This was a cool video and I learned some new tricks. Always helpful to watch someone else's processing workflow, so thanks for sharing!
Just a quick comment though, seems like with the mask it would be easier to fill the mask black with the paint bucket and then use a white paint brush to expose the part of the image you want sharpened, rather than the other way around. Just a little point for others that may make things easier when only trying to impact a small portion of the image.
    Thanks, keep the videos coming!

For sure I was just showcasing how the brush feature works and giving an example of using it in reverse. I very rarely paint the entire area black I’ll usually paint most of it black and some areas white so the paint bucket wouldn’t be any more efficient in that situation.
Just showing different concepts, I did finally put out my first full link tutorial and it was on Photoshop. It’s close to an hour long and it goes through my whole workflow. There’s no way to do it on a video that’s “RUclips length”. I posted it separate from the channel.

Excellent video, love the photoshop section. Might of mentioned how you got your starless image, StarXTerminator or Starnet++, I use the latter. Been a decades long photoshop user since photoshop 3.0 and that’s no CS. Your info was spot on. Look forward to more videos from you. Been into gazing since I was 10, 67 now lol. But just started back into photography last year. Did a little with film in the 90’s, pain in the butt so got away from it. Use a 12” LX200 with a Canon 60D. Looking to get the AM5 and the ASIair, next year.

That’s awesome. I like to do a little videography on the side besides the RUclips channel as well. I use StarXterminator, I had a hard time with my Mac. It’s got the newer silicon chip. I think at the time it wasn’t working with them and so I just got StarX. I use all of his other stuff. I actually prefer topaz sharpening in Photoshop though. I did a comparison video if you want to check that out a little while back comparing the.Denoise and sharpening from RC - Astro (BlurX and NoiseX) vs topaz Denoise and sharpening. I found I liked RC Astro for noise but topaz a little bit more for sharpening but both do a great job and if you go with one or the other you can’t go wrong.
I have the AM5, and like many ZWO products they look good and work good… for a while. If you are a heavy user of your equipment, meaning you shoot multiple times a week I find that there’s stuff tends to have issues within ~ 6 months or so I’ve had to replace a couple motherboards (camera and EFW) and an ASI air already. Now the amount is having guiding spikes. Other people are starting to have it too so maybe hold off a bit I might do a video when I figure out a solution. I’m working with them now.
The bigger issue with the company is their customer service is not very good… They have a two-year warranty but have managed to not honor it. The three times I’ve needed it on products that were almost brand new and failed due to absolutely no fault on my end.
I’m not to the point where I tell people not to buy their stuff, but if they don’t take care of me again, or the six ends up being costly on the mount that will be the straw that broke the camels back so stay tuned I’ll update with a quick video when I have a solution.

Nice, I have been doing the high pass sharpening for months long before I started using Pixinsight and BXT. I thought I was crazy for still using PS . I need to learn more about masks.. Excellent job.

      @darkrangersinc  Год назад +1

Yeah high pass is known especially if you’ve been using PS for a while but a lot of folks who are mostly in Pixinsite may not have heard. I don’t think it’s possible to do all the things you can in PS in Pixinsite and if you can it’s not as easy so I use both!
Glad it was helpful and yeah masks are totally non destructive and once you get the concept become pretty easy at first it seems weird but after a few times it’s second nature

Your channel is coming along really well The content you are creating is excellent and entertaining as well

Thank you that really means a lot. It’s hard to keep these processing tutorials interesting so I thought I’d have a little fun at the beginning!
I try to pack a lot of stuff into a 20 minute video. I know most people don’t sit through all of it but if you do, you’ll get a few takeaways that’s my goal!
hoping to grow the channel enough to be able to attract distributors to lend out some gear that I can do reviews on. I know that tends to be very valuable.

Great video, very useful, Thanks. Pretty novice PS user, learned a ton using it for AP. Instead of having to move the star layer into correct position, have you tried "select all", "copy" then "paste" the star image as a layer onto starless image? (ctrl A, ctrl C, ctrl V for Windows) The star layer ends up in the correct position.

When you drag it, it immediately locks into place. It has that magnetic type feature where it wants to send her the image for you. It only takes a couple seconds so I usually just do that I export them as identical crop and rotation so they match up well.
I did just put out my first full length tutorial it’s not on RUclips but it’s an hour long I’m just Photoshop it’s my complete workflow and is a lot more in-depth than this video. If you want to check it out the link is in the channel bio 👍🏼
