Did RUclips full time Dec 2020-Mar 2021. Working alone and constantly churning out RUclips content during the shortage burnt me out, so I silently stopped uploading in early April and looked for a full time job. I was scared and saddened to tell people too so I just let it be. I started work in June and I love it. Just like you said - the benefits, consistent schedule, steady paycheck, and working with other people are fabulous. These are all things I lacked with full time RUclips. I realized that I enjoy making content, but making it my means of living sucks out the fun. I just do it as a side hobby now, almost like when I first started. Much better for me. It’s a hard decision to let go of something you’ve put so many hours in, but at the end of the day it’s the right choice sometimes. I needed the 5 month break to recoup & clear my head. I’m so glad to hear you’re doing well TJ! ♥️ Thanks for sharing your story

(6 months intel gpu, add 3 months for full scale release) also TSMC has full supply coming in again, takes usually 8 months to ramp up supply to normal. So if I were you, just take a break for 9 months.
I can totally relate, that must have been a tough decision, I hope you are doing better now. For me, it was not so much about the pandemic, I had family reasons that pushed me out of the content creation-- turned out despite hard times, it was just healthy to get out of this RUclips "loop". It's hard when you're doing it all on your own and trying to make something professional out of it, difficult to keep it healthy, you keep pushing yourself and end up sacrificing way too much without even realizing. I feel EXACTLY the same about ads, I hated doing them and felt they ruined my videos-- especially considering smaller channels mostly gets offers from crappy sponsors you don't really feel proud of making ads for. It's tough, because you have to make the channel profitable, so you start looking around and feel like you should do like others, but not everyone can feel good about this. It's forced, it feels bad, it sucks, I mostly turned these crap sponsors away, rather keep my pride than try to sell stuff I don't believe in. I feel the same about doing content on the same/similar parts-- once it's done, it's done! Having to refresh just because RUclips needs constant uploads is ridiculous. If you can continue motivated on that, yeap, more power to you, but I can't, I think it's stupid. I think YT content creation is still going to drive a lot of people insane, sometimes a FORCED BREAK is the only way for you to see how much better off you are. My best wishes, hopefully there will be some random crap here every once in a while!
To your point about working RUclips alone: it sucks. My solution was to create a community of YT collaborators in your space and it’s totally changed my life. If you ever come back, stay in touch with your space, and maybe you’ll enjoy it more the second time around!

Hey man I'm the same way. I go hard on certain things for spurts: Tech/PC'S/Servers, then DooM & retro gaming, Analog Synthesis & music production, classic/vintage PC'S, Law & Government... With those things, I end up dedicating time very similar to how you explained. Large chunks of time (many months to a year+ ), then I get more interested in one of the other things and dive back into that. Rinse & repeat my entire life. I'm in my 40's now, and the most important thing I've learned in my life is: Do what makes YOU happy and feel fulfilled in your life. To hell with anyone else that wants to dump on you or be negative. Do your thing. Yourself & family always first. We only get one life. Do that makes you happy 😁 Cheers.

The pandemic certainly put a huge hurt on PC enthusiasts. I started a small PC business right before the pandemic hit and it has been a really rough go of things. I started doing RUclips just for fun. As long as it is just for fun I won't lose interest in it, but not being able to get any parts and prices being so high has definitely made things less fun. Thank you for sharing!

Going from being able to build budget gaming machines that were within a normal working families/individual's pay bracket has gone out the window when its doubled/trebled the price of a build due to the graphics card issue.

Honestly, If you kept up making a video every month or 2 I'd be happy haha. I've seen a lot of channels with irregular upload schedules (sometimes months in between) and the videos always seem to do great. Maybe something to think about, either way wish you all the best!
Breaks my heart that one of my favorite pc youtubers will be out of the so called game, but from the bottom of my heart I thank you for the amazing time that you have not only entertained me but informed me over some of the most wacky and traumatic times in my life going from college to fulI blown adulthood while moving across the country in a pandemic. It sucks all this bs in the economy happened right after you made a big move to go bigger on RUclips and it’s clearly something that made way more stress on you as well. You are TOO honest to be famous. To be famous one must have an air of mystery that comes from lying by omission. And whereas I understand that, it's something that would require effort that would take away from parts of life that are far more important imo. Like your health and your children in your case.

I used to love helping my friends build computers on the cheap and the reason I loved your channel is you were using older hardware but testing it on on modern titles so it was easy to check to see how the older tech was stacking up. Tim, I'd hate to see you leave and honestly believe you'll be back "likely Game LIVE Streams" once you see that your RUclips subscribers are here for you to be entertained by you. But I do understand the nature of the beast for I'm also a small RUclipsr and also a Information Technology Professional as my 9-5. It started as a hobby then to a career and then found myself dislike doing I.T. things at times because it felt like WORK and not my passion anymore. I took a long mental break to sustain living LIFE and then returned to make my channel to make it more personal because honestly, VIEWERs are interested in you 80% more then your content. Anyway, I wish you the best and do hope that one day you'll return to at least make Gaming Live Streams and "Tech Talk's". 💯💯💯

Have been an advocate against cannabis from day one. Timmy, you realize this is exactly what the federal government wants you to do right? Get numb and dumb over street drugs, solve the problem with doctor drugs and go back to a just over broke job. Why did you delete your health update video? People should see your video as a set example. Clean up, for real. Take a break and when your properly back on your feet hit up Kijiji and film and flip another system. Don't overwhelm yourself and just keep it simple.

I am not a content creator but I canceled my RUclips Premium subscription. While there is a lot of value, I can't support RUclips any longer because of the questionable, misleading, clickbait, and conspiratorial lies that are allowed on this platform. I'm all for free speech but some of the content RUclips allows is appalling and dangerous.
I have been mulling over starting a YT channel for a couple of years. I am an ambivert who prefers to limit social connections these days for mental health reasons. But I think I am ready to start a channel. Nothing heavy, I am just going to review vintage video games because I just got a huge archive of old DOS and Windows games. I am not really looking for it to be a job. It is a hobby, a way to connect with other people with similar interests. I am not dumping any money into it and I have deliberately chosen a topic which is conducive to a channel that will always stay small. Given the toxic nature of the community these days, I really don't want to make content on new hardware or games. Too much drama. I have a thick skin but not everybody does. It sounds like Timmy Joe doesn't really have such a thick skin and everything piled up and overwhelmed him. When you have a thousand douchebags sending you nasty comments every day, it can get overwhelming. Some people are built for being an entrepreneur - these are the people who are good at RUclips and can make a living at it. Then there are people who were built for a normal 9-5. There is no shame in admitting you are the latter.

@@TimmyJoePCTech hey, I really don't want to see you go. The shortage is probably going to be over in 9 months. (6 months intel gpu, add 3 months for full scale release) also TSMC has full supply coming in again, takes usually 8 months to ramp up supply to normal.
So if I were you, just take a break for 9 months.

I can totally relate, that must have been a tough decision, I hope you are doing better now. For me, it was not so much about the pandemic, I had family reasons that pushed me out of the content creation-- turned out despite hard times, it was just healthy to get out of this RUclips "loop". It's hard when you're doing it all on your own and trying to make something professional out of it, difficult to keep it healthy, you keep pushing yourself and end up sacrificing way too much without even realizing. I feel EXACTLY the same about ads, I hated doing them and felt they ruined my videos-- especially considering smaller channels mostly gets offers from crappy sponsors you don't really feel proud of making ads for. It's tough, because you have to make the channel profitable, so you start looking around and feel like you should do like others, but not everyone can feel good about this. It's forced, it feels bad, it sucks, I mostly turned these crap sponsors away, rather keep my pride than try to sell stuff I don't believe in. I feel the same about doing content on the same/similar parts-- once it's done, it's done! Having to refresh just because RUclips needs constant uploads is ridiculous. If you can continue motivated on that, yeap, more power to you, but I can't, I think it's stupid. I think YT content creation is still going to drive a lot of people insane, sometimes a FORCED BREAK is the only way for you to see how much better off you are. My best wishes, hopefully there will be some random crap here every once in a while!

To your point about working RUclips alone: it sucks. My solution was to create a community of YT collaborators in your space and it’s totally changed my life. If you ever come back, stay in touch with your space, and maybe you’ll enjoy it more the second time around!

I'm like you. Was into gaming, then went to building PC's, now back into OTC stocks like I was in the 90's. But still have interest in games and PC's.
Hey man I'm the same way. I go hard on certain things for spurts: Tech/PC'S/Servers, then DooM & retro gaming, Analog Synthesis & music production, classic/vintage PC'S, Law & Government... With those things, I end up dedicating time very similar to how you explained. Large chunks of time (many months to a year+ ), then I get more interested in one of the other things and dive back into that. Rinse & repeat my entire life.
I'm in my 40's now, and the most important thing I've learned in my life is: Do what makes YOU happy and feel fulfilled in your life. To hell with anyone else that wants to dump on you or be negative. Do your thing. Yourself & family always first.
We only get one life. Do that makes you happy 😁

The pandemic certainly put a huge hurt on PC enthusiasts. I started a small PC business right before the pandemic hit and it has been a really rough go of things. I started doing RUclips just for fun. As long as it is just for fun I won't lose interest in it, but not being able to get any parts and prices being so high has definitely made things less fun. Thank you for sharing!

All the best for the future mate. My own small computer business collapsed as well during all this horseshit. Going from being able to build budget gaming machines that were within a normal working families/individual's pay bracket has gone out the window when its doubled/trebled the price of a build due to the graphics card issue.

Honestly, If you kept up making a video every month or 2 I'd be happy haha. I've seen a lot of channels with irregular upload schedules (sometimes months in between) and the videos always seem to do great. Maybe something to think about, either way wish you all the best!

I have actually stopped building and upgrading computers for the same reason, it's not fun anymore with the extremely high prices.
Breaks my heart that one of my favorite pc youtubers will be out of the so called game, but from the bottom of my heart I thank you for the amazing time that you have not only entertained me but informed me over some of the most wacky and traumatic times in my life going from college to fulI blown adulthood while moving across the country in a pandemic. I wish you all the best and glad that you have gained some happiness back in the crazy world we live in. I think I can speak for all of us that we'll miss you man but we're all glad for you.
Now four years on from the stuff that we went thru in 2020 Nvidia and AMD have kept gpu prices artificially high due to sheer corporate greed.

It sucks all this bs in the economy happened right after you made a big move to go bigger on RUclips and it’s clearly something that made way more stress on you as well. Everything you have done is completely understandable and nobody should have an issue with it.
You are TOO honest to be famous. To be famous one must have an air of mystery that comes from lying by omission. And whereas I understand that, it's something that would require effort that would take away from parts of life that are far more important imo. Like your health and your children in your case.

Honestly man I get it. I feel the same way about the PC space right now. I used to love helping my friends build computers on the cheap and the reason I loved your channel is you were using older hardware but testing it on on modern titles so it was easy to check to see how the older tech was stacking up. I am sorry to see you go but I get why it's literally impossible to continue. I wish you all the best! Timmy I cannot begin to say thank you enough. During your video I continued to find similarities in myself. I too was hugely motivated in the pc arena, build custom rigs, researched new equip etc etc. then something all sort of changed right around the same time it did for you.

But I do understand the nature of the beast for I'm also a small RUclipsr and also a Information Technology Professional as my 9-5. It started as a hobby then to a career and then found myself dislike doing I.T. things at times because it felt like WORK and not my passion anymore. I took a long mental break to sustain living LIFE and then returned to make my channel to make it more personal because honestly, VIEWERs are interested in you 80% more then your content.
Anyway, I wish you the best and do hope that one day you'll return to at least make Gaming Live Streams and "Tech Talk's". 💯💯💯
the sad reality of today... you try to do a quick comedic rick and morty type infomercial about a product you get and everyone thinks your on drugs.......... Dam i smoke weed EVERYDAY for the past 15 years!!!! i work everyday as an in home care aid helping with muscle rehabilitation through a government program for years now.
Have been an advocate against cannabis from day one. Timmy, you realize this is exactly what the federal government wants you to do right? Get numb and dumb over street drugs, solve the problem with doctor drugs and go back to a just over broke job. Why did you delete your health update video? People should see your video as a set example. Clean up, for real. Take a break and when your properly back on your feet hit up Kijiji and film and flip another system. Don't overwhelm yourself and just keep it simple.

I am not a content creator but I canceled my RUclips Premium subscription. While there is a lot of value, I can't support RUclips any longer because of the questionable, misleading, clickbait, and conspiratorial lies that are allowed on this platform. I'm all for free speech but some of the content RUclips allows is appalling and dangerous.
I have been mulling over starting a YT channel for a couple of years. I am an ambivert who prefers to limit social connections these days for mental health reasons. But I think I am ready to start a channel. Nothing heavy, I am just going to review vintage video games because I just got a huge archive of old DOS and Windows games. I am not really looking for it to be a job. It is a hobby, a way to connect with other people with similar interests. I am not dumping any money into it and I have deliberately chosen a topic which is conducive to a channel that will always stay small. Given the toxic nature of the community these days, I really don't want to make content on new hardware or games. Too much drama.
I have a thick skin but not everybody does. It sounds like Timmy Joe doesn't really have such a thick skin and everything piled up and overwhelmed him. When you have a thousand douchebags sending you nasty comments every day, it can get overwhelming.
Some people are built for being an entrepreneur - these are the people who are good at RUclips and can make a living at it. Then there are people who were built for a normal 9-5. There is no shame in admitting you are the latter.

COVID ruined everything. My hobby of building and upgrading PCs has been shot out the window. I enjoyed it so much but I can't justify it with shortages and prices the way they are.
