I would love to go for one of these next time round. I have been riding for 35 years and have had two CBR1000F's over the years and currently riding one. I have done ALL of New Zealand's North Island, and would love to do the South Island on an ST1300
Excellent set of videos. I had a black 2013 ST1300A in 2015 but it was written -off when a car pulled out on me so I replaced it with a Goldwing 2013 red (navigator) for 2-up riding with my wife. For commuting and gravel tours I have 2 DCT 2016 Africa Twins. But I always really missed my ST1300A for 1-up touring so this week I bought a 2008 with 40K km red and I get it tomorrow. Its off to my local bike shop Cyclespot in Auckland for TLC then at the end of the week I am off for a quick 3500 km South Island of NZ tour whichI am so looking forward too.
Thanks for posting this. I ride a blackbird which I love for reasons which you no doubt know having owned one yourself. Would love one of these as a second bike for longer trips or perhaps the fjr1300. Think I'm a Honda man at heart.
Hi! Bought one in 2003! Best bike there is but...! the saddle could be more comfortable so I sent both of mine to Russel cycle products in California , a bit from where I live in Sweden, to had them modified. Now I can ride for hours without and but pain, Second fault with the bike is that it doesn't have a sixth gear!
I am considering to replace my VFR 800 FI and 800 vtec for this one, because I will probably like the riding style and the upright seating position is better for my arms and shoulders. Thanks for the reviews.
No I don't. I have never had much issue with fuel injection and to be frank I don't like messing with this stuff. In the old days we used to change out jets in the carbs to find the "right mix" but today it is much different. I had a Drummer pipe on my Buell XB12, which I raced, and I was shown by friends at the track how mapping software worked and how I could modify the mix using a pc hookup, but I was not brave enough to tackle it. There are professionals for that type of work and I am not one of them.
Sorry the late response and thank you. Honda made a lovely bike in the ST. I wish I could tell you who made the protectors, they were installed by one of the previous owners.
The top case is a Givi. If you google them you will find a dealer. You will need the mounting kit as well specific to the ST. I did not buy this one, it came with the bike. But I have bought Givi for other bikes. Made in Italy with very nice materials. Superior to the factory side bags.
I've been considering going with a sport-tourer for my next bike, the BMW R1200RT and the Honda ST1300 so I ended up here. I was just sitting back enjoying your series of videos and then out of nowhere you say that you're from New Brunswick! LOL Are you in Moncton by any chance? That's where I'm from. Small world! Looking forward to watching some more of your videos. Charlie
@@fixitmyself Ah okay, Saint John, that was my next guess. So far I'm finding better deals on R1200RTs private sale in NB and NS. My heart says R1200RT but my more practical side sort of tips more towards something like an ST1300 or maybe even a Yamaha FJR1300. I guess that we're lucky enough to be spoiled for choices but it can cause option anxiety too. LOL Anyway, thanks for these videos. They were very well done! Happy motoring and be safe out there. Best of luck with the new bike. The tour sounds awesome.

It seems the seat is 1 of the most popular mods for this bike. Mine is still stock but that may change.
Great bike! This one is definitely on my list of motorcycles I'm considering. I'd probably give my cars up for a few months with this thing. 😁
Thank you
Nice series of videos.

Gas tank holds 7.7 Gallons 50 mpg plus
Yep ! I go near 300 miles before I look for gas on mine. 2010 bought in 2012 after my 98' St1100 with 180,000 miles on it.
Do you still own the ST1300? Great review!
Ed J Sorry for the late response. Don’t check comments often. Yes, still have it and thanks.
Hello I am from France and I too ride on ST1300 it is top as motorcycle I rolled years on Honda X11
Do you have any experience of "Boosterplug"?

What brand are those protectors on top of each side pannier? Nice looking ride!

bikenutt1000 no worries on the response. I love my ST! I did custom pannier covers on mine but yours look so nice. Safe riding!
Thanks and as you can tell I rarely check comments. The protectors were on the bike when purchased.
Do you have a link for the top case where to buy it?

Hey Charlie. Just south in SJ. I've never ridden a BMW but they always seemed to have good deals on them at Motoplex.
