I moved to Littleton in December of 1981 from New Zealand at age 13. My dad got a job with United Airlines based in Denver. I learned about hockey by watching the Colorado Rockies and listening on the radio at night. I was sad that the Rockies were leaving and going to New Jersey as I had fallen in love with the team. I lived about half a mile from South Suburban Ice Arena and skated there for the first time in 1982. I followed the Devils for years in the newspapers and finally got to see them regularly when they made the playoffs and were on ESPN. I was so excited when they made the ECF Finals in 1994 and then won the cup in 1995. I have been a Rockies/Devils fan since I moved to Colorado and saw several SCF games in person in 2001. I'm still bummed the Devils lost that year. I finally went to NJ last year to my first home game in New Jersey with my family. We watched them lose to the Rangers 3-1 in April last year. I was able to get close to Chico and get his picture while he was working. Definitely exciting for me to finally see him up close after all those years. I still miss Rocky Hockey, but I am sure it was better for everyone to go to New Jersey at the time. I never could love the Avalanche, but I am glad Denver has been able to support that team. Thank you, Chico for all the years of hockey and all your support for the Devils on TV and the Radio!
Miss the days of Doc and Chico broadcasting on tv.
These are the kinds of videos I subscribe for. More about the history and moments.

MOAR CHICO.....NEEDS MOAR CHICO.
Retire his number already.
I’ve played quite a few games here. This arena is pretty rough nowadays!
You can tell he's Canadian because he says dressing room
