- Drilled rotors and pads on a fifthgen camaro .. How To change brakes on a chevy chevrolet camaro 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 camaro5 5th generation
ALTHOUGH THE METHOD I USED TO RETORQUE THE ORIGINAL CALIPER BOLTS WORKS..IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE CALIPER TO SPINDLE BOLTS BE REPLACED WITH NEW ONES..

Excellent video. Thanks for putting it out there.
I would recommend cleaning the rust off with a brass brush and perform some anti-corrosive measures before reassembling the parts. Just a thought.
Just picked up a 2012 SS and will be needing brakes soon. Thanks for the video, this looks even easier than I was expecting.
thanks for watching
Every 100 years I change my brake pads and use your video. Thanks for the upload mr. Clown
thanks!!
Great video! Thank you for making changing my rotors and pads easy, and saving me a bunch of money!!!
So helpful lol i've watched like 10 times I'm going to try and change breaks and rotors today for first time in my life on my Camaro.
Awesome..just becareful and take ur time
Great video and Extremely helpful with the way you explain it and show with the camera. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching
Just clicked the "show more" button, and I see that you already commented on the bolts. Again, thanks a ton for posting this.
Just also picked up a 2012 SS, ordering a slotted rotor/pad kit, thank you for the video. Excellent suggestions and tips.
Chris C thanks for watching
Thanks for the video! Straight forward, and easy to follow!!!
Thanks for putting this out there klown, will be sure to use your vid when doing my brakes this weekend.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video, you make it look pretty simple!!
William Murphy thanks for watching
Thanks for the video, this applies to the 2014 SS Sedan as well.
Great video. Thanks for posting. One question/challenge though. I notice you are re-using the caliper bolts (white-out trick instead of toque wrench). I've read on other resources that the caliper bolts are "torque-to-yield," and therefore should not be re-used. Interested in your thoughts on this.
Damn I use to be afraid of this but you got me feeling like a pro...lol
it's easy baby
Thanks man. Getting new pads and rotors. Though im replacing caliper bolts as they are TTY
MUY BUEN VIDEO MUY CLARO LA EXPLICACION, EN TODOS ESTE TIEMPO ES EL UNICO BUEN VIDEO, GRACIAS
great video. subbing for when I do later maintenance on my 5th gen.
Awesome thanks for watching
Great Job*****I Like how you explained everything and got right to the business of doing the Job at hand**** doing my Camaro ss tomorrow. Thank You*****:):):):)
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe
Excellent! Thanks for sharing, I just bought a ss 2010 and it looks that one of the rear rotor and pads need to be replace. Muy bien
Thanks..good luck with it..check out the description for a link to my shirts
Thank you for this! Really helped!
+KingPetras Thanks for watching
Good video! I'm doing a similar brake job on my 2015 SS 1LE. Figure it's best to buy all new bolts and torque to specs cuz it's not worth the risk as cheap as the bolts are. Also definitely going to clean and lube everything up appropriately.
Awesome..good luck..dont forget to subscribe
Great video! Thanks so much!
I might be doing my cousin 2015 camara brakes thanks for video
Thanks for the vid. Used it for my G8
thnx for watching
Your video was very helpful thanks
Thanks for watching and dont forget to subscribe
Good stuff. Thanks.
Good video, Klowny. About to replace the pads for the first time in my 2012 2SS. Thank god I don't have to pull off that caliper just do to pads.
Thanks..and thanks for watching
hallis1 So the pads can just switched out with out removing any thing else if rotors are good.?
Solid91us That's what it looks like to me.
Solid91us that is correct
if adding a new caliper can one use the same "whiteout marking system" for the spindle bolt
hello i was going to change my rotors for my 2014 camaro. so here's the thing i changed my brakes awhile back so my car starting to shake when I'm hard braking. i took it to a tire place thinking its the alignment or balance but they told me the rotors are no good since i didn't get the rotors resurfaced . is there anything i need to know before changing the rotors?
Nice job.
I went to Chey and they told me it was 30 pft plus 90 degrees. I read in a forum 44 pft +90° for front and 30+90 for rear. I'm going to go with the 30+90 all the way around.
Hi,
could you please upload the manual you have shown in the last few minutes?
Thanks and greetings from Germany
Are the 2 caliber bolts single use only, once removed do they have to be replaced with new ones ??
my turn to apply my rotors. thanks bro
GG you got it
Wow, that is one f the easiest rotor replacements I've seen. Anyone know if this is the same for 2013 ZL1? Replaced rotors on a jeep, a ford, and some others and it was a pain.
Best one I've seen. good shit man
Thnx for watching
You the man clowny.....👋
Thank you
Thanks not as hard as I thought or you made it look easy
+Jack Cashin thanks for watching..if this klown can do it..so can you!!
What about the brake grease on the back of the pads?
ey man how come you did not remove the guide pins and bolts? i have heard you need to removed em and replace them since they are 1 time use only
wow brakes are easy on camaros
I'll make sure I lube it before I hit it from behind!
Funny but Getting the job done right cool video!!
JR BORIQUA7 thanks
@2011 Camaro Calipers are completely different configuration/style as what is shown here on the 2010
Do you have to do anything about the brake fluid reservoir? like take out half of it before compressing the pistons in?
nope no need..thnx for watching
Just saw your vid man , where these rotors and pads good? Would you recommend ?
this was a customers car..no complaints..thanks for watching
I am a new subscriber thank you for your video.. my question is..is it the same procedure for 2018camaro ss..thank you 🙏
Yes it should be..thank you
So what are the torque specs for the caliper bolts?
I'm on my 3rd set of rotors... Once again after 6k miles the vibration is back. Dealership no longer replacing rotors for free. I have a 2014 SS. I read my rotors just need to be sanded with Garnett paper instead of just replacing every 4 months. Any thoughts? I drive only to/from work & I don't race or do unusual breaking.
+adrian97c I have a 2013 1LE and I have had it from the showroom, I drive moderately, tracked once, and I am just now replacing my pads and rotors. Have you tried replacing your rotors and pads at the same time?
+Anthony Shipp yes tried that also. I gave up & bought a 6th gen.
google "brake pad bedding procedure" this needs to be done after you replace the pads and rotors, it will bring the rotors and pads up to temp gradually and allow the pad material to become embedded into the rotor, if you do not do this the rotors eventually wear unevenly which people call "warped rotors" they're not really warped 90 % of the time, they just weren't bedded properly
What types of rotors would you recommend at a really good price for a as 2013 camaro?
Jermaine Simms centric..the better ones though
so to change just the brakes i just need to take pins out take pads out and put new pads in and pins and basically done right??
Yesir
You don’t have to bleed the caliper brakes
shouldn't the brake pads have weights on them? thanks for the video!
some of them have it for no squealing..u can put tire balancing weights on them if they do squeal..thanks for watching
so you can reuse the bolts or?
any issues yet with that?
no issue..but you can replace them
I feel like I’m watching Michael Myers working on some brakes. (The coveralls give you away.)
I need to open the cap from break fluid to replace the breaks?
No
Where the link for the rear
What is the torque spec for the caliper bolts
frenchie5k 30 ft lbs + 90 degrees
what is the difference with round sensers and slot
huh?
Dose anyone know the correct torque spec?
So if all you wanted to do was replace the pads, you could just do that without removing the caliper, right? They would just slide in where the old ones came out?
from what i remember i think u can in this particular setup
klowny1969 Whoa, thanks for the fast reply! Subbed.
Yep all you have to do is push the pins out, (being sure to keep a finger on that spring clip so it doesn't go flying), pull the old pads, insert new pads, done. Did this on all 4 corners last week on my 2012 SS.
Are you kidding me that is NOT the way to get bolts back to the proper torque specs.
H Miller let me guess..you have 30 years experience as a mechanic..
$19.99 for a torque wrench at Harbor Freight lol
This is the same as doing the brake pad change on a ZL1??
probably
probably
+klowny1969 ima do the job today, just never
Worked on a zl1 so dont know how its gunna look well never worked on a camaro pd
+John Gonzalez its easy..u should be fine
i changed my brake pads about a month ago and they squeak when I'm coming to a stop at around 5mph to 0
Jose Cazares the infamous fifthgen camaro brake squeal..there is alot of info on this online..they say its the weight of the pads..google it
Jose Cazares did you ever find the problem?
When you said bang it from behind baby l was almost much 🤏to call my girlfriend..😁
LOL
There is no need to bleed them
Those caliper bolts are torque to yield. Once you remove them you have to replace them. You are risking your life as well as others. Never reuse torque to yield bolts! That is dangerous.
Thomas Williams Jr. ok this is a touchy subject...there are great arguments either way ...however this is a subject i know alot in.....torque to yield bolts are stretched to a certain length, if u use a stretch gauge you can see this..the point to what i did by marking the bolts is that you will not stretch the bolt further than it was stretched before..so u are in the safe zone..thanks for watching
this is not debateable to GM engineers... they are torque to yeild... one use and thats it... just cause some internet guys say they are ok.. doesnt mean there is a debate
Yea never buy drilled rotors only slotted the holes make stress points when it goes through a heat cycle and will crack. Modern brake pads don't build up a layer of gas like older style pads so the holes are pointless. Slotted won't crack and will help reduce heat at the pad
BLAZEDALLDATIME could be just for show so never say never
Bang it frum behind Baby 🤣🤣
thats right ;) don't forget to subscribe
Dude u should clean those calipers
This was a customers car..dont forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 ohh okay!! Already did!!!
@@Oscarrr528 Thank you
This must be an SS. V6 brakes are different.
yes maam
Any major differences? Im about to tackel this project tomorrow on a v6 LS
Doing a rear rotor change on a 2012 camaro and the rotor doesn't just fall of like yours - what gives?
whack the bitch
+klowny1969 ha! did that - 5 lb dead blow - no luck. Had to put it back together without the new parts and will have to try again another night. Running out of daylight. I don't have to remove the dust shroud for a 2012 do I?
+Tony Via nope..hit it by the lugs..squirt some butter sauce..or wd40 by the lugs and in the center
Finally got it - just had to switch from the deadblow to the 2 lb. steel. Good lookin' out and thanks for the info (both guide and feedback). Will be watching your vids for the front ones soon!
You need to show how you actually install it. .no good sorry
I did..don't forget to subscribe
