Yes I already know, this is the reason I paid the extra. But when making the videos some people don’t know or misunderstand between PVD and DLC and so I try to explain and show the difference in quality. But thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
Paul lebbon Great, I'm looking forward to that Paul. I have a question if you don't mind? I was wondering as the ti strap was originally developed for the Fenix 5 I believe, is a good fit for the 6? It's only as the 5 had a fixed bar, and they appear to have gone to a normal spring bar type on the 6. It occurred to me the new spring bar pin on the 6 may be marginally smaller in diameter than the old fixed bar on the Fenix 5, hence leaving more of a gap when the strap is clipped to the six? I hope this makes sense? Can you feel any free play or slop on the end of the strap clipped to the watch?
Hi Paul, great review. I just bought the Fenix 6x Pro Solar but I can’t find the 26mm titanium carbon grey DLC strap same as yours original from Garmin. Any idea where I can find it? Thanks in advance.
Hi, this is the only solid one they sell now. buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/574346/pn/010-12580-00 it looks like my one but I couldn't see the Garmin name on the clasp. Thanks for watching and I hope you find the band for you.
Yes, mine is the 26mm quick release. I bought mine from a shop in Hanoi. It cost about £20 more than online and at the time was on the Garmin official site. If you read through the comments on my Garmin videos I did link the strap there. I hope this helps.
It started to show some signs of wear after the first year and silver is showing through on the clasp and pushers. Overall it still looks reasonable and I still use it at times. Thanks for watching.
Mine is the Carbon Grey DLC but it is pretty much black. If you watch the video where I buy an aftermarket black metal watch band it is hardly noticeable. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for this review Paul, it help me a lot. I have one question, how many links can be removed from de Titanium Bracelet, because i have a small wrist from about 15 mm ?
Hi Jeroen. 15” wrist size may be ok, but it is a 26mm band size and could be uncomfortable for you. If you don’t have any problems with regular watch bands then you will be fine, but I now have a Garmin MarQ with a 22mm band and it is so much more comfortable. Anyway, I hope this helps a little.
Well, it was a while ago I made that video but the 22mm I have now you can remove every link of the strap. Oh, that strap has knock out pins I think, so maybe it will not go down small enough.
I just watched again, looks like you can take out 5 links each side. It may fit but with that deployment clasp you should take out one extra link from the left side when seeing the word Garmin. Eg: take out 4 links from the right and 5 from the left. Have the word Garmin readable when holding you hand up for the most comfortable fit.
This is kind of off topic but I cant find any info anywhere else. The mk1 descent has a 26 titanium band as well but ive heard that it's really hard to adjust for size and not worth the money. I was wondering if you've heard or used it before and if you could provide any insights or maybe cheaper suggestions?
The old titanium band does fit the newer Garmin Fenix 6X, BUT once fitted it is a total pain to get off again. You have to remember that the older watches used star torx screws that fit the strap to the main body of the watch and the later watches now have quick release straps that you can change easy. So if you take the old strap off and then put the screws back in an old watch you can start using the quick release straps. BUT, if you then put that strap on a fenix 6x there is no way of getting it off again as it fits very tightly. (So Beware) Anyway, I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Adjusting the size of the band is also a pain, but it can be done with an Apple Sim ejection tool if it is a brand new band. A used band you will need a watch strap pin tool and a small hammer. Look at the back of the strap and see which way the arrows go, push hard or using a pin tool tap, (very gently) one or two times until it pops out. You will need to raise the pin side slightly by using a 3mm drinks coaster works best. I hope this answers your question fully, sorry for misunderstanding before. Thanks again for watching.
Worth the money? The strap is comfortable but, if you want for running or working out, it is still heavy. (it is 1/3rd less weight and can be scratched) I would not buy another one, but I will keep this one to use again probably.
There's one more titanium band, more expensive than the one you are showing. It's called vented one. I wonder, how big is the difference between those two.
Yes there is. It is the band that they include with the new Fenix 6X Solar. I looked at it, but I just didn't like the style. I don't like watch bands that pull out my arm hairs and so I went for the other one.
I made another video comparing the Titanium band against a 3rd party clone of the same band but in stainless steel. The Titanium weighed 78g and the stainless 114g. Thanks for watching.
on the garmin website you can find 2 different titan dlc bands. But one is way more expensive than the other. Is there anybody who can explain me the difference between these two?
Yes the $229 the same as mine is the older version from 2017-18 and the $299 band is new for late 2019. The $299 band is supposed to be more comfortable in hot weather, but I live in Hanoi and it is usually over 30c and it feels comfortable to me. Beware though, both my Titanium Garmin clasp and the sides of my Titanium Apple Watch have scratches. Thanks for watching.
The DLC coating protects it very well. I have recently bought the titanium vented and marq aviator bands and the vented is grade 2 natural titanium and has many scratches after 2 weeks, the aviator band is polished grade 5 titanium and is still like new. I hope this helps.
@@Paullebbon my titanium dlc bracelet, which is bundled with fenix 6 pro solar carbon gray dlc for several days of use, has already been scratched at the ends almost from the air (because I wear it carefully) this is very upsetting
I hope you don't take offence but was it bought new or used? If it was used then it maybe a 3rd party bracelet. I did a video on those as they were very poor quality and seemed to wear very quickly. The original garmin band I used for over a year and it had just one scratch from a pool side.
Then whatever is causing the scratches should be found. Diamonds? Maybe diamond ring, earrings on yourself or partner? It takes something very hard to damage the DLC coating. As I said mine was scratched by a poolside anti slip coating on the pool edge. Anyway, I am sorry you're having a bad experience. I wish you well.
I would suggest taking it to a watch shop and pay a small fee to have the staff shorten it for you. It is not an easy watch to do and requires a pin remover. The shops usually do it for free but some charge between 2-5$. Thanks for watching.
Graham Stenson Yes perfectly. Don’t worry if it looks different at first, it depends how long you have had the watch. The oils from your skin make the bezel look darker, but they are exactly the same. Just give it a day or two and you will see better.
@@grahamstenson8571 But the only thing different between the Pro and X are the watch glass. The Pro has Gorilla glass 3 and the X has Sapphire, the DLC colour is the same I believe.
Yes, stainless steel, titanium or the polymer bands all work. I now have the Garmin MarQ with a titanium band. The MarQ has an all titanium body and so it does make more sense to have the titanium band.
No need to worry about scratching it. DLC isn't just the color. It's coated with diamond like carbon, which is stronger than diamond.

Great review, thanks Paul. Look for to seeing the next one when we see how the strap's holding up after a month of use. Loved the ASMR time!
Thanks, I will be posting some new strap videos soon. Rubber, stainless and replacement (fake) straps.
