Hi Hany, I greatly enjoyed this overview. If you're already familiar, I'm curious about your thoughts on programs like InVID and WeVerify. I've been thinking about the black box comment you made in reference to the world of online citizen journalism. Services like those mentioned carry a potential public harm as a result of the software's accessibilty when used by users with common knowledge gaps. I'm thinking about this in the same way that users of Eliza fell prey to Banel Deception, as argued by Simone Natlale in the book Deceptive Media. I wonder whether the currently accelerated public fascination with the engaging with OSINT will facilitate an eviorment where foresic practitioners' expertise is routinely contested. Thanks for your thoughts. I look forward to the rest of this playlist!
In some cases yes, and in some cases the analyses we perform are not easily invertible. There is, however, a natural arms race in creation/detection which is why we don't publish all of our forensic techniques.

Very interesting. I wonder if the technology to test and detect deepfakes can be used to create deepfakes that pass the test and bypass detection.
