My husband had a heart attack recently and we almost lost him. I love Christy Moore but had never heard this song till recently. It makes me cry but it's also beauitiful. We live in Scotland but I am Irish. Just a beautiful song that spoke to me. We have a crew if two and four beautiful grandweans. So very blessed.

Taking a chance I took my girlfriend to see Christy at The Royal Court Liverpool 1980. We were only a few dates in and she was a soul and disco type but I thought I’d gave it a try. 44yrs later and this is our tune.
Well now that our kids have moved on and on their own voyage we are on our next voyage together. We’re onboard our narrowboat on the uk canal system.
Life is truly a voyage and you’ve gotta make the best of it.

My parents song. I watched them slow dance to this so many times. It’s going to be my first dance song now.
I remember first time we saw Christy around 1980 at the Royal Court Liverpool we were courting and it was amazing just being there and listening to the audience singing along - we were 20 and 18yrs old and pretty new to the folk scene. Married in 1984 and celebrating our 40 years soon.
“The Voyage” is our song and is a mirror of our life. Our crew have flown the nest now and we actually live aboard our own narrowboat seeing out our last voyage.

Never fails to fill my daft soft eyes. We gain a depth and vastness over the years with our soulmate BUT only if the arrow of time is honestly and openly aimed at all encountered especially the targets that may be tough to break through. A tiny dishonesty as that arrow flys from the bow will NEVER be a tiny distance from our intended emotional security and that one of a kind permeating love.
