I know this is Red Rocks giving a tutorial of their own song, but the chorus parts just don't sound like the recording to me. There's a distinct slide up right before each line in the chorus, starting at 5:25.
Usually in tutorials like this, you have one guy trying to cover what two or three guys are doing live on stage. It's hard to represent each individual part in one take, so he's probably giving us the core parts. A lot of guys will say in their tutorials something like "This isn't note for note, but if you're the only EG at your church you should play it like this:".
You don't need a capo to play this song. it's completely unnecessary. You can just use barre chords. It's baffling to me why so many CCM guitarists use capos. I suppose it's a crutch to use when you aren't good at barre chords? Anyway, rant over.. Bar the F chord at the 8th fret and play away...
@@chrisdierolf2296 Why the capo hate? No one cares how a guitarist plays a part, as long as it sounds good. BTW, Jonny Buckland (Coldplay) uses a capo to great effect. Brian May uses a Sixpence coin instead of a pick. As guitarists we have many tools available to us and we can use whatever we want to get the job done.
@@jeffersonfreed2716Because too many guitarists use it as a crutch. Can’t play barre chords? Just use a capo! AND when playing live it’s impractical to have to stop and attach/adjust a capo. You have to be able to go song to song smoothly and quickly. The Coldplay guy has a guitar tech handing him a capo’d guitar for that song. Not a good real world example for most of us.
Sure love that benson chimera in the back 🥲
I Saw the pick flew away, Dave didn't let that stop him.
I really like this song. Been practicing it; With and without the pick😁
Thank you for these tutorials! So helpful! And great tones here.
I just discovered this song last night, and cant stop listening to it! Submitting it to my worship pastor to add to our library. Such a great song

@@Emmy_206 Sounds like ascending sixths similar to "The Stand" pre-chorus
Replace the root note with the 5th and slide the lower note up to the next chord
Please rhythm guitar tutorial
your pick flew away hahah
Bass Tutorial please
Drum tutorial please :)))
Where would I capo this, or play this in the key of B?
Add 6 more frets. So capo 9. 😂 probably best to fully transpose it and play it differently.
What if not using a capo?

When he starts adding the open 4th string, it would be hard playing it the same way he does without the capo, but nothing you couldn't work around.
