I'm assuming these guy's haven't driven a sport differential car back to back. There is no comparison between the two cars. With the differential fitted car, the FRONT end is so much more alert and dynamic and it turns in eagerly and makes the car feel nimble for a car of this size. I previously owned a B8 S4 with the sport diff and now own a B9 S4 without the sport diff. I am trying to find a similar S4 with the sport diff fitted but they are rare here in New Zealand. I have test driven two cars but didn't buy for other reasons.
I should mention the reason the car steers much better with the sport differential is because the outside rear wheel "over speeds" and reduces understeer markedly.

How throttle heavy are your inputs? My S4 is glued down. And I have the sport diff.

    Hey there,
What type of rear differential is standard (non-sport diff) with the B9 S4? There seems to be a bunch of misinfo with inconsistent answers all over the board.
I'm trying to get out of my STI and into an S4 and I would like to know mostly about the rear diff since even a mechanical LSD in the rear would be great.

It depends on the options, and every market is different. For USDM, the sport differential is typically paired with the S sport package and red brakes.

@034Motorsport Uncut right, so if it's the sport diff then it's an electronically controlled clutch pack diff which is primo. But as far as non-sport diffs are they open and traction control uses braking to move power or are they clutch packs without electronic control or helical? I'm talking USDM

how to improve the ride comfort? i have an b9 s4 with a sport suspension, but its still too bouncy for my wife and baby, what can i do?

    • @034MotorsportUncut

You may want to look into getting a coilover setup that offers rebound adjustability so you could adjust the ride quality to your preference.

Just set the suspension to Auto. Comfort is bouncy on uneven roads. Dynamic is a bit firmer and you feel a bit more road surface coming through via the tyres.
