Have a Factor, and love its outstanding blade profile. So...I ordered the lasered Orange Severn. With this kind of lead time, it will be a nice surprise when it arrives next year.
I had to order that mint/green titanium laser bacon version… loved the color and that “bacon blade” just looks unconventionally sexy. Spent way too much on knives today though also got a left hand insingo large inkosi. 😂 I need to relax for a bit. I had to offload a few things for the Severn.

All you Lefties gotta love when a knife is full ambi like this. He likely left out the magnetic detent so you can swing the blade open when activating the lock mechanism like other cross-bar lock knives instead of that not being possible like on the Factor.
Hopefully he figures out a way to convert the spring(s) in the lock mechanism to small opposing magnets in Version 2 so it can be a fully magnetic knife like his other offerings.
I gotta have detent !

So the pre-order vs the drop - I can go either way. The pre-order actually gives a lot more people a chance - the drops can be over in seconds with a hella lotta cart sniping, server freeze-ups and a sh!t load of frustrated potential customers. With a pre-order you usually have a longer window of availability. Just have to have the patience to wait it out during the production period after paying.
If it had the magnetic detent I would have ordered this one. I like the style. 👍
Man. I wish this was a drop. Preorders and waiting 8 months is challenging. It's almost like a kickstarter.
Really tempted to order the orange version, but I have a Factor B2 already. Kinda feel like they aren't different enough to warrant spending another 325$ especially after seeing the detent look pretty weak.

Just some info for public consumption!...
Looks wise the Severn and Factor have a similar look - the Severn is 3/4" longer - but internally they couldn't be more different... Totally different mechanisms - totally different "guts." The Factor is primarily magnetic, with the M-Lock, and the Severn is primarily non-magnetic, with the Stealth Lock (which uses a compression spring).
On the Severn detent - this lock mechanism actually works best with a detent on the lighter side for various reasons, so it just boils down to personal preference... Kev says it still feels satisfying to flick, and Kevin is a very wise man. Moral of the story, listen to Kev! Lol! It'd have been easy to add a magnetic detent similar to that on the Factor, but the drawback there is that you'd no longer be able to open and close the Severn using the new lock - so you'd lose a bunch of fidget factor. The magnetic detent is really well suited to the Factor because the Factor has an added deployment method with its flip lever.

I'd have popped for one if it was a drop, but not excited enough about it to lay out almost $400 and wait 6-7 months. Since it's an almost unlimited preorder, there should be plenty on the secondary market after it drops.
Disagree on the drops. I love the extended anticipation of waiting for he knife. It’s so fun when he knife finally arrives. Great review though! Very funny.

I like the blade size better then the Factor, but still on the fence? I was thinking about ordering the blue limited edition magnacut version, but I don't like the laser wave on the aluminum handles? I'll probably regret it but I've spend way too much on knives in 2023 😢
Working with metal all day and grinding and machining metals, magnets would'nt work well in my field. My speaker in my phone gets enough of that. That being said I ordered the orange one! cant wait!
