One adjustment. You note the religious symbolism on both flags. However, the crescent on the Turkish flag is not a reference to Islam, but a reference to the Ottomans. And the Ottoman use of the crescent pre-dates its use as a religious symbol. The use of the crescent as a religious symbol for Islam is derived from its use by the Ottomans.

Some inaccuracies: 1) Greece was the Empire of Alexander and not just a part of it. For this reason the era has since been called Hellenistic (Greek). Also, both populations were not part of Byzantium(East Rome) and Rome. The majority of the inhabitants of Turkey are of Turko-Mongolian and Arab origin. That is, there were no Turks in Rome and Byzantium. Byzantium(Graecorum imperium ,east Rome) was also in essence a Greek empire and not a simple part of it.Even the name Anatolia is greek means East province in Greek
    2) Greece has an aging population but has one of the longest life expectancies in Europe. In other words, the Greeks live much longer than the Turks. 3) Greece has less population but much more homogeneous compared to Turkey which consists of dozens of ethnic groups. 4) Greece typically has 98% Christians and not 81% as the video say. These Christians are all Greek Orthodox. On the contrary, Turkey has many important sects such as the Alevis, who number over ten million. 5) flag of modern turkey was the flag of Greek Byzantium city state which became Constantinople in Roman times.... Thus the pagan symbol passed to the Islamic world after the fall of the city.

The reason of the aging problem with Greece is because many Greeks who are young move to other countries. Characteristics of the Byzantine Empire
After its capital was established in the east, the empire became, in scholarly parlance, the Eastern Roman Empire. Furthermore, because Constantine and all of his successors (except Julian the Apostate, 361 63) were Christians, the empire from here on can also be called the Christian Roman Empire. As a consequence of these two changes the Roman Empire had become the Byzantine. However, though used by scholars, none of these three names was used at the time. Though the empire had its center in a Greek cultural and linguistic area, as a result of which there followed a gradual hellenization of its institutions and culture, the emperors recognized no change. The empire remained the Roman Empire and the citizens (even though Greeks came to domi nate it) still called themselves Romans. The term Hellene (Greek) connoted a pagan. The term Byzantine was an invention of Renais sance scholars after the fall of the Byzantine Empire and was never used by its contemporaries. By the middle of the seventh century Greek had become the official language of all spheres of government and the army; nevertheless the empire remained "Roman" and despite divisions of its territory at times it was always seen as a single unit. Essentially the Byzantine Empire was a combination of three major cultural components: (1) Roman in political concepts, administration. law, and military organization. (2) Greek in language and culture, and (3) Christian in religion.

    Pros
    - Eastern Gate of the EU for Trade, Pipelines, and businesses (massive potential to capitalize on this)
    - Massive Tourism Industry for the size of the country
    - Strategic mountainous and easy to defend geography
    - A well respected, stable and trustworthy democratic nation
    - A united largely homogenous and well educated population/work force
    Cons
    - Thousands of islands are very expensive to maintain, as there is a need for tens or hundrends of ports, airports, and other infrustructure to support them, let alone supply them.
    - Mountainous country makes building transportation infrastructure hard to develop and expensive
    - Relatively small and aging population
    - Corruption is somewhat high
    - The economy although fast recovering from the crisis is still not very good.
    - The need to field and pay for a massive military force (for its size) to defend from Turkey.
    Turkey
    Pros
    - Large and relatively young population
    - Large and somewhat easy to defend geographical location, especially the wealthier regions in Eastern Anatolia.
    - A strong manufacturing sector, and a very promising economy
    - An unflinching pull of international investors to the economy, despite recent problems.
    - Strong Armed forces and defence industry guarantee the nation's safety
    - A large Tourism industry
    Cons
    - Economy although promising, still needs alot of work.
    - Overly aggressive geopolical maneuvering has made its surrounding neighbours and allies distrustful and less eager to cooperate.
    - A not very homogenous population, unrest is frequent.
    - Massive eastern border is very hard to secure and defend
    - A not so stable democracy with an increased danger of military coups.
    - Massive and mountainous geography makes developing transportation infrastructure expensive and difficult.

Actually there is a mistake when talking about currency that everyone makes, The Silver Coins are called ' Kuruş ' while the Paper Money are called ' Lira '. People also call 1 Kuruş Either 1 Lira or 1 Kuruş

    • @atakanpayman

While it is true the silver coins are generaly called "kuruş" it is not the case with the number "1". Kuruş, is by definition, is the equivilent of 1/100 of a lira. We both have "1 kuruş" and "1 lira". And both are silver coins unlike the USD.

5:16 I have something to say here. In fact, 99 percent of Turkey is not Muslim. In the past, the government wrote Muslim on the ID of all newborn children. and even the atheist ones didn't want to change it because it was so hard to change. I've heard the real rate is around 88 percent. and this rate is much less in the young population.
