I have really been enjoying watching your videos and am ready to take the plunge on wall art. I ran into a roadblock with Creative Fabrica though. I emailed them to ask if I put in a background and added text to their elements if I could use as a digital download for wall art. They replied that it was not enough. I am confused since the image they show as an example on what you can do does exactly that. They are not responding to my emails now. Have you had communication with them on this?
I watched this tutorial and started doing cards at the beginning of the year, I’ve sold over 350 cards so far and sales are increasing week on week, many of my cards are appearing at the top of searches organically too without advertising, it gave my shop the kick start it needed. I was worried it would only be busy during peak periods but I’m selling 5-6 birthday cards every day now. It’s hard to do as lots of designs have already been done and you have to price them correctly and source stock at the best prices as profit margins are tight and the price point on Etsy has kind of been set by other established sellers….but I’m managing to come up with new designs that people like.
After having watched several other videos before stumbling upon yours, I can say with great confidence that the others have NO COMPARISON to yours! I don't believe I have ever seen more professional, comprehensive and helpful videos. You are top notch! Thank you for putting the time and great effort into creating these mini seminars.
❤❤ This is incredibly good and I greatly appreciate you. But I’m still trying to find a tutorial where you can also give them the inside “design” with a saying. Still confused on how to do that. I think it would add value and allow you to charge more since some people have no idea what to write.
OMG!!! Your video is fantastic! The first I've seen that actually shows and doesn't tease! Hahahaha, there is one thing, I'm a math teacher and my students are always telling me to slow down. Great video! I've been searching for a greeting card tutorial and everyone does it differently. I like it this way. Can you please make a tutorial on how to put text inside and print it correctly? Hi Sandra. Awesome video. I'm stuck on the step where I'm copying my final product to another new design to make sure it fits the standard sheet. My background isn't copying with the rest of my card. Do you know how to do this? Thanks.
I’m having the same issue! It worked once but I can’t get it to do it again. I try holding ctrl or shift while trying to grab the text and background color but it isn’t working.
@RaeganCaldwell hey! I realized it doesn't copy the backgrounds. I also realized that backgrounds aren't the best for cards, since these are printable. In my shop, I only make cards with simple backgrounds that don't have different patterns so they transfer easier when I make the foldable size
Hey Sandra, I understand your instructions perfectly however, what if my design is in layers? Everytime I try to use the rectangle and put it in the back, Canva will show me each layer. I will not use layers going forward but was wondering if you can direct me for learning should I want to do this in the future for cards. It is also because I put a background on the front of my card? I tried it again for the back page with no layers, I copy and paste and nothing pastes.
Hi, I've followed your tutorial down to a T but I'm stuck on selecting ALL incl. my background image to paste in the download file. I have three layers incl. background image, but it's only selecting two elements. Please any advice on this. Thanks Faye x
Hi! I love your videos! Thank you for sharing this! Just one question: both images are on the same side of printing, so when it is folded, it would be front and back pictures (from outside), but nothing inside, is that right?
Yes that's correct! Inside would be blank. I am doing a follow-up video showing how to do outside and inside if you would like the inside filled out too :)
thank you so much Sandra you are the best youtuber on Etsy !!! I have seen so many videos you are the best to provide real value and really help people to create an Etsy shop

Hi, I've been working on setting up my etsy shop and designing cards. At any point do I need to make sure the image is 300dpi or will the resolution be fine since my designs are already 5x7 or 4x6?
Hi and thanks for this step by step tutorial. I want make portrait folding cards measuring 210mm x 148mm unfolded. I got stuck on the section of saving the printable where you changed the measurements? When I opened a new page and customised the size, my card filled the entire page!! Can you advise what my measurements on my printable page should be?
I am your newest subscriber. I must say you explain everything thing step-by-step in detail and it is so helpful. Thank you for your wonderful videos and tutorials. Keep it going!
Amazing tutorial I’m a newbie ! I don’t know what I did wrong but when I get to selecting everything (the card) it only seems to copy the image and text not the actual card if that makes sense. 😢
Hi @SandraDi, love your videos... trying to follow along but when you select all to copy over to another tab presumably with the file for the customer, it doesn't seem to copy everything. The box you are putting on top to align doesn't copy with it. Could you please offer any idea on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks so much
I have a question @sandradi do you have a separate store for greetings cards only or did you integrate it with your other printable products? I'm not sure what's best to do?
Great tutorial, if you're wanting to do digital download, thank you. I was wondering...what about actually printing and mailing cards...would you suggest singles or boxes or both...and do you have a tutorial for that process?
This was very helpful. I have been having a lot of problems with figuring out how to align things to print. I also include a message in the inside of the card. I sell my cards at some local shops and they like that there is a message. Do you have a tutorial on how to do an inside design? I find Canva extremely frustrating. It keeps opening multiple windows so that I lose track of which window to use. I make changes to one version and then I can't find it. I've been working on one card for the last couple of hours and I have different versions of it. Ugh. Thanks for your help!
Love the video! I just have one thing I need help with. Between 7.34-8.15 when copy and paste to the pdf file version. I cant seem to copy and paste everything. Everytime I copy and paste to pdf it doesnt paste everything including the shape color. It only paste the image I creates. I need help understanding how to fix it. I hope this makes any sense
Does your original file need to account for printing bleed? If you are printing at a printer company, don't they require bleed ? Does the final file print as a 5x7 ( or 4x6 document), which you then fold and prepare to mail ?
Hey! Great tutorial. However, I was unable to copy and paste. I had to save as a JPEG and go into a new page and upload, then resize. Do you know if the changes in Canva made it impossible to copy and paste to a new page? Thanks for this information.
This tutorial was so helpful and simple! If you are creating a card with a front and an inside (instead of front and back) how would you recommend completing the step with the dotted lines for cutout?
I will be doing an updated tutorial on this soon because it's difficult to answer without showing :) but I would create 2 art boards, one for front and one for back, with the cut lines to match on both boards!
I notice your prints are for front and back, but how do I customize my card to be front and inside the card like most cards are? working on Valentines day cards
Thank u so much really appreciate it I am looking for another video of yes I saved but cannit find it It is about ABC'S and you advise we can go onto a free site please help
Hi Sandra! Great video - I have two questions. Is there a reason you use JPG instead of PNG for the photos that you'll put on Etsy? Second question is you said to export the PDF in CMYK instead of RGB which I completely understand since it will be printed out, but when I do this my color shifts considerably (using mostly reds and pinks for Valentine's Day). Is there a way around this? Should I be designing with more muted colors or less bright colors since they can't be printed on a printer well since printers use CMYK? Thank you!
Hey Sandra! I like the video, I just had a question I wondered if you could answer maybe. I contacted Canva about their terms & policies, and they let me know that sellers that are working with printable products are not allowed to upload the file from Canva directly to Etsy, instead you have to provide a link to the customer, which they will click, and that'll lead them to Canva where they can download the file themselves. This is so that the creator of the graphics/images can be credited each time their graphic is used. But in all of your videos, you show yourself uploading it directly to Etsy, which I'm now confused about. Waiting for your reply!
Hi! I personally have not heard of this rule - I can see that being implemented for templates! But not for printables. I also personally always use my own graphics for printables that I sell so I will double check with Canva what is required!
Thank you for making this available! I have followed your instructions but am unable to copy and paste from canva to the 8.5 x 11 open window in canva. It just won't come over all together :( very frustrating.
Do you find the need to print these out to see if they actually work? I’ve done these before and gone to great lengths to make the template. You made it so much easier! Is it important to get ten images in the listings? I feel like creating the listings is what takes sooo much time. Is it ok to put your logo on the back instead or best to stay away from logos and use a design instead?
Appreciate your videos! What does the customer need to print these cards? If they print them on card paper for example, will they need to cut them with scissors or is there card stock out there that is basically, print and good to go? I understand everything until I copy and paste. How do I go to the other project and copy? When I used Make a copy, it just makes another copy of the same card. When I select everything and copy and paste, only the filled in triangle shows, not my card.
Hi! I would advise them to send to a local printing store to print on card stock and cut for them! Otherwise if the buyer has a printer and card stock they can do it at home :) And in the video I show how to go back to Canva homepage and create a new file for the final copy. Hope that helps!
Good video Sandra, I have a question for saving in Cmyk. You have canva paid version , You can save in cmyk, what will happen when You sell and send this version to buyer who has only free version. Buyer cant edit and save in cmyk for proffesional printing right ? what then ?
@@SandraDi Im not satified with Your answer 😉 Assume that project is editable. Print office needs graphic in cmyk , otherwise colours may change. Its disturbing 🤨
Hi! Do you mean print on demand? I don't personally have experience with them but there are many you can look into :) like Printful, Printbest, Printify, etc. Redbubble might have this option as well!
Your videos are so helpful! I'm wondering if you would considering making a video about your process of choosing fonts, pairing fonts, choosing graphics? I don't have a design background and I get so overwhelmed and bogged down with choosing the best fonts and trying to choose from all the beautiful images on Creative Fabrica etc and then arranging them the best way.
Great video..very informative. I have a question on the editable part....if I use a font for the name that they can edit and they don't have that particular font on their computer what happens....and if I make the file editable, can they now use all of my elements for whatever they want....I would think there would be some licensing problem with that.... Thank You!
I find Canva's licensing terms very confusing and convoluted. We are not actually allowed to sell products with many of their fonts and graphics so I keep it safe by purchasing my own

Everytime I copy and paste to pdf it doesnt paste everything including the shape color. It only paste the image I creates. I need help understanding how to fix it. I hope this makes any sense
You convinced me to get the program! I started using it last night and got a ton of ideas!
Yayy super exciting!
Does your original file need to account for printing bleed? If you are printing at a printer company, don't they require bleed ?
Does the final file print as a 5x7 ( or 4x6 document), which you then fold and prepare to mail ?
love this video!!! question though, are your customers allowed to download the thank you card although you downloaded it using a canva pro feature?
Amazing video as always dear Sandra, thank you so much 😊
Awww thank you so much for watching ❤️❤️
Thanks for this tutorial. Very helpful and thorough.
I notice your prints are for front and back, but how do I customize my card to be front and inside the card like most cards are? working on Valentines day cards
Thank u so much really appreciate it
I am looking for another video of yes I saved but cannit find it
It is about ABC'S and you advise we can go onto a free site please help
Simply Superb explanation
Thanks a lot , for posting
You're welcome!
I don't think it's necessary to use all 10 images no :). And sometimes I print it out myself just to see what it looks like!
Thank youuuuu, I can't wait to create some hilarious Birthday cards!!!
Yayy enjoy!!
How would you make these personalised? I love your videos thanks
Thank you! Question, do you create the envelope as well or just the card?
Just the card! :)
Thank you so much Sandra...great video as always...🙏♥
You're so welcome!! I'm glad you liked this one! Thank you for watching xx
Good video Sandra, I have a question for saving in Cmyk. You have canva paid version , You can save in cmyk, what will happen when You sell and send this version to buyer who has only free version. Buyer cant edit and save in cmyk for proffesional printing right ? what then ?
This would not be an editable template. It's only a printable so they're fine to just print as is :)
@@SandraDi Im not satified with Your answer 😉 Assume that project is editable. Print office needs graphic in cmyk , otherwise colours may change. Its disturbing 🤨
Thank you so much! I tried to select background first and then select the other images, but still the background doesn't seem to copy?
Try grouping everything together? :) see if that works!
Hey Sandra, do you have any suggestions on making these printables to sell through a place that can print them for the customer.
Hey, is it a better option to add copy marks & bleed area to the pdf file?
Great video..very informative. I have a question on the editable part....if I use a font for the name that they can edit and they don't have that particular font on their computer what happens....and if I make the file editable, can they now use all of my elements for whatever they want....I would think there would be some licensing problem with that....
Thank You!
Hi! When I tested this out, yes they can use the fonts you've added in. However if you use Pro elements, the buyer will need a Pro account to edit
Plz clear my confusion. The 3rd page size is bigger than 5 by 7 right? And that can be done in canva pro only i guess
Hi Sandra..just curious why go to creative fabrica when Canva has many fonts and imagery? Can we not use those? Thanks for clarifying.
I find Canva's licensing terms very confusing and convoluted. We are not actually allowed to sell products with many of their fonts and graphics so I keep it safe by purchasing my own
