    Thank you I used your wire lengths and built a dipole and it worked! 🎉 my UAV 5R now listens to the local repeater very clearly.

    Just wanted to add that 2 meter FM is usually vertically polarized and SSB is usually horizontally polarized. Great project! 👍

    Wrap your feedline about 4-5 turns just below the connector on the antenna end. Tie it off with a couple of plastic cable ties or twine. Rescan. Bet the sweep is better.

    • @shuumai
      @shuumai 4 года назад

      Is there a way to make the antenna without the need for the coil? Does that have something to do with the shielding in the feed line still acting as part of the antenna versus the core which is blocked?

    Starting out with nothing, I really appreciated this! My understanding is that, being a balanced antenna, it has an impedance of 75 ohms, which ideally uses a 75 to 50 balun or something, but it will work ok as it is? Thanks!!!

    May I ask something sir? I am a completely newbie beginner...
    Can we use tee BNC connector as center insulator?

      You can use any type coax connector that you see fit 🙂
      Welcome to the hobby!

      No, as that would make both legs of the dipole connected to the center conductor of your coax.

    Doesn't it should to 300 and you divide your frequency by 300?
    not 468? Or Its For Meters ?

    • @jfrphoto01
      @jfrphoto01 2 года назад

      300 is for meters not feet.

    I have a portable SW radio (Tecsun PL660) which came with a plug in type external dipole antenna. QUESTION: Was the external antenna that came packaged with this receiver designed to receive every band that this radio can receive OR does this radio require separate dipole antennas with varying length wires in order to make use of the various radio transmission frequencies available? (Sorry... That was a mouthful)

  • @thedroneradventures8374
    @thedroneradventures8374 3 года назад

    Ok please excuse my lack of knowledge. I'm literally days into getting interested in ham radio. So I see so many different style of antennas all seeming to bring in different wave lengths etc. So what does one do to bring in all these frequency on one line coming into your transceiver. Do you put up multiple antennas and then run them all into a splitter of some sort. ?, Do you just keep switching feed lines etc.. please point me in the right direction

  • @jkbish1

    I have made the 2 meter antenna with the so239 and 5 pieces of wire. I do like this style. I may just try it.
    So, in your opinion: which would be the superior antenna 1/4 wave 2 meter ground plane ... OR ... the 2 meter dipole described in the video?

    • @jfrphoto01
      @jfrphoto01 2 года назад

      Depends on if the dipole is vertically or horizontally polarized. Vertical polarization would be close to the GP in performance but the GP would still be the better antenna. With the dipole horizontal the GP will out perform the dipole.
