  • On a rainy day in August 2019, I boarded a 506 CARLTON CLRV at Main Street Station for one of my last opportunities to ride the vehicle before the fleet's retirement. Thanks to the permission of the driver, I was able to videotape the full run to High Park and back. You've seen the timelapse video, so watch it in real-time, and enjoy the ambient noises, facts about the route, and snippets of conversation between myself and the driver.

I stayed at Sherbourne and Carlton in 2018. I needed the new streetcars becauseof my mobility.

But there were stairs. Hard when you use a walker.

@@dakotanorth1640 yes, but these were the iconic toronto cars. I get its better now, but still, the memories.

I rode the VIARail to Stratford two years ago and, at that time there was only two trains each direction, (could not help overhearing what the gentleman was saying,
This year I am riding the train from Toronto to Sarnia to see what it’s like

Nice video!! And what a silent streetcars. I think these streetcars had a very smooth ride due to their airsuspensioned boogies (I have never been in Canada, so it is just what I think....), they just were too small. Probably everyone is going to mis that..... Not, that the new Bombardier streetcars are running bad (I did travel in them in Berlin, Germany, where there are the "Flexity Berlin" with 5 and 7 sections), not at all, but the difference will be there.

Enjoyed this, having visited Toronto in 2004 and had a trip to High Park. I note the round trip is about two and a quarter hours so what would the driver's day be? Perhaps two round trips, a break and then something later on? I don't know drivers' hours rules in Toronto, or anywhere else really!

Maybe someday. I am working on a 508 Lake Shore ride along, which returns to Roncesvalles along most of the 506 route.
