Tenchu: Shadow Assassins is a stealth game developed by Acquire and published by FromSoftware in Japan and Ubisoft worldwide for Wii in 2008 and the PlayStation Portable in 2009.
Shadow Assassins allows players to take control of both Rikimaru and Ayame. The camera is an over-the-shoulder point of view. All of the 10 missions are ground-based. There are no healthbars in this game except sword fight parts. Players will play the first five stages and the last one using Rikimaru and stages six to nine as Ayame. There are also 50 side missions called "Assignments".
Ayame is faster but weaker, making it harder for her to hide bodies. According to FromSoftware, their stages are also completely different; Rikimaru's are more straightforward, while Ayame's are "a little trickier, she can use the environment more." There are about 10 multi-purpose items in the game; for example, a cat can be used as distraction as well as a scout.
On Wii, players use the analog stick on the Wii Remote's Nunchuck accessory to move, A button for actions, holding B button while moving forward to run or while moving sideways to strafe, and the C button for jumping (a long jump can be performed while running). The Wii Remote is also used for first-person perspective sword fighting.
The gameplay of the PlayStation Portable version is generally the same. However, its controls have been altered to fit the handheld's functionality, thus removing the motion controls; however, some similar controls have been retained, such as moving the analog stick to move forward, and pressing the D-pad to choose between the player's items. The controls for doing a stealth kill has been slightly changed; the player now has to press the face buttons of the PSP console to trigger it and moving the analog stick.

This was my favourite game as a kid. I just recently bought a psp 3000, and just started downloading games on it. I saw this in the list of games for the psp, and it’s definitely a must have for me haha
is there a trick to getting the stealth kills out? when the square prompt shows on my screen, i press it but all that happens is the screen zooms on and the opponent turns red but nothing happens. i dont see the directional buttons show up in order to perform the kill...
😁
Bro same when i was kid i dont know the name of this game so 7 years later i get nostalgia again when play it
My First game in psp almost a decade ago..
What a masterpiece
Mine 2as Shinobido: Tales of a Ninja
4 year old me could definitely not play this game correct but still had a lot fun.
sameeee
Not many people know this game as the community is small… I wish to engage in more discussion with like minded individuals
Old school Tenchu fan. I'm setting up emulators on a Razers Edge and Steam Deck, and thinking of a full series run! Just trying to decide if I want to do T3 with WoH on ps2 or see if the xhox emulator for PC, Xemu, works with the Return From Darkness (that was my favorite version)
I still like the prequel on ps1 the most. This psp one kinda had assassin creed vibes. The old school ones kind of have a fromsoft kinda vibe. Plus the flips and grapple hook, thoes games are ahead of its time.
Never got to play a Tenchu PSP game, so looking forward to trying them out, which might you recommend first @officialreviews7 I’m a fan of the psx ones and wrath of heaven
I am just downloading the game after seeing only 2mins of this gane😂
@@chopperlal1138same here those first 2 mins is all i needed to see that its fire i was suprised when i found out FromSoftware made it no wonder its so good and ahead of its time
I had this on the Wii release and it was my introduction to ninja games like this and from software and I will beat this game one day also I would love a remastered version of the tenchu series
of all tenchu this is my fav. more stealthy game than the other tenchu
I still play it this masterpiece from time to time... 🙂☯️🙃👌
Agreed 👌
Bushido blade, remember that one....that as a masterpiece also 👍
you guys might think this is in china, this tenchu is actually based in the medieval period in japan around 1300-1600s ninjas are medieval japanese agents while samurai is their knight
NO link No like
@@MTC008 Pretty obvious, the dynasties and samurais are very different, they have different weaponry, culture and armory, sure they have some similarities but it's obvious enough to distinguish the two.
This game was really fun. The first Aragami is similar and fun too.
First Aragami is fun. Second one had to many technical issues and melee is difficult. Sad :/
@@belto3149 I actually liked the second one a lot more. Reminded me of tenchu z a lot
I used to be so scared playing this when I was like 8😂
I missed this game 12 years ago
This game is a masterpiece and also once you master the controls its a walk in the park when you go on missions
I’ve never seen this game! I was looking up about Fatal Shadows and Wrath of Heaven! Gonna play this.
You can see what inspired Sekiro in this
Only a publish but it’s clear they were thinking about this style for ages
that was the only reason i bought sekiro. and i sold that game so fast because it's nothing like tenchu. it's just another souls game.
Can they release it on Switch???
This is so amazing except the one on one battle and I also don't like the ending about Ayame becoming evil but I love how the overall mechanics of the game, the music, the voice actors. I miss the good times!
Is it me? Or can I hear the James Bond theme during the gameplay?
Classic ninja game with no fluff. Impossible to get anything like this nowadays.
I just got the game today and am loving it just waiting on the psp to charge
Ps4 and ps5 remake please
whenever i think of dreamcast first game i think of is tenchu. i fkin loved that game. cool to see this on psp i tihnk ill give it a god with my emulator
is there a trick to getting the stealth kills out? when the square prompt shows on my screen, i press it but all that happens is the screen zooms on and the opponent turns red but nothing happens. i dont see the directional buttons show up in order to perform the kill...
fix your keybinds on your settings
Sneaky sneaky
Wow psp version got tutorial and it look different , originally in PS1 there's only a text and boom enemy.
From software ruined the franchise with this game a lot of people blame tenchu z but it’s really this game has nice graphics but the shoehorned gimmick motion controls ruined the game that could’ve been goon
i think this is the remake of Tenchu 1 on PS1.
it is not
@@jewishjellydonut *Remake not Remaster.
@@Theryo2007 it is neither
@@Theryo2007 still neither dumbass lmfao
It's kind of ps4 feeling
Who came here after AC Shadow😂
I love this game Ninja Assassin mode 🥷
Nostalgia
Mon enfance 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
is this better than the ps2 version?
Looks like it
this would be the 4th part of the Tenchu series which was released only on Wii and PSP, but not PS2.
If you like the classic Tenchu games you'll probably feel that this game is very different since it plays nothing like its predecessors. Personally, my favorite Tenchu games are the original trilogy and Fatal Shadows, but Shadow Assassins is a enjoyable game once you get used to its controls.
@@Control-Max the game is very mediocre and it’s weird it was made for the wii in 2010 when it should have been on ps3 with normal gameplay and instead of garbage gimmick motion controls. They dropped the ball and basically killed the franchise mainly from softwares fault.
@@kaisarr7632 well, the game being mediocre is very subjective. For me it's far from a masterpiece but I actually enjoyed it.
the original game wii version
hope they will port it to switch
I nees to buy a psp and this game 😍
so it's sort of manhunt 2
