The blu ray is stellar and I can't afford updating everything. Great review, anyway!
Loved this as well as Once Upon A Time In The West! Bit Rate had no impact on the excellence of video.
THANK GOD! With every Paramount release its a complete crapshoot what we are going to get with encoding/compression/DNR
Yes, when it comes to Paramount a review is necessary before buying. I will not blind buy a Paramount 4K anymore
Thanks Adam. Glad to see the Paramount did a decent job on this one.
This looked good on disc but for some reason, the vudu digital copy that came with it looks even better. Not sure how but it does.
Best film has ever looked. I give video an A
After seeing comparisons I wasn't too excited about getting my 4K, but man... It's probably the most amazing looking 4K in my collection. Stellar job.
This is a PHENOMENAL 4K UHD disc! It looks great, and of course the story is among the best ever written for a Hollywood production.
received and watched my copy yesterday. it was terrific!
It's a pickup for me. In the UK there is only the box set limited edition. Will wait for the standard SKU
Never seen this one before. I was waiting for the 4K to watch it for the first time but I missed out since it is sold out already.
I like the skin tones they appear more natural now. I'll give it a B considering they still applied some DNR (pleas stop). I'll be picking it up.
and Thank you for the video Adam!
Light grain means DNR. Paramount could have done better and not used DNR. I give the video a B-.
I wouldn't call it excessive but there are some noticeable changes in color grading between the new 4K and the 2012 Blu-ray disk that I own. The channel HD-Numérique just published an interesting comparison. Especially scenes with shots of the sky show more of a greenish shade than the blue of the old Blu-ray. Maybe it's closer to the intended look of Polanski's Neo Noir than previous specifications.
I doubt they got his input...
