I have really been enjoying watching your videos and am ready to take the plunge on wall art. I ran into a roadblock with Creative Fabrica though. I emailed them to ask if I put in a background and added text to their elements if I could use as a digital download for wall art. They replied that it was not enough. I am confused since the image they show as an example on what you can do does exactly that. They are not responding to my emails now. Have you had communication with them on this?
I watched this tutorial and started doing cards at the beginning of the year, I’ve sold over 350 cards so far and sales are increasing week on week, many of my cards are appearing at the top of searches organically too without advertising, it gave my shop the kick start it needed. I was worried it would only be busy during peak periods but I’m selling 5-6 birthday cards every day now. It’s hard to do as lots of designs have already been done and you have to price them correctly and source stock at the best prices as profit margins are tight and the price point on Etsy has kind of been set by other established sellers….but I’m managing to come up with new designs that people like.
OMG!!! Your video is fantastic! The first I've seen that actually shows and doesn't tease! Hahahaha, there is one thing, I'm a math teacher and my students are always telling me to slow down. I had to keep rewinding to see how you did some of this. You go through the setup sooooo fast. Now I understand how they feel. Thank you for this wonderful information!!
After having watched several other videos before stumbling upon yours, I can say with great confidence that the others have NO COMPARISON to yours! I don't believe I have ever seen more professional, comprehensive and helpful videos. You are top notch! Thank you for putting the time and great effort into creating these mini seminars.
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen for this! I just liked and subscribed 😁 I was about to give up on my Etsy store because of how not fun it is do sell POD products. This has inspired me. Graphic design has been a passion of mine since I was very young and now I can enjoy using procreate on my iPad to make beautiful art and use it to make printable cards. Even better, no need to deal with fees for POD and paying them and keeping track of this for taxes. I’m excited now! Going to watch all your videos like a classroom and learn everything you have to teach. Thank you so much 😊
Great video! I've been searching for a greeting card tutorial and everyone does it differently. I like it this way. Can you please make a tutorial on how to put text inside and print it correctly? The only thing I can come up with is to run the same page back through the printer, but there has to be another way.
Oh this has been suuuuper helpful, I was struggling trying to figure out how to get the outline for the customers to know where to cut and fold. THANK YOU SO MUCH
This tutorial was so detailed and well paced. The only question I have is is it better to brand your cards ? Have shop name at the back of the card, for instance.
❤❤ This is incredibly good and I greatly appreciate you. But I’m still trying to find a tutorial where you can also give them the inside “design” with a saying. Still confused on how to do that. I think it would add value and allow you to charge more since some people have no idea what to write.
THANK YOU!! I've been binge watching your videos and I've been inspired to create and open my own Etsy store. I'm still trying to work out the kinks, but this has made it a lot easier!
Great tutorial, thank you! I create digital art but had closed my Etsy shop as my other digital shops (Creative Fabrica is one, ironically!) have built-in licensing options and I really didn't want to mess with all of that on Etsy. After watching your video, I am seriously considering offering greeting cards in my Etsy shop (maybe wall art, too) for personal use. I can still add them to my POD shops, but this way I can keep my Etsy shop open as well. 😊 Thank you!
Thank You so much. It will be my first greeting card design on canva and was feeling overwhelmed. I feel much more confident now that I watched your step by step video. Gracias amiga. :)
Thank you for this! I have been going round in circles for literally MONTHS trying to find a step by step guide. Great video tutorial Sandra! I'm going to be starting a unique greeting card business and this was very helpful. I think I'm going to use POD to start.
thank you so much Sandra you are the best youtuber on Etsy !!! I have seen so many videos you are the best to provide real value and really help people to create an Etsy shop

Thank you so much for such a clear and helpful video. Do you happen to have a video explaining how to make greeting cards that the customer can edit through Canva? Thank you in advance! :)
Hi! I love your videos! Thank you for sharing this! Just one question: both images are on the same side of printing, so when it is folded, it would be front and back pictures (from outside), but nothing inside, is that right?
Yes that's correct! Inside would be blank. I am doing a follow-up video showing how to do outside and inside if you would like the inside filled out too :)
Your videos are so helpful! I'm wondering if you would considering making a video about your process of choosing fonts, pairing fonts, choosing graphics? I don't have a design background and I get so overwhelmed and bogged down with choosing the best fonts and trying to choose from all the beautiful images on Creative Fabrica etc and then arranging them the best way.
Wow this is amazing Sandra!! I tried to teach myself on how to do this and got very frustrated lol! Thank you so much for doing this tutorial! I am excited to start my printable side hustle! ❤️
Hey Sandra, I understand your instructions perfectly however, what if my design is in layers? Everytime I try to use the rectangle and put it in the back, Canva will show me each layer. I will not use layers going forward but was wondering if you can direct me for learning should I want to do this in the future for cards. It is also because I put a background on the front of my card? I tried it again for the back page with no layers, I copy and paste and nothing pastes.
I draw my own graphics and I was thinking of some cute greetings but I’m not good at hand lettering so was afraid I can’t use my commercial font for the card. I have a lot of fonts I bought from creative market. I’m glad this tutorial came in time. I will use my commercial fonts for the wording.
This was EXACTLY the video I needed. :) Thanks for creating such a thorough explanation. Question: Do you have a tutorial on how to create an A7 envelope template (with fold and cut lines)? I've seen lots of cool printable shops include envelope templates with their digital cards, and it seems like a nice touch. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to create an accurately sized template for 5x7 cards. (I did a search on your channel to see if you'd already done a video like this . . . I saw the video on templates in general, but not one about creating an envelope template for 5 x 7 cards with the fold and cut lines . . . sorry if I missed it!).
Hi Sandra, you must be a mind reader. I was literally just thinking a few days ago that I was hoping you might do a tutorial about greeting cards! This is great, thank you! One question (well, maybe not, lol): I see that these would be blank inside. Is that typical for printable cards? Is it worth it to come up with internal text? Or does it get too complicated with having to create the file for the inside text and explaining to people how to reinsert the cover sheet back into their printer to get everything printed correctly? Thanks again! 😊
Haha yayy I read your mind! I decided to keep it blank because I noticed many shops are doing that, allowing the customers to just write whatever they want inside. But you can definitely create the inside! I would follow the exact same procedure here and just save a PDF file with 2 sheets (1 for outside and 1 for inside)!
I am your newest subscriber. I must say you explain everything thing step-by-step in detail and it is so helpful. Thank you for your wonderful videos and tutorials. Keep it going!
This is phenomenal!! Thank you. I've spent untold amounts of time being frustrated until finding your videos. Thank you!! One thing I'd like to ask: what is a suggestion for an envelope for the greeting cards? I've tried finding something suitable to create. Most require rounded or curved edges which I believe may need Adobe or something like it. Thanks again for your great work. You give me hope I may yet create an online business to help me add to my measure income (I'm on social security).
Hi! Do you mean offering a digital envelope? I don't think it's needed because the customer will typically buy a regular envelope :) all they will need is a fully designed digital card! Hope that helps
@@SandraDi I'm glad you confirmed this. I don't buy printables but my first thought was who gives a greeting card that isn't held in an envelope? Haha, you answered that question! (And by the way: have you tried creating an envelope template? Don't, I'll save you the time, buy one!!)
This tutorial was so helpful and simple! If you are creating a card with a front and an inside (instead of front and back) how would you recommend completing the step with the dotted lines for cutout?
I will be doing an updated tutorial on this soon because it's difficult to answer without showing :) but I would create 2 art boards, one for front and one for back, with the cut lines to match on both boards!
absolute new beginner, i followed it all until copy and paste, it was only pasting text (not the font on my car) and nothing else. i have been trying to watch it over and over and have even got family looking at it and cannot find what i am doing wrong :( But i agree your video is the clearest as everyone goes so fast in beginners video's, surely if you have no knowledge then the speed is important !
Hi Sandra. Awesome video. I'm stuck on the step where I'm copying my final product to another new design to make sure it fits the standard sheet. My background isn't copying with the rest of my card. Do you know how to do this? Thanks.
I’m having the same issue! It worked once but I can’t get it to do it again. I try holding ctrl or shift while trying to grab the text and background color but it isn’t working.
@RaeganCaldwell hey! I realized it doesn't copy the backgrounds. I also realized that backgrounds aren't the best for cards, since these are printable. In my shop, I only make cards with simple backgrounds that don't have different patterns so they transfer easier when I make the foldable size
Hi Sandra, your tutorials are amazing! I just wondered what software do you recommend to find the best niches, which identify search volume and competition? Also any advice you can give about how to analyse this properly to ensure its a good niche? Many thanks so much for what you do! Xxx
Very helpful. I feel overwhelmed with getting started on Etsy. All I know is I enjoy creating designs but the marketing and tech aspects leave me frozen. 😩
This was very helpful. I have been having a lot of problems with figuring out how to align things to print. I also include a message in the inside of the card. I sell my cards at some local shops and they like that there is a message. Do you have a tutorial on how to do an inside design? I find Canva extremely frustrating. It keeps opening multiple windows so that I lose track of which window to use. I make changes to one version and then I can't find it. I've been working on one card for the last couple of hours and I have different versions of it. Ugh. Thanks for your help!
oh my goodness you shared a few things that i have been spending WAY too much time searching for in Canva, and that is the card with envelope mockup. you showing that combo of placing the jpg of the card, then ADDING an envelope... blew my mind. good grief that's a simple and elegant solution. and the glow to make it look better. thank you! i'm going to refresh some of the cards in my store. also, as far as the Canva mockups showing items on top of or blocking some of the card/envelope, do you know how to you get around that? i do not know of canva having a layering option to place the graphic properly.. i hope that makes sense. maybe i make my own layered mockup... lastly, your hair is amazing.
Hi! Sorry I'm a little confused by the question :) what elements are you referring to that are blocking the envelopes / cards? And thank you for the hair compliment!!
Great tutorial, if you're wanting to do digital download, thank you. I was wondering...what about actually printing and mailing cards...would you suggest singles or boxes or both...and do you have a tutorial for that process?
Thank u so much really appreciate it I am looking for another video of yes I saved but cannit find it It is about ABC'S and you advise we can go onto a free site please help
Thank you for this my Illustrator trial ran out and im not sure i wanna pay that monthly price so im glad to see a great canva tutorial! I am wondering if it would it be possible to start with the 8.5x11 board instead and make the 2 5x7 rectangles and do the design on the same page?
Hey Sandra, thank you so much for all your videos! I've been binge watching them and working hard on creating my store. I have a question regarding free listings - I saw that you have a lot of unused listings - did you pay for them? If not, how did you do that? 😅
Hello! Thanks for another great tutorial! Everything i learned so far i've learned from you ♡ I have a question though, i didn't get how you copied and pasted that card, i did the same but either the background paste or the elements, not both. I slowed down the videospeed to see where your arrow goes lol but it doesn't help 😂 And did you open another canva page to make the 7x10? pls

I will be doing an updated tutorial on this soon because it's difficult to answer without showing :) but I would create 2 art boards, one for front and one for back, with the cut lines to match on both boards!
Great idea!! And your make up is so pretty by the way!
Awww thank you! 🥰
absolute new beginner, i followed it all until copy and paste, it was only pasting text (not the font on my car) and nothing else. i have been trying to watch it over and over and have even got family looking at it and cannot find what i am doing wrong :( But i agree your video is the clearest as everyone goes so fast in beginners video's, surely if you have no knowledge then the speed is important !
Thank you so much for this video! 🙏🙏♥️♥️
You're welcome! And thank you for watching! ❤️❤️
Hi Sandra, your tutorials are amazing! I just wondered what software do you recommend to find the best niches, which identify search volume and competition? Also any advice you can give about how to analyse this properly to ensure its a good niche? Many thanks so much for what you do! Xxx
For Etsy, I use Everbee
Very helpful. I feel overwhelmed with getting started on Etsy. All I know is I enjoy creating designs but the marketing and tech aspects leave me frozen. 😩
One step at a time! I used to hate marketing too
Do you have a tutorial on how to add the inside of a card, like a verse etc, like they do with traditional cards?
This was very helpful. I have been having a lot of problems with figuring out how to align things to print. I also include a message in the inside of the card. I sell my cards at some local shops and they like that there is a message. Do you have a tutorial on how to do an inside design? I find Canva extremely frustrating. It keeps opening multiple windows so that I lose track of which window to use. I make changes to one version and then I can't find it. I've been working on one card for the last couple of hours and I have different versions of it. Ugh. Thanks for your help!
I love your designs 😘
Thank you so much!
oh my goodness you shared a few things that i have been spending WAY too much time searching for in Canva, and that is the card with envelope mockup. you showing that combo of placing the jpg of the card, then ADDING an envelope... blew my mind. good grief that's a simple and elegant solution. and the glow to make it look better. thank you! i'm going to refresh some of the cards in my store.
also, as far as the Canva mockups showing items on top of or blocking some of the card/envelope, do you know how to you get around that? i do not know of canva having a layering option to place the graphic properly.. i hope that makes sense. maybe i make my own layered mockup...
lastly, your hair is amazing.
Hi! Sorry I'm a little confused by the question :) what elements are you referring to that are blocking the envelopes / cards? And thank you for the hair compliment!!
Thanks for another very helpful video! Should we add in our description the envelope is not included to avoid any confusion?
Yes in my description I add in that it's a digital download and no physical product will be mailed to them! :)
Great tutorial, if you're wanting to do digital download, thank you. I was wondering...what about actually printing and mailing cards...would you suggest singles or boxes or both...and do you have a tutorial for that process?
Hey Sandra, can you offer any tips on how to promote your Etsy shop? Thanks!
Yes I will do a whole video on this! But my biggest tip is using Pinterest to drive traffic! :)
@@SandraDi Thanks so much! I'll wait for the video.
Such a to the point video. Thank you 😊
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thank u so much really appreciate it
I am looking for another video of yes I saved but cannit find it
It is about ABC'S and you advise we can go onto a free site please help
Thank you for this my Illustrator trial ran out and im not sure i wanna pay that monthly price so im glad to see a great canva tutorial! I am wondering if it would it be possible to start with the 8.5x11 board instead and make the 2 5x7 rectangles and do the design on the same page?
Hey Sandra, thank you so much for all your videos! I've been binge watching them and working hard on creating my store. I have a question regarding free listings - I saw that you have a lot of unused listings - did you pay for them? If not, how did you do that? 😅
Hi! When I share my link for 40 free listings for other people to start their shops, it gives me 40 free listings as well! :)
Hello!
Thanks for another great tutorial!
Everything i learned so far i've learned from you ♡
I have a question though, i didn't get how you copied and pasted that card, i did the same but either the background paste or the elements, not both. I slowed down the videospeed to see where your arrow goes lol but it doesn't help 😂 And did you open another canva page to make the 7x10? pls
Hi! Try selecting the background first and then select all the other elements! :) That usually works! And I opened a new page at 8.5" x 11"
@@SandraDi Thank you so much 😊
well explained, thank you so much. Are you taking any students?
