General George S. Greene has become my favorite Civil War General. Weirdly I first learned his named by looking through the list of Union Generals on Wikipedia looking for the photo that matched or was similar to the photo I used for my Gmail and RUclips profile picture.
Love Greene. Doubt he cared much for Sickles. Sickles shenanigans on July 2 is the reason so many troops were moved from Culps Hill to help save the left flank of the Army of Potomac line.
Greene and his brigade did perform very well, so did Baxters brigade along the Mummasburg rd...and Roy Stones Brgade. So did Carr and Brewster along Humphries line.... and De Trobriand's brigade. Sherrills brigade and let's list out Caldwells div. Cross, Kelly, Zook and Brooke as heroes. IF Greene and a couple other brigades do not get mentioned much it is because of that stupid movie. M Shaara may have introduced a generation of folks to Gettysburg and even the larger CW with his book....but he left them with a skewed view of what happened. The talking heads of the last 20yrs with the NPS and discussion groups perpetuated that skewed view to give us what we have today.... I wish that movie had never been made. There is more to the battle than Buford, attention whore Chamberlain, LRT, Longstreet and the angle. What you have today, in lack of substance in discussing the battle, is what the talking heads dished out for 20 years.
Outstanding presentation. It really filled in some gaps in my knowledge. Well done, Mr. Welch.

Any books about Greene's brigade at Gettysburg?, I mean, separate from what little you find in the books on the battle of Gettysburg?
We'll have an ECW Series book on Culp's Hill out in the spring, we hope, COVID has been hard on our publication schedule.
Gen. Greene also had years of experience supervising New York City engineering workers, good training for a Brigadier of volunteer infantry.
Love G S Greene and Dan’s rendition.
