Do you know Pakistan was the ONLY test team that managed to draw a home and away series VS that great WI of "Fire in Babylon". It was all to do with Imran Khan's captaincy and the fight fire with fire attitude with fast bowling vs the WI. And don't worry, Sir Viv, Imran and Wasim are all good friends. And Sir Viv is a great friend of Pakistan cricket. He has been a mentor in the PSL and PJL since day one, he comes to Pakistan multiple times a year to work with young kids!!

Imran Khan was obviously gonna intervene if the situation was heated but he wanted Wasim to face his fears and become a tough man not only on the field but outside of it too

This is why Imran was a great mentor. He taught 21 year old how to be a man. It was Life lesson for Waseem in many ways. I am sure Vivian Richards was not going too hurt him. And Imran new that too.

The great Sir Viv Richards, the most destructive batsman I have seen in my time, truly a great. And a young Wasim Akram who became probably the most skilful fast swing bowler in history (Malcom Marshal just behind in ball skill). Akram conventional swing, late swing, inswingers, outswingers, crunching yorkers, deceptive slower ball, a master of every fast bowling skill.
Viv for me, remains the greatest batter I've seen.

Thanks for the shoutout Gabe! A great videos guys as always! Yeah I’ll be streaming at least one session on one particular day from the two test matches for Australia and the West Indies. But I’m just glad that test cricket is about to start in Australia! Best part of the Australian summer! I think the West Indies would like to have Sir Viv playing in this series. Maybe also have players like Sobers, Lara, Lloyd, Greendige, Haynes, Chanderpaul, Holding, Roberts, Garner, Croft, Marshall, Ambrose and Walsh they will be very handy and all of them very good players for the West Indies! But Australia should retain the Sir Frank Worrall Trophy for another series!

Just a couple of quick thoughts. First on why WI is playing in Australia. Once a team is elevated to elite status it is not taken away. At least I don't think that has ever happened. They have, ever been reduced from an automatic five test series to a three or two test series playing team - which is something of a demotion. There is a rotation of teams of the top tier nations playing each other. Their previous dominance, however, means that the tour of Australia always holds significance for both teams. Australians all want to see that happen again. Gabe you commented that you thought there would be an understanding that because Richards wore a cap it was not appropriate to bowl bouncers at him. But Akram did it anyway. Actually, the truth is Richards was so good he chose not to wear a helmet since he started playing at a time when no one wore them. Bowlers all bowled bouncers at him to try and change his mind. So that part was not even an issue. It was the sledging, the calling him an "old man," that was the issue. And on that your observation is completely correct. Richards had a massive ego so the truth was that this young pup sledging him did have the echoes of the end of his career in it and he was reacting to that - IMHO.

Of all the great sledges in cricket, the greatest of all was Viv in a county match in which was taunted by the bowler - Thomas by saying that the ball was "red, round, now effing hit it". His response was to hit the next ball out of the ground and tell Thomas "You know what it looks like, man now go find it".

Sounds like Richards was struggling with the realisation his career was coming to and end.He terrorised bowlers all his career and a young Wasim Akram was just starting to make a name for himself at 21 years of age,he had already got Richards out a few times in the series.A changing of the guard in a way,one of the greatest batsman is on the way out and one of the greatest bowlers is just arriving

I'd argue, that West Indian cricket side was probably one of the best sporting teams, of any sport, ever. 20yrs they dominated. 🥃🤙

I watch your videos and enjoy your enthusiasm. I've spent 20 yrs in the States and am from Pakistan so I know both cultures, this particular video is obviously narrated by an Indian with a flare for embellishment and Bollywood-style over-the-top dramatics. The incident did happen and Wasin, Imran, and maybe even Viv himself have talked about it numerous times, but this guy narrates it as if he was there with them, unsurprisingly making the Pakistanis appear to be spineless cowards. The fact is that Pakistan went to the Windies after the Aussies declined to go because they didn't want the humiliation. Pakistan won the 1st test and would've won the 2nd as well if it wasn't for some of the most blatantly bad umpiring in favor of the Windies, there are videos of that test on youtube you can see for yourselves. So anyway, the tone of this video is disrespectful and doesn't nearly give Pakistanis the credit they earned by beating this unbeatable team at their home grounds. There are plenty of Indian cricket lovers who are fair and respectful but this guy is not one of them. This needed to be said, with due respect to all fair-minded cricket lovers in India and everywhere else.

Personally I never liked sledging. When I play badminton, I help my opponents get better. Most find it offensive, some like it, most coaches loved me, made their job easier. If everyone elevates their skill as a group, the level of extraordinary rises significantly, and during non extraordinary players, competition is severe.
