Could you make a sort of engine that runs off purely the expanding gases of dry ice? I guess there is a risk of explosion. But if you focus it by a nozzle could it produce thrust? I'd imagine the thrust would be affected by the nozzle diameter, and overall surface area of the dry ice, also how quickly it heats up
Would a TPU nozzle adjust diameter based on pressure to prevent the dry ice rocket exploding?

in the very last trial where you put the fins on the bottom of the bottle, consider covering the nozzle with a little bit of masking tape, so that the butane would not spill out before mixing with coke. the tape would be blown off by the pressure later on, which should result in fewer power losses, as more butane would be used up and not get spilled.

great idea and Tom Stanton did it again!!! nice collaboration .... try this with a parachute open in a bigger bottle ... if you 3d printing bottle in base mode , and then put some resin to smooth the surface ,and cure it with UV, will be light and hold the mix in!!!

You guys have no imagination. The way to go is to make RC A-10 Warthog & make a epic meltdown out of a miniature mini gun mounted in front or some other Frankenstein mash up involving firearms & some remote control device.
So, it looks to me like the intermix works best when the bottle is vertical, but you need reverse thrust. How would it be if you designed a nozzle that makes a right-angle turn, mounting the bottle(s) vertically but sending thrust out the back? I realize it would make things top-heavy so maybe that's a half-solution at best, but it's my best two cents' worth on a snowy afternoon...

in the slow mo it shows the coke being pushed out as if it were a plug only after the coke is pushed out would the high pressure butane push the vehicle forward . I feel that if you had two tanks a perportioning valve and mixing chamber/nozzle you could get a much longer burn time.

I built a bottle rocket plane once, this reminds me of that. It could take off on wheels from the ground up to about two stories, then glide down.

Tom's idea for bottom mounting the fins is correct but your shape needed to have the fins culminating to an apex so that once the inversion takes place the fins work as positive stabilizing airfoils. BTW I truly enjoy both you and Tom's projects/experiments.

What you could try is a nozzle that focuses, then widens, but at the angle at which the two meet you add a disc in the middle. This disc, with supports on 4 sides, can also have a small, or small holes in it to relieve pressure. That way, the plastic won't break. The reason I say it needs to widen is because the thin nozzle wasn't having the coke stable, but earlier when the coke spread it was more stable. The disc in the center will spew the coke outward, down the progressively wider angle. The holes in the middle will act as middle support, and the focus before the widen will give it more pressure. Please consider this as I really think this is a good idea.
