power chords, and the miracle of punk rock (which basically was a "do what you want" sort of mentality when it came to music), so I had not a single clue what to tell them except, "Just make something up, whatever sound good".
      Needless to say, those jam sessions never went that well.
