It is amazing to see such research driven content on nepali topics. It is very much required to understand the problems and solutions for current day scenarios of the country.
I was in grade 2;3 when i first tasted the mayos noodle... It was too good tasting ....🥰🥰🥰 Then still searched after couple of years but didn't get ...😥
Used to eat mayos during my childhood days. Mayos was conveniently available in Bhutan 🇧🇹 too but the wai wai brand is still very popular in Bhutan 🇧🇹 at present too.
The video is like going back in time! Part-history but mostly part-lesson for upcoming businesses in Nepal. I am pretty certain that workers, behind trade unions, who had a 'comfortable job' here are now cursing their ideology they once held.......in the sweltering heat of some foreign land. Sad !
Back in my schooldays like 10 years back,i remember Mayos was thing along with wai wai...it was our favourite..yes we all miss this product and its really sad to hear the fall of this company..i hope in future we get to taste this product again....🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Now this is what good content is. Finally seeing some people from my own country making some good content and I'm really proud to say that. You have my words, I'm subscribing yeah
To be honest I ate mayos around 20 yrs ago, but whenever I think of mayos I can still feel its taste, It was the most tastier instant noodle Nepal ever had , especially its masala was in different level 🔥🔥🔥,

Thanks brother... very informative.. I used to talk about the rise and fall of different noodle brands of Nepal with my friends. But you showed the reason... I'm sharing this video with my friends and family..
I had a very deep connection with the mayos chauchau, as my father used to work there in that banepa mayos production factory . Our family livelihood used to be dependent on that and still remember the day when the factory caught the fire. 😢
I don't know if it was Hurray or Fuchhay noodles, but it had a small orange candy inside it and the noodles was maybe 5 rupees i guess, I was in class 3, that small candy inside the noodles would drive me to buy that noodles again and again. Good old days!
To add on this u forgot the major campaign.. heera ko haar.. the diamond necklace.. My dad was an area manager then.. he was called western tiger who was posted in western and far western region for almost 5 yrs with highest sales competing ktm valley.. another major part is that thay had a superb marketing team .. But eventually the team was broken n many employees left khetan for shankar group, for the launch of Miho noodles.. however that didnt do well as well n the rest is history...
Good analysis about the old brand famous noodle. I thought you did a little less research on the part of fire on its Banepa plant and the compensation Mayos received just after 5 days of the incident even the surveyor reports had not been received from its own sister insurance company "Everest insurance"
Finally some quality Nepali Video channel! Thank you for doing this! And keep it up! Such a nice to see quality over quantity. And a small suggestion please work on your audio/mic/sound. Thank you
I remember back in 2001 I was at butwal and my cousin sister who came from KTM brought a packet of half eaten mayos with her on night bus. I as a kid felt it like a premium stuff as I saw the advertisement blasted all over the tv and news paper. As a kid I don't know how either mayos or wai wai tasted but I guess it got into my subconscious mind that mayos was better cause it looked and sounded premium cause waiwai was the common ones that you could get any where buy I had a chance to taste mayos cause it wasn't available at that time in butwal.
Good analysis 👍 Major reason for downfall of Mayos is Nepali politics. In fact all industries collapsed in Nepal just coz of dirty poltics.....need political reformation for the holistic development of the nation 🇳🇵
Thank you so much @gaurav. Actually, I am a single person behind all the things, that's why it takes me such a long time to come up with videos. Thank you again for trusting me and subscribing

Although I do not usually write any comments but since I know this Brand very well when I was in Advertising Avenues. Here are my two cents about this brand; I was an account executive for certain times for that brand since 2002 - 2004 in Advertising Avenues . Back then Mayos was aggressively penetrated and promoted by Ad avenues. Before Advertising Avenues, Business Advantages Agency used to handle that account. Mayos promo was superbly handled and directly threat to wai wai ( my perception) in the market through advertising( A great way to create brand recognization in the market). The TVC, Radio Ad, Sponsoring Event, Newspaper even small newspaper they didn't left behind, just do Advertising, Advertise, Advertising.!!!!!! I remember, Mr Sujan Raja Shakya was brand manager( Well deserved Brand Manager for Mayos). He and Ad Avenues were great team player for Mayos Brand. After fews Years,I left Avenues and Joined Max Pro another creative agency who handles 2pm. After reviewing this video , here is what I have found > *Do not messed up with your product. either you positioned as a second waii wai or market leader brand whatever. Over the years Mayos brand , products was well positioned in Nepali consumer market . The taste, the quality of that product still in consumer mind and tongue . you changed the taste, you are gone. Mayos went to healthy khaja instead of khaja. Obviously, Government, Politics were major keys also. but my question is why the other political affiliated party not doing or strike anything to wai wai factory.?? ( or they might have been ) my two cents end....... wonderful mayos noodles !!!!
Thank you so much. I searched for so long to find people who worked for Mayos to get even better knowledge of what happened. I found very few. I wished I could have talked with you before making the video. 🙏
Yeah , there are still ex - avenues employee lives in Nepal . Mr Mahendra Shrestha ( my guru of advertising , now in Sujal food ( chocofun) .Mr Abhaya Pandey still in Avenues to name few . I didn’t know mayos were really downfall at time . But thanks for posting this video. Keep going on !!
Prior to Mayos,YumYum and Aaha were competing with WaiWai while Ramba and Rara were popular in the mountain region and later came Rumpum,2pm,etc only to fail despite their massive advertisement push.So it just proves it is taste that ultimately determines the destiny of noodles market.Among local noodles brands,I have never seen a noodle that can rival the taste of legendary WaiWai.
Waiwai tastes good? ghanta - it's very average noodle & it's soup (masala) literally smells like guuu.. Quick masala is better. I usually prefer white noodle like rara, and recent one current with chinese oil flavour.
@@china5648 As you just mentioned its just your preference, the majority still enjoy the classic Wai Wai. This goes on to show the world does not revolve around your liking or ideologies dear!! So stop bashing it by saying guu or ghanta.
@@susan5244 same goes for you too, it's not wai-wai's 'legendary' taste that made it stay in market, it's bcz it was binod chaudhary's product. It's masala does literally smell like guu, once again.

The big difference was Wai Wai was not home grown noodles by CG of industries, it was made by Thai food (established in 1972) and preservatives and in 1984, in collab with thai CG introduced wai wai in Nepal so there was financial backup and sure mayos also had back up of Khetan Group of industries but it was home grown so couldn't compete with wai wai, just as Ncell; started as 'mero mobile' in 2004, in 2008 Telia company of sweden acquired and rebrand as Ncell and in 2012 it became part of Axiata Group so it has more financial backing as opposed to home grown NTC(Nepal Telecommunication)
