It´s the best time to travel with kids, when they are under 12, because they usually cannot refuse to go! They enjoy being with mum and dad. They can walk, they sleep in car, train or bus. As a family we did it with our son and daughter (now in their thirties). We went to my family in Guadeloupe, to Paris, Denmark, India, Egypt. A lot of memories and photos. Thanks for showing your special journey with your lovely girls. And dog.

What a wonderful episode! I love how Europeans love to hike and there are so many accessible trails and paths. You and the girls walking thru the villages, meeting cows, daddy needing ice cream and having a temper tantrum, lots of fun. Ziggy did really well on this trip, muzzle and all. Rome is magnificent of course. Thanks for sharing.

Loved Philip's impersonation of...every kid in the world. The whole video was beautiful but I can never get enough of Rome. Enjoyed seeing so many familiar places.
I love how the girls are playing on the one piece of furniture in the museum while mom and dad are admiring the art. Something my four year old daughter would do too.
Phillip, I have owned a yacht too and cruised the New Zealand coast. Loved it but I was 10 minutes drive from N Z largest marina and sometimes go for an afternoon sail on my own for my pleasure. My advice ...charter and get 90% of your passion catered for in 3 weeks . No stress, no marina fees, no maintenance and no hassle.
Completely agree, I keep my smaller boat in a shed when not using it, minimal maintenance. Children learn much more developing sailing skills on suitable dinghies, they learn to take responsibility for their own actions, and co-operate with crew and other sailors, you can't argue with the wind!
Totally agree. Scratch the itch and get a real feel about how much time a boat takes up.

My husband and I were in Ritten two weeks ago staying in a hotel at the Rimmer train stop. The trip down the mountain at night is magical - a hush through the trees.

Beautiful scenery in the video! The marking above the door is not a good luck sign for the house. It's called an "Epiphany blessing" which is a Christian tradition. It's written with blessed chalk each year on January 6th to bless your home 😊

We all have many dreams
If we have the time, the financial ability, the trust in our loved ones… anything is a possible dream or reality
BUT… everyone needs to be on board in sailing ⛵️ not just physically but mentally emotionally and willingly to learn so many things charting, tides, mechanical, each person on the journey needs to know how to handle the ship, the galley, the medical including minor surgery mending etc and so much more
Take it at a slow pace if this is a serious thought for the future
I’ve seen many couples, drift apart because 1 has the passion and the other has the interest and or curiosity or both, but Not the passion
You both, I’m sure can and will find the best answers for your family …
Keep the faith and within the love patience and more information
The answers will become obvious

Looks like a very fun vacation. I love Italy, and we (Hubby & I) celebrated our 5th anniversary in 2018 in Italy. We spent 16 days in Italy and at the time I had to use a wheeled walker because of my back. I still enjoyed all of the sights. We even saw the Pope on the day of the Immaculate Mother on December 8th. We want to visit it again. To stand in the City Center is a moving experience. To have your feet standing in the same space that has been in existence for thousands of years. Your girls will always remember their experiences there.
Anna and Phillip, I love your videos! As someone who lived in Oberbozen and Paris for several years, your videos kick up the Nostalgia. All four of my kids have fond memories of adventuring across Europe but Oberbozen holds special memories for us. I’m glad your trip was so memorable. A great post. However, I would be a tad disappointed if a boat was purchased before the Outbuilding were completed. I started watching for the wonderful renovations. To see the Chateau come back to life in such a loving and caring way has been extremely enjoyable. For me a boat is indulgent and unnecessary.

I am from America and have traveled to Europe on many occasions. I have to say that Rome, Firenze, Piza, and Venice were by far the best places I have visited.
Love the boat. We owned a 46ft sailing yacht. It was.so much fun, hard work and expensive to berth. ❤

Definitely recognize the Villa of Livia fresco as the washroom inspiration! Anna, the charm your talent can add to a chateau hallway of a reproduction of it or something is exciting to think! ...but I also think trying for a human boy is a great idea too. So..., there's that.

You live in Normandy, of course you need a boat! And if you're a lover of Italian wine, Italian frescos and such, it only seems logical to choose an Italian boat. But honestly Philipp: maybe it would have been easier to convince Anna by taking her to a sailing holiday in the Mediterranean beforehand, with warm water, sun, good food and a comfy boat to sleep in by the sound of gentle waves. I know several people who say this type of holiday is by far the best holiday of their lifetime. She would have said 'yes' in no time! Fingers crossed.
