Give yourself & Lily time to recover. Travelling takes so much effort & she is happiest with you no matter what. Your mum certainly looks glad to have you home! and don't worry about not having firm plans - it's much worse to just settle for 2nd best because it's easier.
My husband and I moved from southeast Georgia to Indiana for his job. I was super excited about the move (and excited, too, to not have to work for a little while, so that I could focus on creative things, like writing a book and starting RUclips)... but when we got to Indiana, everything hit me. We had a ton of crazy things happen before we left Georgia (like a hurricane that knocked out the whole city's power for over a week) and after that, packing, unpacking, driving (with our cats who HATE the car -- and almost losing one of them), I found myself totally unmotivated to do much of anything. I caught myself in a negative spiral -- I *should* be setting up the house, I *should* be filming, writing, editing, exploring the neighborhood! -- I had that moment where I realized how mean I was being to myself. "Give yourself grace." It's so easy to say, but so often, we forget that it's what we need. And if we can't extend grace to ourselves, that ultimately affects how/if we can extend grace to others. I needed to hear you say that, but I know you need to believe it, too. 🧡 Keep up the videos (when you can!) I love that you're leaning into your creativity and vlogging. You have a message, even if it isn't clear to you yet. Funny enough, I'm leaving for Italy soon to visit my cousin. Taking some of your recommendations for when we visit Bologna. 🍕🍝🍷
Thank you so much for sharing this 💛 I struggle with the "I should.." as well. I really appreciated this comment and it's so nice to hear stories like this. It's easy to feel alone out here on the internet, so thank you. I hope you have so much fun in Bologna! Eat lasagna at Sfoglia Rina for me 🤗💛
The "give yourself grace" comment is something I often say to others but forget to apply it to myself. Thanks for the reminder. I'm 55, still in the process of obtaining my Italian citizenship, kind of in limbo and feeling very unsettled. You seem to be in a comfortable place with your mom and Lily, a good place to think and be and live and be kind to yourself. ❤
So true!! In fact, I felt a lot of pressure to make myself stay in Rome because that was something I had always wanted. It's okay if you change or if you no longer want what you used to want... I felt like I owed everyone this big explanation, but I think it's much more simple than that lol 💛
👋 Alyssa, How are you? How is your day and weekend going so far? How are you feeling mentally and physically? What’s on your agenda for this coming new weeks? How long are you back in the states for?

We go through various stages in life. We change as time goes by. It's a bit unsettling, but things fall in place when they are meant to be.😊
I love that Italy is a part of you now, seeing you use the Moka for coffee, seeing the san marzano tomatoes, etc. 😊♥
hahaha I don't even think about these things- it all just happens naturally now lol

Lily knows how much she is loved 🙂
She's doing better!!

I think it's all an illusion when people seem to "have it all figured out" and it's good to hear that I'm not alone 🤗💛 You've got this Jen
You are brave to be so honest about your life decisions. Many travel vloggers insist that “going home” is not an option. Life is all about options! 😊

I love You and Our Beautiful USA so much and more than myself Dear Alyssa.🤗😍🥰🇺🇲🙏🔥
What city or state are you originally from Alyssa?
Are you from a big city or a small town or from the countryside?
I was born in Seattle and moved around a bit as a kid, but grew up in Northern Nevada (near Lake Tahoe)!
👋 Alyssa,
