Video Description:
Hidden in the Somali desert, beneath stunning, ancient rock cave paintings, the thin trail of a snake traces a winding line across the dust.
This morning I rented a guide and a guard and we ventured 55km outside of the capital Hargeisa to witness one-of-a-kind cave paintings from 8,000+ years ago. The Laas Geel (Somali: Laas Geel) paintings are recognized as one of the best examples of ancient cave paintings in all of Africa.
Come with me on a drive and hike to see this ancient African art.
Follow me on my journey around the globe, as I attempt to visit every single country in the world!

Somaliland Ancient "las geel" caves which has nice beautiful drawings from over 8000 years ago.at the clif of the cave there is big stone design for the king of that time to sit and give his speech so the cave would echo his voice like microphone and his people on the ground would hear his voice easily.

You emanate good vibes.
The history in Africa is something that can't be forgotten easily.
First to comment and Welcome to Somaliland! Thanks for sharing your travels in our country.
I wonder how many people have been to that cave in the past 8000 years. Not just local people but also explorers and travelers from different parts of the world and different centuries of history.
Also I live in western Colorado and we have lots of sites with ancient paintings like these. I’ve noticed with the ancient American cave paintings that some people have those small heads too, and the weird shaped body.
Thanks chris👍👍
I realized that you are a good person and you help the poor people in the countries you visit
Take care of yourself, I wish all of us humans would try to be good and help our kind
This one is the best Somali upload you made. Well done. 👍
Yeah! Chris you went to the cave!😃 Hope it was good.
Enjoy Somaliland.
Very interesting cave art dating back approximately 5K years ago to 3000 BCE around the time that King Narmer Unified ancient Egypt (Kemet)..
Good video and you make all of us Somalis both happy and homesick. My brothers in the North take good care of you and you also do the same back (as we can see in your videos). Take good care of yourself and your charities are extraordinary! This place 8k years ago was not dry like it is now. Some estimate it to be 10k but there are hundreds of caves like that in Somaliland
You sir are a very good man we need more people like you in this world take care much love from the UK 🇬🇧
Welcome to Somaliland Chris hope you enjoyed the adventure
Chris I’m from somalia 🇸🇴 and i like the positive way you showing other countries how Somali people is so humble and so welcome
Cause nowadays social media make every muslim countries so dangerous and so unstable, but let them see we are all same and human beings, no matter the different skin and the different religions we have…
At last i wanna tell the world - everyone seen how Qatar 🇶🇦 welcome everyone and show them how muslim people are so welcome and so respectful to the others when it became a guest side
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover go see your own eyes before you believe what propaganda media tells you
And we accept your apology about throwing the somali shillings to the people, we know that you didn’t mean it the negative side and we all make a mistake, making mistakes proofs that we are human and sometimes we do mistakes
Take care buddy and enjoy your vacation 👍🏽
As a Dominican, I admit Somalia has some really good music I would love to visit!
That’s Somaliland not Somalia get it right
Its somaliland 💚🤍❤
Welcome if you come

In 2023 people are still struggling ... I pray for the Somali people to overcome the clan-based politics and realize the truth.
I'm happy for you Chris that you are visiting my home country Somaliland
Would be great if you visited the island of Socotra. It's not far from Somaliland.
Im sorry that your "Tourguide" was a Khat addict. And you saw how much he rushed through his Tour. He had no intress to the client but for his khat.

Nice music 🎶 enjoy Chris. You're an amazing explorer.
5:20 the visit of local makeshift tent and young family is far more interesting than ancient cave paintings. pls do more family and house tours of locals.
As usually am here on time nice video I like the energy here...
I love your videos man, your a super bad ass. 🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴❤️❤️❤️
These caves must be protected, thanks for sharing Chris 🫶🏾
I realy love your work Chris
One other thing I like about you is you spend money and give. Unlike other youtubers like black man da traveler and a few other who don't spend a penny and just want free stuff. Your a BOSS keep going ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let be honest..when in some lands or countries pretend we are together. Not like in Kenya where you can do anything. In some places you have to shut up no matter how many good people you meet. You can even pretend to dance but i love your courage.
its not making sense to be arab , Russia, Bangladesh or black, red , blue , yellow , tall short with red eyes. what making sense is you are human and they are humans simply together we are all humans so jjust life this world by positive minded, kindness , help old peoples , make happy for children's. and dont cheat your wife , jop or someone trusted you.
you are also human mr reader for my comment
The feeling in your videos is really fascinating and informative.
Chris keep doing what you are. It's great to see those places not many people dear to go. North Korea next? 🤣
Great site seeing out about the off the towns and cities.
You must respect the solidarity and unity of somali republic🇸🇴. Somalia is one not two

Another great video keep up 👍
Hey Chris, you still got the guide’s info? I’ll be going in 1 month.
I only pass along the guides info when I’m happy with their service. This company wasn’t great, I’d recommend you google and find another
I am very sorry that you forget to be with someone who explain you all about this place because of this place is the one of the important place in Africa
I can’t believe ministry for tourism couldn’t get someone who can speak English better than this Qaat eating guy. The driver was speaking good English. And thick stick he is using when pointing to the paintings is wrong. Such historic place is not managed so poorly. But Mr. Chris thanks for visiting our country.
back then, during the African monsoon, that place was a lush jungle
14:58 I think there was river there
I enjoyed looking at the cave drawing.
Laasti Geel is amazing place what a document
It is true that the lineage of most Somali tribes belongs to an Arab origin, but according to genetic analyzes in recent decades on Somalis The Somalis are entrusted with preserving their lineage, so you find that the youngster is entrusted with his lineage to his great-grandfather, and most of the Somalis are of Arab origin, especially these three tribes: the Darod, Al-Ishaq (who are from Bani Hashim), and the Judabursi. Also, the great-grandfather of the Al-Dur tribes believes that he has no Arab origins and belongs to a Somali Err who is African.Al-Samrun Saeed and Ishaq are not descendants of Durr, but from the immigrant Arabs, and they were threatening the Falasha who converted to Islam and settled in Somalia. The identity of Muhammad and Mahmoud Errar is Somali and is attributed to him as Abu Somalia or the indigenous people There are also other groups classified as minorities These tribes are classified in Somalia as groups that have no tribes The tribe of [Arab Mahmoud Saleh] descended from the Bin Nimer tribe, one of the tribes of Bilad al-Mahra, affiliated to the Republic of Yemen. Galcayo Tumal from the Kingdom of Sheba after the flood migrated to Somalia Liber, who are ancient Arab tribes and ruled Somalia for a long time, and the name of the king was Baa camel

Why' U Remove all Vlogs That U Make Somalia already?
They are back up! the last video will be up in a few hours.
Chris berbera is nice and ceerigabo
Hargaysa see Somalia 🇸🇴 is a great country ❤
Dream on xarood Somaliland left the union in 1991 you might as well accept that reality because the union is dead dead dead in the water 😅😅😅😅
Somalia is the TRUE ancient Egypt or NUBIA, the Pictographs in the caves are Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbols
hieroglyph, a character used in a system of pictorial writing, particularly that form used on ancient Egyptian monuments. Hieroglyphic symbols may represent the objects that they depict but usually stand for particular sounds or groups of sounds.
This is Somaliland, not Somalia
@@DibigaIskaEeg you are still ALL ancient Nubians/Khemet before the Neo-colonization Borders.
Waaw this one totally different, somehow scary
Nice video clip history value place 8000 years ago valuable painting place

LOL The so called "key" is most likely a Rungu a blunt force weapon that is still used in some Bantu and Nilotic cultures today however its mostly symbolic these days.
Nice Again Chris You are Very Nice Guy Great Content!!
Hi Chris, thank you for the great videos. We really appreciate you coming to Somaliland. Why didn’t you took a tour guide who could speak English, it would have been easier!
I don't get to chose a tour Guide, the government hires them. When you show up at the gate you are given someone.
Love from Toronto
Please visit HADZABE tribe in Tanzania and hunt with them for day and night its gonna be incredible!😊
The last elephant in Somaliland was hunted down 1951 by British trophy hunters
Very sad.

Chris you should print your name and date on the gallery
Absolutely amazing ancient cave art. How come we don't see this more of this? There's a lot of hidden history right there including early cattle domestication.
