The Dutch wealth already existed before the slave trade. It was mostly established from the grain trade with Scandinavia. It came from shipping goods, all over the world, and slave trade was one of it and was made possible from the great wealth made in previous periods.

Capitalism, imperialism, colonialism, slavery, and genocide. Those were the things that made the world we have, here, today. Those are the terrible things we must undo. Not to mention the marginalisation and oppression of LGBTQ+ people around the world and throughout history (a major theme of this particular story - and extremely hard to watch for those of us who are sensitive). 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Duh. The twelve year old expert has me spellbound. Then, it gets worse and we realise that this is a metaphor for today's love affair with printed money. Cheap shot.
