As an Australian I’m very used to American corporations stealing our IP. Your entire patent and copyright systems are corrupt and broken. It was American courts who allowed Apple to patent a rectangle with rounded corners, your courts that allowed a photographer to “own” any image photographed against a black background. Used by everyone for decades but your courts recognised his “rights”. Can’t blame the Chinese from giving Western corporations a bit of karma.
On a related note GWM cars and trucks are excellent and very popular down under. Chinese companies bother us much less than the decades we spent enduring overpriced under-featured crap from GM and Ford. Great Wall (GWM) may well have reverse engineered this bike. But the next one will be all theirs, just as happened with their cars.

A Gold Wing is more than a collection of parts. Any company can copy the parts and put it together. But that doesn't mean that the parts are functionally identical or made to the same height standards. Nor does it mean that the company will stand behind their product, and fix any issues that may arise.
Just because you copy a product and you make improvements on that "copy" doesn't mean that it is superior than the original.

“There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person’s lawful prey. It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

I’m retired and enjoy restoring older Honda motorcycles from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. I bought my first Honda in 1968 and have owned 35 Hondas since then. Honda is known for great design and great manufacturing that results in quality products. Although I do see more quality products coming out of China than I saw in the past, in general Chinese companies are still known for copying rather than innovating, and for very shoddy quality in manufacturing. I’m guessing 5 years from now I will still be looking for my first sighting of one of these Chinese “Goldwing” bikes on a US road.

Wonder if they did when Honda designed the GL1500 subjected to extreme testing for design validation, and still many issues had to be addressed over time. China has come long way, but great companies take years to build respect, trust and reputation on consumers eyes 👍🏼

Copy a product enter the market sale it side by side against the other company and sale yours for 30% less! It works! Just ask Costco! They will over the years improve the quality! All of the buses in South America are from China! All the heavy trucks are from China! All of the rode paving heavy equipment from China! Terrible video. First, it looks more like the Yamaha Eluder than a goldwing. Second, a V8 2000cc engine is not better...just bigger. Fuel economy matters on a long haul touring machine. Weight is not a plus. In fact, good motorcycle companies are constantly trying to trim weight rather than make it weigh more. And last, Honda reliability is a huge part of owning a goldwing. I know because I bought one instead of a harley mostly for that reason. There's no way you can copy that no matter how BIG a company is. Classic out of touch advertising here, but hey, suckers are born every day so im sure ill see some on the road. I considered getting the real cheap chinese dual sport like the Bross 250, or Hawk 250. When it breaks, and it will, it's not a big deal. A goldwing wannabe, will leave your stranded far from home with little support for this beast. They'd be smarter to compete with harley. But that'll never work either.

Chinese companies always copying other brand products, making knock-off imitation versions of well known products.
From Chinese scooters, motorcycles, electronics and clothes, they always copying another Company's products
Only reason a Chinese company/product sell more is because China has about 2 Billion people, not because the product is actually good.
Honda is in the business of making Motors/Engines. That is their specialty. I highly doubt the Chinese imitation Goldwing has the top quality Honda performance. A Honda motor runs forever. Same way their Chinese scooters break down well before Japan and Italian made scooters, Chinese quality isn't good

Give us a better stereo system that rocks and a more comfortable adjustable seat where the heat actually works and the heated grips don’t stop working in a couple of years.

Here in Australia GWM has firmly established itself as a serious vehicle maker. We own a top of the line Cannon twin cab 4x4 ute (one of the most popular style of vehicle here Down Under) and to spec up any similar style vehicle from competitors like Ford, Mazda, Nissan, etc, you’ll be looking at paying twice as much. They’re not “cheap Chinese crap” either. The electronics are Bosch, the gearboxes are German ZF 8 speed autos used worldwide in many vehicles, the diffs and transfer cases are Borg Warner, the standard 4x4 tyres it comes fitted with are Coopers, and the list of internationally derived parts goes on. This bike has Brembo brakes and no doubt many other “brand name” parts in it.

Disagree on your more cylinders is better viewpoint. Case in point is Kawasaki's history with the Luxo-tourer segment whereas brand-K started out with the 6-cylinder Voyager 13. Then downsize & lighten with the 4-cylinder Voyager 12 model. And finally settling into Kawasaki's longest iteration of the Voyager with a 1700cc V-twin.

Aimed right at the Goldwing at a time when it has lost its touring roots, with tiny luggage and fuel capacity compared to older Goldwings of the past.

Although I feel it's better said that in spite of Kawasaki's best efforts to compete with the Honda Gold Wing, they failed first with their fuel injected 6 cylinder and then with their simpler, lighter, and more affordable 4 cylinder Voyager 12. So Kawasaki switch targets focusing in on H-D by developing a V-Twin Voyager to compete against the the Steet Glide & Road Glide where they continue to languish.
