    Would you say the Parlux Advance Light is suitable for fine/thin hair? I read that you should aim for a lower wattage hairdryer (around 1800watt) when you have fine hair, but the Paralux hairdryer is around 2200watt.

    Great review but It’s also supposed to cut down drying time and make the hair smother and shinier due to the ionic ceramic technology.... I’m surprised you didn’t mention any of that in this review.

    A very helpful and interesting review. Thanks very much. I'm about to buy this hair dryer but I wanted to know a bit more about it. Thanks!

    How are you finding the longevity of this dryer? I had the 385 and it broke after 8 months. its disappointing that parlux don't offer a year warranty.

      +Joshua Brown Oh really that's disappointing to hear, I've never had a problem with them before. They should offer a warranty and if you're in the EU you'll get one by law, so it might be worth contacting them? I still use my 385 and this one daily, though I do keep the 385 at home now and just use it for private clients. I've had the Advance for going on 6 months now and used it daily and it seems okay so far! Previously I had the 3200 for about 3 years and never had a problem with that either. I'd really try contacting them and see what they say.

      Lemon/Soda Yeah really disappointing! a few of the stylists I work with have the 3200 and that does go on for years! I contacted them when it broke and they said it was out of the 6 month warranty so nothing they could do

    By the way, have you tried the Dyson hair dryer? It is awfully expensive. Do you think it is worth spending so much money on a hair dryer? I don't think so but yet, I am not a professional, that's why I'd love to know your opinion. I've got long hair. It's fine hair but I've got a lot so it takes me ages to dry it. :( But maybe I'd do with the Parlux. If you can let me know what you think I'd be grateful forever. Thanks. :)

      do not waste your time or your money on Dyson Dryers. They might need to wait till they decide what they will specialize in. Whether vacuum cleaners or hair appliances. If you are looking for long-lasting items definitely Dyson won't be your product of choice. I had 12 of these and I did not purchase any of them. My company supplied professionals with tools and they required us to use this Brand. Just one more thing to worry about, since we had to replace defective dryers every 4 to 6 months. I guess they had a special deal with Dyson but even this does not justify the efficiency and the durability of these products when you have a squad of people working for you. Disappointing.☹

    thank you for this review - i have been looking at reviews for this blow dryer and yours is the most informative. Ive whittled my choices down to this one, the 385 and the GHD Air. What do you think of the GHD Air? Which would you say was the best out of the Parlux 385 and GHD Air?

    • @LemonSodaHair
      @LemonSodaHair  7 лет назад

      +Goldie Luxe I like the GHD air, it's a really nicely built dryer and is quality. My one gripe would be the weight, it is very heavy in comparison to the Parlux. It's largely personal preference because some people like the weight, but I prefer as light as possible. I don't own one but colleagues and friends do and I've used them a fair bit. I heard GHD have a newer dryer out that weighs less which I'm keen to check out, but I don't know the current price. At this price point, for me I'd go Parlux, simply for the light weight and because I trust the brand. I've used them for years and never had a problem.

      Goldie Luxe Hi, I bought the Parlux, the GHD air is good but it's heavy and it's not working on me for 8 years now it's been running. The GHD can get extremely hot I don't think it's worth the price which I paid.

    Hi, could you help me please? What is the weight of your hair dryer? I've received mine today and popped it on the scales - 485gr instead of claimed 380gr. The same model as yours.

    • @LemonSodaHair
      @LemonSodaHair  7 лет назад

      Hi! Sorry for the late reply! They're really tricky to weigh as I'm sure they weight them without the cable attached which is really hard to do without taking it apart at home and really hard to weigh accurately with it attached... I laid mine on a flat digital scale, on its side and held the cable so that the weight was in my hand rather than on the scales and got a pretty accurate weight measurement, but I admit, it is tricky!

    Just got mine today and on the high setting it flips the shop’s circuit breaker. 2200w seems to be too much for the electrical on this shop lol.

    I'm getting mine tommorow 😀, I've always been using the 'spare' drier, and I've had enough of it. Do I got my own. I hope I'm not dissapointed(though the orange colour is pretty much the only reason. I got it :p

      Hopefully you'll love it! I was trying my best to not sound like a shill in this video, but genuinely I just think they're the best I've used. Let me know how you get on either way! And yeah, the colours are nice, I always fancied the red one, but I'm too self conscious for all that! lol

    I've just purchased this hairdryer. I have the GHD its lasted for 8 years, but now the motor is dying out, it gets incredibly hot.

      Awesome, I'm a big fan of Parlux. Let us know how you get on with it :) I'm also interested in the perspective of someone who used the GHD regularly, as I'm the opposite and use the GHD only occasionally. Cheers!

    • @ellemore733
      @ellemore733 7 лет назад

      Your welcome! GHD, was far too hot secondly heavy and third the cool setting wasn't ever 'cool' always remained warm. In terms of styling hair I found it ok, but again very hot. After 8 years the hairdryer was so hot my hair wasn't actually drying just burning! The Parlux is beyond my expectations. My hair is shiny, softer, dries quicker and is so light to hold. It also has lessened the time I spend drying. It arrived in a plain box no airs or graces but actually I like that because unlike GHD which came really boxed up well, Parlux don't need to overcompensate because it's got everything. I'll never turn back. Parlux is by far the professional hairdryer out of the two. GHD are very good but they'll never be Parlux x

    I was really saving up to buy one of these, but I heard they have a penchant for burning out and even blowing up quite quickly. The main reason I was looking into upgrading to a professional grade hair dryer was in the hopes that the motor would live up to longer use. I find it quite disappointing that parlux only offer 1 year warranty as well; even most basic consumer hair dryer come with at least 2 years, a babyliss advertises even 5 years to one of their dryers; Update: I ended up buying a Babyliss Torino, which despite also having a 1 year warranty, it's part of their "professional" (so not casual consumer) range, it's also made in Italy, it's reasonably light-weight and cost only 26 pounds (because it's a fairly old model), and I am quite chuffed with it. Considering that I moved from a travel hairdryer with just 1 heat and speed setting this transition was more palatable than a Parlux. I'll definitely give Parlux a go when my budget will allow it though

    could you tell us what your top three favorite dryers are? Thanks!!!

    • @LemonSodaHair
      @LemonSodaHair  7 лет назад +1

      Hi! Thanks and good question! Hmm.. In no order I'd say..
      1. This or the Parlux 385 power light
      2. Elchim 3800 (Elchim have a new dryer called the 8th sense which I'm keen to get hold of to try, they're another quality dryer brand)
      3. Despite its weight, The GHD AIR is a nice dryer with really good build quality. I'd take a close look at the the new AURA they released as it's lighter than the old AIR, which was imo the only thing that was letting it down, but I haven't had a hands on with it yet. I'd include it simply for it's quality build, it's like a tank....
      Hope that gives you some ideas! Thanks for your comment!

      Hi Just to let you know, I've managed to secure a dyson dryer and will be making a video and writing a review after I've put it through it's paces in a professional setting ASAP! Thanks for the suggestion!

    • @AnUrbanGypsy
      @AnUrbanGypsy 8 лет назад

      +Lemon/Soda I look forward to seeing it. It will be interesting to see how it would work for a professional as it does have a very short barrel so you can't really drape the hair over it when blow drying and you also have to hold it where the motor is housed. Hope it doesn't have vibrations or your hand could be numb by the end of the day. Perhaps it's just for a rich consumer rather than a business tool. We will see. Thank you.

    I just bought the Advance Light and I sent it back because I did not like the new soft touch switches, they feel less tactile to me. I actually prefer the more audible clickiness of the old switches. I also did not like how they went back to the old nozzle attachment system, I think the system they used on the Power Light was MUCH better because you can easily swivel the nozzle around. Ah well I suppose they cannot please everyone but I have to say I was disappointed so I sent it back.

    • @LemonSodaHair
      @LemonSodaHair  7 лет назад

      Yeah, I wondered if it was just that the switches of my 385 had worn in, or if the different feel was actually the soft switches. I tend not to mess with my nozzle too much so that's been okay for me, but I can see how it would stress others out, it is a really tight fit. What did you go for instead out of interest? I'm always keen to check out alternatives to what I'm currently using!

      I also dislike the new nozzle attachment! It is like the older Parlux and does not swivel easily... but no one else has mentioned that?
