- Have you ever been playing a vocaloid game and wondered, Why Isn't Gumi in Project Diva?
With all the vocaloids and utauloids out there it may seem kind of strange that the companies associated with vocaloid concerts and games namely, Crypton and Sega wouldn't embrace the diverse number of virtual singers that their creation has spun off.
Despite all the various vocaloids that are really deserving of recognition the games & concerts seemingly focus on only Miku, Rin & Len, Luka, Meiko, and Katio.

Well you're right but considering that Rin & Len used to be sold together as one voicebank (not anymore with their V4) and that they're the reflection of each other through the mirror I don't know if we should count it as 2 or 1 but I guess that still make it 6 or to be fair 5.5 ;p

it's actualy 9 if you count each individual one. There's Miku, Len, Rin, Luka, Meiko, Kaito, Teto, Neru, and Yowane. Teto, Neru, and Yowane are UTAUs but they are owned by crypton future media. Crypton future media was supposed to have a 10th vocaloid that would have came out the same around when miku and them came out but it's either he got stuck in purgatory or Miku told him in the way gorden ramsey would say. Possibly got stuck in purgatory for 2 reasons: They wanted to stick with miku and keep updating her since her popularity or CV04 got stuck in Vocaloid purgatory and have to find a way out in the middle of Vocaloid 12. i mean that every time they want to release it, Vocaloid 5 would be coming out and they would have to either finish it or cancel it/put it on hiatus which I believe he was put on hiatus since the end vocaloid 2 and no news came out for him. I don't believed he was cancelled so.. We guess we have to wait until either miku becomes a extinct dinosaur or he got out of Vocaloid purgatory

A-nabellish [RAGyuo] Neru and Haku are _not_ Utauloids
they are edits of Miku's voice
or in some cases, Neru can be an edit of Rin's voice
Well at least gumi appeared on the PROJECT MIRAI series for the 3ds so I guess SEGA paid internet co. to let them use her on those games(?)
That's what I said, but got a reply saying that Project Mirai isn't a Project Diva game. It's a spin off.
Project DIVA is too big
yes Project Mirai is a spinoff, but, like any other Diva game, you get Sega and Crypton logos at the start, meaning they did pay to have Gumi in the series, but she still isn't a playable character, appearing to give gifts and advice to the player and to accompany Rin in 1 2 fanclub and Invisible, Miku in Matryoshka, and Luka in Happy Synthesizer.
Actually, GUMI does sings in a few songs in Project Mirai DX but you have to clear the game, which lets you change vocals.
What songs was Gumi in, in Project Mirai?
I would pay everything I have to get Gumi in a PD game ;-;

Sorry for late reply, but gumi has her own game! So does IA! Gumis game is called Megpoid The Music For the psp (android or ios i think) and IAs game IA VT Colorful for the PSVita!

They both great when lamaze p is involved. XD Depends on the song but miku does tend to steal some of gumi's songs. xD

Well Crypton Future Media Inc created Miku, Len • Rin, Luka, MEIKO and KAITO, and the Project Diva games were made in partnership with SEGA, so it is probably fair that they didn't put other VOCALOIDs in the game since VOCALOIDs like GUMI aren't from CFM Inc. Teto, Haku, and Neru were added to the game because they were officially recognized fanloids based off of CFM characters. GUMI was added to certain songs in Mirai, but that is about all we will get out of her from the PD/PM series.
Technically MEIKO and KAITO were creations of Yamaha Corporation itself with Crypton Future Media merely being the distributors. It wasn't until later that Crypton created a line of Vocaloids themselves (Miku, Rin/Len, and Luka),and then later they personally upgraded MEIKO and KAITO.
LeonGun8 Still, if it were distrubution it would be considered Crypton line-up.
While technically yes, there's a difference in that Crypton actively created the Character Vocal series, while they merely distributed KAITO and MEIKO. A distributor sells the merchandise, they didn't create it. That said Crypton DID develop KAITO and MEIKO V3, and they had planned a VOCALOID 2 version for both of them but it took them too long.
LeonGun8 Yes but still. Although they were manufactured by Yamaha, they were distributed as a part of the CFM line up which is probably how they got into the game.
Oh yes, that last part is precisely true. They also needed to promote KAITO and MEIKO while they worked on the upgraded versions. CFM also added Teto, Haku and Neru as extra modules due to how popular they were as well, even though they are not even official Vocaloids (Teto even began as an April Fools Joke that trolled on Miku's popularity).
Let's start a petition to get Gumi, Gakupo, IA, and other popular-but-not-Crypton-Voclaoids into Project Diva!
Imposibble, unless CFM want to spend a lot of money. Cuz even if CFM did end up agreed to let other utauloid or vocaloid in it, it probably won't be forever cuz as example, if they(CFM) want to use Gumi, they had to pay a certain amount of money to the company that created Gumi and the amount of it could be MILLION of dollar because of Gumi popularity. So, from what I saw, it's pretty much imposibble and Project Mirai can't be count since from what I read n saw that it's apparently a spin-off. But yeah, you get me.

Most of my favorite songs are from Gumi so I think she's great. Some of the worst songs ever made are also by Gumi, but that's not her fault. xD

Top5Anime Mirai may be a spin off series, but it is STILL a Vocaloid game. Just like the Project Diva games.

They used her likeness and some of her songs but that's where it stopped. Since it was a spin-off and on a portable system, I imagine they were able to get her for cheaper. But using her on Project Diva is a whole different beast altogether.
Akko Orio it's different, Gumi only get the dancing and instructions part in PM but the she didn't get to be part of the singing one. So it's not the same as being PD,
I don't even like this content but seeing the graph with the subtitle that it doesn't matter is amazing.
I would love to get CyberDiva and some of the lesser known vocaloids out there! Only exposing the same ones over and over makes it hard for the lesser known ones to get any spotlight

Simply put, Cyrpton does not own GUMI, so they don't* use her.
*Yeah, she does come out in Mirai but that doesn't mean she's part of them now.
Reggielacey 223 That was a Nico Nico party, not Miku Expo. Crypton does NOT have the rights to Gumi and IA, and the only reason Gumi was in Mirai was because it was either cheaper to buy the rights because it was a spin off game, or because they owned her nendoroid modules.

Project Sekai includes songs that use Gumi, IA, and now Gakupo (at least in Japanese version for Gakupo in the form of the song Bad End Night).
IA sings that one song that is "one of the hardest vocaloid songs", if you know it it's almost everywhere.
I think next to the main 5 (6 if you count Rin and Len as separate vocaloids despite being reflections of each other) vocaloids Gumi has quite a few songs in Project Sekai.

for those wondering why all the other vocaloids like oliver gakupo or IA aren't in project diva: ONLY VOCALOIDS BY CRYPTON and those are miku len/rin luka kaito and meiko and exceptions are sakine meiko haku and neru who are fan made vocaloids based on the CRYPTON vocaloids and teto who is an UTAU who has A LOT of covers by mostly crypton vocaloid songs
I wish it would happen but since cryptonloids are not even vocaloids anymore it's nearly impossible

Fun fact: Gumi was going to be in (Future tone) Then was scrapped due to license issues She is found in (future tones) files.

Yamaha is one of the main developers of the VOCALOID software and the creators of MEIKO and KAITO (that's why they are named in all-caps actually). SO yes, they came first. Crypton distributed MEIKO and KAITO, then they personally had a hand in the creation of the Vocaloid brand that was spearheaded by Hatsune Miku, and they where the ones who upgraded MEIKO and KAITO to Version 3.
The main reason Yamaha doesn't get credited is because of how they had to separate themselves from the possibility of producers creating clones of real-life singers through their software. Basically,they only sell the software.
Gumi was also in niconico party alongside with Gackapo

I wish the Project Mirai series continues on the Switch so that we can get more GUMI, but I also kinda wish Sega at least made a game starring GUMI so that they didn't have to make Crypton and Internet Co deal with one-another... I mean, she has more than enough great songs to fill out an entire game, and maybe they could even include other Internet Co Vocaloids like Gakupo for example...

Honestly Gumi has fallen from her grace. Most producers don't use her anymore aside from the occasional English producer(she seems to be the go to for english songs). I honestly miss her

...er, I don't know if this is basically what you go over in the video, but the reason Gumi isn't in project diva is because the company that created her is a different company then the one that created Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin&Len, Megurine Luka, and MEIKO and KAITO. The game is a collaboration between Crypton Future Media and SEGA. Crypton Future Media handles Miku & co., which Internet Co., handles GUMI, since...they own her, ya know.
Interestingly, GUMI was in the Project Mirai series, likely due to fans requesting her to appear in the series; especially since songs like 1, 2, Fanclub and Happy Synthesizer are so popular. Crypton probably made an agreement with Internet Co. for use of their property.
GUMI actually has her own game on the PSP: MEGPOID the Music. It's not as great as Project Diva, but it's a fun little game with tons of GUMI songs. The modules leave a bit to be desired, though, IMO.

So my understanding is that Gumi would have to make up the money Crypton has to pay through sales.
