I want to thank you...from the bottom, deepest part of my heart. No one out there ACTUALLY explained how to use these compact lights as main lights. They all simply just turned it on while still having their key light on.
I’m so happy for you go full time RUclips. You’re the reason I bought an a6500 and the sigma 18 and 30. You’re opinion was correct. Those lenses are incredible. Best to you! Thank you for doing what you do. Keep up the great work.
The fact that it tells you how long it will last in a time value is so cool. I was on a search for a mini panel light a month back and went for the "budget" option that everyone suggested on RUclips. It was an ESDDI LED Light, super clunky in person, lasted max 30 minutes when fully charged and additional batteries cost $20. This seems like a significantly better choice for not too much more, also a good medium point before the Aputure MC RGB!
Yeah, I really love that feature. Guessing how long that light will last from other lights can have its challenges. So seeing it on the screen is incredibly handy!
Bought my 1st product, the Mini a few weeks ago. LOVE it. On-camera, in-studio, I use it as an AF aid....helping end the "searching". Off-camera, I can light up small stuff that I'd usually use a speed light flash for. I also use it for general utility- like a flashlight. I think Lume Cube products should be staple of every shooter's arsenal of tools; they really do open up possibilities...ONLY limited by your own creative juices.
4:41 you can see that your bigger softbox is turned on bouncing light off your wall. So the end result we’re seeing with your key light setup is also influenced by this? Would be nice to see how it looks with just the mini and reflector lighting your face to get an accurate representation.
I’ve ordered my cube! Your video is so helpful & easy to watch. Your wit & charm is so appreciated! I look forward to other product reviews. Thanks so much!
Your video made me realize I could turn my small LED light right to the wall instead of right in my face, and that it made no difference (with full power against 15% before). Thank you so much for that !
2 things. 1. I purchased a Pixel P1 last night and the this video comes out yes! And 2. The dinkun arm thing just shot up its market value like 50% for being on Sids video. 😂 I will so post something up when my light gets here. Thx Sid
This is also good for attaching to a bike handle bar if say when it's dark and need to get to and from somewhere on your bike. Or in a mandatory evacuation, and your bike is your only means of transportation. This light is good for that, too.
Before I start I would like to say your such an inspiration to me and you’ve inspired me to create a RUclips Channel. I hope one day I’ll have just as much subs as you do 🥺💜
Combine some of these awesome lights with a Crane M2 gimbal, Sony ZV-1 camera, that ZV-1 cage by SmallRig and a microphone of your choice, the no compromise NATural ND filters by Tiffen (1,2,3, and 4 stop ones along with the lens mate kit to stick on the filter threads on the ZV-1), and you got a slick little film making kit. Don't use a variable ND filter if you care about color rendition. The internal ND of the ZV-1 is about 3 stops so that's good and it does not tint the image like the cheaper ND filters do. I'm embarrassed to be a Panasonic GH5 and GH5S owner after they made the G100 to compete with the ZV-1. Just bought a ZV-1. I love it. I'm buying another too. Thank you Sony for trying :)
Cool video as usual. But wasn't there another light right behind the reflector? Looked like a 120D with the light dome? I'm guessing that would be a "general background" light but don't you think that also affects positively and helps the whole setup in general? Would've been nice to see what it looks like JUST with the lumecube.
Thanks so much for your informative video. Sorry, you may have reviewed the warmth settings of the light but I missed it. What is the warmth rating of this mini light? It looks very cold/white. I'm only interested in 3K ratings or less because of the harshness of white light (nothing over 3K). Thanks, again for this interesting video "spotlighting" mini lights that might be useful for folks that travel.
Bougth 2 of these and they are super bright. I wish they came with free pouches & an adapter for point and shoot cameras (I have Sony HX 99) that does not have built it hot flash shoe.
Do you think a similar result can be achieved if the light was behind a reflector using the diffusion cloth layer? Or would it be less bright and create a hot spot?
This looks like a great light for video conferencing. Have any recommendations for mounting it to a 13" macbook pro? I like to keep very light and agile so mounting directly to my mac is preferred. Thanks!
I am a wedding filmmaker and still learning about lights. I am looking to buy a small and bright Bi-color light but now those RGB lights make me very confused. I don't know which one is the best option for me. Originally I was thinking to buy Aputure AL-F7. I would really appreciate your suggestions.
Would using the original bigger sized “lume cube panel” work the same with more output or cast a shadow off the bounce since the light itself has a bigger shape?
Whelp, that's something else to add to my list. I've got a couple of the Aputures already, but these are looking pretty sweet. Plus that diffuser that comes with it looks like a much better solution than what comes with the M9 or the MX.
The light at 1% has 15hr battery life. If I use the light at 1% for 5hrs, will the battery bar indicate i have 10hrs left? Does the battery bar drop in bars after use or is it just an icon indicating max outpout if used at certain %?
Per reviews on Amazon, the suction cup the video conference lighting kit is unreliable and often falls! Any recommendations?.... or will Lume come up w/ a better system?
This is genius. I was looking for a softbox for a Lume Cube Panel Go or a Lume Cube 2.0. Nada. But this produces the same effect. Why didn't I think of this!? Haha
What's your SUPER SECRET lighting hack!?
I use my iPhone light with a tissue as a diffusor pretty often haha, works alright but its nor overly bright so not nearly as high quality as yours!!
@@cjandersen14 HAHAHA pretty good idea I guess
Here’s an idea! Bounce through iPhone light to a large sheet of aluminum foil!
Sidney Diongzon ohhhh that’s an awesome idea I’ll try that! Thanks man 🙏🏻
Anytime!
I want to thank you...from the bottom, deepest part of my heart. No one out there ACTUALLY explained how to use these compact lights as main lights. They all simply just turned it on while still having their key light on.
2 years later, I want to echo this same exact sentiment. Seriously man, thank you. This is gold.
Exactly!

God's work.
Exactly what I was thinking.. why'd you do us like that Sidney?
You exposed the trick! 😄
Awesome Sidney! Thanks
That last part is keyyyyy now I gotta hack something together to easily assemble and disassemble
Interesting little light. It has so much power. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
This is honestly so perfect for almost every small-scale project
Sidney, been following you for awhile, and you just keep getting better. Keep it up my man.

I bought the mini cube for a wedding a couple months ago for sparkler exit. Wow, wish I'd had this tool in my kit years ago!!
Its so cool - I love the mini and had so much working with it over the last few weeks. Great video dude.
Yep!!! Thanks for watching!
Mindblown. Thank you for this
Thank, I did not think about the reflecting option. Way cool.
Great review! We'll have to try that white t-shirt suggestion :D
Thanks, great video. Just ordered one of these even though I already have another light. I prefer this Lume cube mini where the battery is integrated.
Yeah, I love that portable lights these days are powerful!

Glad this was helpful!
great presentation, crisp to the topic, loved it Sidney!!
Thanks so much!
Yippee, I just bought one on a total whim. Not arrived yet but excited to play with it. Glad to see it looks like it’s gonna be genuinely useful 😀
bought Lume Cube! great vid with great ideas - thank you
It’s true! Love that little light!
I see light!

Yeaaaah im getting this 👊👊👊 thank you for this video👏👏👏
Can't wait to try this! Thanks! I
Just got one. I’m going to do your set up when I start doing video

I just received mine. Thanks for this trick--super cool and easy!
Snaaaap! This light is dope.
Hey and BTW. You can use these portable lights for non camera things too in a pinch. Used it to light up motorcycle in my garage and as a patio light
Thanks for the video. Do you think this is a good video to use outdoors to take videos and pics with my phone at dusk/night. Will it be bright enough?

The "warm" settings goes to 3200K, which is tungsten. Glad this was helpful!
Thanks. Good!
Great video thanks. Can this light be mounted to a GoPro 8?
i would need something like this but rgb, i would love to use this for taking pictures of my miniature dioramas
They have a new RGB version!!!

thank you so much bro. Good video!
God bless you! 😊🔥
Do you think a similar result can be achieved if the light was behind a reflector using the diffusion cloth layer? Or would it be less bright and create a hot spot?
I think it would create more of a spot light effect if done that way. I like bouncing off solid surfaces because it spreads the light more evenly!
Sidney Diongzon true, makes sense, thanks!
I just order two of those after going through ur review
Nice text tracking when talking about the ports and buttons in the video! Might i ask how you did that? It was really cool
Final Cut Pro!
@@SidneyDiongzon Oh okay. Thanks
Really like the setup to get more out of the pocket lights
Excellent explanation. Thank you very much

Interesting key light. It be interesting to compare something affordable like this to a 120d.
Might have to make a video about that...
great video Sidney, but how does it compare to the aperture MC?
The Aputure MC is different because it's a RGB light. The Lume Cube is just bi-color.
What you recommend using them on the hotshoe or just somewhere on the side for photographing people?
This dude is PRO PRO PRO
this is what i've been looking for! thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the hack. Really enjoyed the hug. We all need it right now. 👍🏼
Here’s another hug! 🤗
@@SidneyDiongzon so awesome. I've learned so much from your channel. Here is one back at ya. 🤗
i recently saw this product and found your video very informative! just wondering what’s your opinion on using this light for film photography?
Nice explaination of the product and how to bounce lighting using small lighting :D it makes it soft light too thanks!
Are both things attached to the same stand support?
can i use it as a key light for streaming? like i just have to plug it to keep the battery going for hours? thanks
Thanks for the hug and thanks for the tutorial.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
Good work. hi from Fort Worth
Great video man! I was wondering if this little light would be worth buying. Definitely picking one up now! Subbed. Thanks again!

4:40 yoo i think that bounce light fra the dome helps a lot too🤔
really enjoy this lume cubes are quality
I LOVE THEM!
Been looking for this. Thank you sir!
Glad to help!
Do you recommend and kits that can be used for tinting the colour of the light other than white.
Hi! from the Philippines ♥
Kumusta!!
Wow that was 2 lite videos in a row. What a tiny little light.
Have you thrown it in your big softbox yet? I wonder if it would be bright enough to work well that way as well.
Do you have a tip to avoid shadows in overhead shots ?
Would using the original bigger sized “lume cube panel” work the same with more output or cast a shadow off the bounce since the light itself has a bigger shape?
I would assume the bigger light would be output more power
Great video Sidney!, thank you for the amazing hack
It’s pretty easy right!???
Whelp, that's something else to add to my list. I've got a couple of the Aputures already, but these are looking pretty sweet. Plus that diffuser that comes with it looks like a much better solution than what comes with the M9 or the MX.
They're amazing!
can you RUN the light off a usb brick? or just charge it?
I’d like one of those lights…but it’s not on their website. Do you have a link? Thanks!!
Panel Mini
What brightness setting would you use if you want the light to last for around 7 hours?
Probably around 10% brightness.
@@SidneyDiongzon, thank you.
Hey Sidney, if you have that on high or very high would you think it will degrade or burnout faster even tho they are LEDs??
Good stuff as always!
Thanks dude!
I just picked up one of these lights. Bouncing the light onto a reflector is a swell idea. Have you tried it behind a shoot thru panel or umbrella?
Dang thats a dope light! I just uploaded a review too!! Ill have to get one of these I think itd be super helpful to have some more pro lighting.
I really LOVE this light!
6:48 oh men, you hugging me. So sweet. And I feel not awkward
Amazing hack!
It's definitely cheaper than the AL-MX and that display is a nice addition! The AL-MX would benefit from these upgrades!

do you have multiple for fill and rim light?
I got one today. It’s nice but wow it’s tiny. I guess I didn’t read the specs. Great review great tips
Can this be used with a Go Pro 9?
Yep!
How do you use it for iPhone photography? We have a 5 year old child interested and this seems like a cheap option.
great video

That's so awesome to hear!! Wooo!
Can I charge the panel with the powerbank while the light is on?
YEP!!!
This channel is underrated! it deserve more views and subscribers! wth RUclips?!
Does the charging cord act a a.c. constant power cord too or only charging
