Great job! 👏🏻 we recently purchased a new travel trailer but seeing this modification to the bathroom and kitchen window makes me sad that we sold our camper I really loved it except for those two things. 😢 Thank you
I have the same issue with hanging out in the skylight! I'm going to check out the plumbing issue under mine and see if lowering it is an option. I originally was looking for tips to paint the yellowed walls but now thanks to this video, looks like were going in deeper with new plumbing and walls! Thanks.... I think :)
I thought about lowering my shower later but first I had to seal the floor because mice were entering through the large hole under my shower. It is ridiculous how big of a hole that was drilled under the shower pan to allow access for varmits. I sealed it with steel wool and expanding foam.
I'm doing the same thing in my rv I guess lucky for me I'm a hair shorter I'm glad I found this vid I'm not plumbing back in a p trap like the rest of them il do like u did
Great job! I'm considering doing something similar to my 17B. One question I have. Looking at the before and after plumbing setup, it appears from the video that the actual height where the trap heads up to the basin is almost at the same height as the final elbow you used in your configuration. Now having gone through this install. Do you feel you could have kept the original plumbing setup, maybe just cut down the drain pipe, and still be able to lower the shower by a couple inches without changing all the plumbing?
I plan on purchasing the same Coleman Lantern 17b very soon and want to thank you for all of your very helpful ideas and videos. Do you think while I have the shower tub out I could do all the walls with the FRP before reinstalling the tub or does the installation of the corner bead make that difficult?
Our 18RB has the exact same shower setup. I’m glad we are short....lol. Did y’all put in that movable curtain rod. Camco has a similar one but are out of stock. Any idea what model it is? Good idea on resealing the shower.
Great job and I love your cap. I didn’t see where you modified the height of the supports below the tub. Did you just shorten the upright blocks? If so, what was the modified height of the blocks? Thanks
I just shortened the support platform that was under the shower base. I did talk to a gentleman who put it all the way to the ground but he had to cut a new hope in his gray water tank and relocate the inlet from the shower.
We never noticed anything and the new owners haven't mentioned anything to us (they are family members). It's only the gray tank so even if it does it's not as bad as the black tank for sure.
I looked at the lantern camper yesterday. The shower was a turn off bc it was so tall. Glad I came across this video.

Thanks and congrats on the new camper

Looking forward to the FRP Panel install video. That’s my next project on the 17b.
+Bradley Horn I'm hoping to have it done this week and it should be out next Sunday morning

@Kr yes I probably could have done that. It could have been a much simpler project that is fore sure.
Did you get shower base from Menards? Going to remodel our 1994 tub shower In are class A Coronado. Great video.
No this is the stock one out of the camper

Thank you. Yes I would recommend doing the wall at the same time.

+S Williams yes we installed it in an earlier mod video. We picked it up at camping world, I think it was in their clearance section even.
Where did you get the shower base

Yes I just cut down the blocks. I'm not sure what they ended up being, it's been awhile since I worked on this.
Whats holding the tub up? Also would it be possible to get it even lower? I wish they were just flush with the floor.

I’m not sure why they don’t do that at the factory. They know most people need more headroom.
Dude you are just handy dandy gesh i need those skills i want to fix my camper soooooo bad.....
It's pretty easy to work on. Just pick a small project and take your time
What's holding the shower pan up?
It's a piece of plywood that is sitting on some block
Why don't they put the shower lower in the first place? It surly can't cost that much more can it?
Where did you buy you shower pan from?
It is actually the factory pan. We didn't buy a new one.
I was thinking of doing the same but I was going in the direction of of lowering the gray water tank a little bit also has anyone tried that?
I'm not really sure if anyone has done that seems like it may end up too low under the camper
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 w
Does it smell while using shower and stopper is open?
We never noticed anything and the new owners haven't mentioned anything to us (they are family members). It's only the gray tank so even if it does it's not as bad as the black tank for sure.
Why didn’t they just made it lower such dummies
Im sure that it's just easier to manufacture it the way it is. Not much thinking involved the original way.
