They're social creatures and will visit the nesting territory of their parents throughout their lives. And if they find unattended young they'll move into the nest and raise them. I just thought that was neat
I had to save a magpie from a Trashcan last summer, and while it was very unhappy about being saved at the time I saw the magpies again a couple of months ago and I really hope that magpie is still out there.
Cool, fun fact: that is because thier siblings share 50% of thier DNA with them, and evolution is about the survival and mulitiplication of the genetic material, by helping thier siblings they help thier own genetic information spread. I think this is pretty neat too
