Ran a few, but only 1 mountain one (Capadoccia 64km), which absolutely amazing, rough, painful, but incredible. Just was wondering which Sportwatch you’re using. Are the UTBM affiliated races on GPS navigation or marked along the way? Did a 100km trail a few weeks ago and my Garmin 945 couldn’t stomach more than 200 way points. Respect for your race, looked brutal & fun. Keen to learn more from you on the watches as well.
Absolutely brilliant video! Loved Tobias - his enthusiam, determination, honesty & positivity even when feeling negative! Can we have video interview with Tobias, please? Inspirational & joyful - thank you Tobias!
I love the fact that every distance runner would have similar thought throughout the race. "I'm ruined". I'm dead". "I'm stupid". "Why am I doing this?". "I could have been sleeping all day long but now I'm wasted". "I should stop doing this again, please!". Surprisingly we look up for a next race once that particular race is over! 😆 Apart from that, as an ultra marathoner myself who had participated in that similar race distance, I really enjoyed every moment of your video. How every details reminisced about the true experience I once had. Happy recovery! Love from 🇲🇾
Great coverage of an extraordinary achievement, 🍺 more than deserved! Please keep these ultra running videos coming, combined with gear reviews, really loving it.
Loved this! I have no desire whatsoever to run this far, but I am always absolutely fascinated by people who do and their experience. Well done Tobias - you will inspire me in a couple of weeks doing my very first 10k!
10:23 "I think my cat peed on my Buff" .Sorry Tobias but I couldn't stop laughing!!! But the best bit was "The one thing I don't do is quit" Positive self reinforcement-excellent!
Thanks Ken. I just couldn't understand why my buff stank of piss. And then when I got home, I discovered my cat had got inside of my bag before I left. Had no idea. Was awful to discover I'd been whining my face in a pee infested buff! Very upsetting!!!
Wow! I`m utterly impressed! I’m a flatlander, and I actually had to google the highest peak in the region where I live in Finland. 130 meters, and around here we’re happy if we find a 20 meter ascent for hill training. Well done Tobias! 👏👏👏❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Well, instead of the joys of vertical running we get to enjoy a lot of trail running in the forest, with a lot of different oppurtunities when it comes to distance, difficulty and the company of various animals. Thankfully, bears and elks aren’t that interested in company 😂😂😂
It's great to see you comment, I've been rewatching your pass videos on glute activation. You haven't uploaded in while hope your well. Thank you for great content 😊
Incredible effort! I've watched a lot of ultra content and I am so impressed how cheerful and positive you stayed, even when you were lying down :D I'm currently following The Running Channels marathon plan for my first marathon but would love to attempt an ultra one day! Great video, thanks!
Thank you !! I love running. And I love running ultra marathons. It pushes me out of my comfort zone and puts me in places that I wouldn't ordinarily go. And then to be given the chance to film it all and have someone else do the editing. And I love the Pyrenees. Gosh - there are so many reasons for smiling. The funny thing is that I'm surprised how cheerful I look in some of my 'I'm dying' moments. I thought my face would have looked more tortured! 😃
@@TobiasMews The Pyrenees certainly look incredible! So refreshing to see your positive experience of an ultra! Please do some more videos! :) And yes, I agree with you, your "I'm dying" moments looked incredibly cheerful for what I'm sure was a tremendously tough time! Thanks!
Great comment in there - ‘I don’t give up - need to get going’, that’s what it’s all about…fantastic effort…one of these 100% on my bucket list…totally inspiring stuff!
Brilliant video and even though I’ve never done anything close to this, the emotions are familiar to anyone who’s ever done a longer race or even a long hike that takes you out of your comfort zone. Well done!
Watching this after my cruelsome 30 km long run today. I'd really love to do an ultra one day, however, I'm pretty sure I would lie down - and never get up again 😂 too painful! Kudos to you!
Tobias couldn't be more pleasant. Even in his most difficult moments, he is still cheerful and uplifting. I'd run with him anytime. He'd probably help any of us enjoy our runs that much more.
I felt I almost run myself the route. what a story. This will be my ultimate goal. Right now my knees hurts and I can not run one km. I believe it will get healed soon. Tobias you are a legend
Thanks so much for watching! So sorry to hear about your knees, but hope they heal soon! Get yourself a good pair of poles as they can help absorb some of the impact too 😊
Thank you. Sometimes the best way to run an ultra is to simply enter one and then figure it all out afterwards. Most of it's in your head. Although it does help to have a little running experience beforehand! 😃
This was a great watch. The scenery was awesome. Tobias is refreshingly honest in his style: it’s a slog sometimes... I really enjoyed this video. More please! P.x
Oh wow - massive congratulations Tobias - bravo 🙌…… god I could actually taste how good that beer was …… brilliant vlog and under such circumstances …… even more of an achievement I probably couldn’t even find my mouth after 10k let alone film over 105 of the buggers ! Thanks for the vid guys :) x
Just subscribed because this was such an entertaining and fun video. Very motivating! Racing an 80k myself in three weeks! I understand the struggles. Good job.
The most I've done so far is a 50km trail race with 2000M of elevation gain. This guy was awesome and honest. Love your ultra vids or any with Allie Bailey
Awesome work Tobias. I completed my first ultra on the 1st of this month. A somewhat easier 70km with 1950ft of elevation. I found it mentally tough, but like your good self, I couldn’t quit. Had to talk myself back into it a few times. Great video, inspiring stuff 👍🏻
Thank you!! Too kind. Got to stay motivated - otherwise why do we do it to ourselves. I occasionally think - it would be much easier to run 5ks. But then I'd be missing out on the beautiful scenery you get on a 105km run in the Pyrenees!
Thank you Jen! It was brutally savage. Way harder than I imagined it would be. And certainly less runnable than the original UTMB. But bloody good all the same.
Thank you! All credit should go to the brilliant editor at the Running Channel and Javi the cameraman! I just waved a GoPro about the place. Nothing difficult there!!! 😃
Absolutely incredible, great job! Loved this video, a brutal challenge in a gorgeous place, and handled with great spirit and graciousness. I've got my 3rd 50k, but my 1st mountain ultra, in 2 weeks. I've been nursing a sore Achilles, so a finish under the cut off is all I'm hoping for. I'll be watching this again the night before!
Hi Kelly. Such lovely words. Has made me smile. Thank you. Best of luck in your race in 2 weeks. Just keep moving, stay positive and have a briefcase of solutions for every problem you might come across (hot spot on foot, then stop and sort out, etc). You'll be great!

Amazing run and video! You must have had a fit camera person for the first part and great drone shots. I had the utmb in my sights back in 2012/13 but never got there. My 72km 10 peaks in the lakes took me 21 hours back when I was fit🤣🤣
Have you ever run a mountain ultra? Do they look horrible or fun? Let us know in the comments!
As I have been saying. I like the idea of running ultras. But I still haven’t done a regular marathon yet.
Never ran a mountain ultra, or any ultra really. I have hopefully done my first 50K in two weeks time. The mountain ultras look both horrible and fun.
30km trail with 1500m elevation is the biggest I've ever done... and that was enough!
And well done Tobias!
Plenty of ultras. Really fun! There are also "easy" ones. But still gorgeous. Did a bunch of videos as well. I really enjoy these race reports.

Can we take a minute to appreciate the camera man?! The B-roll was amazing, the content on this channel keeps getting better
Couldn't agree more Carolina. The cameraman is Javier Salinas and he's a total legend! Followed me around for 24hrs non-stop. Deserves a medal!
