    I tried looking for as job working as an illustrator and graphic designer. Even though I applied to multiple places, some of which were from America, nobody hired me. I decided to immerse myself as much as possible into my art. I did present a portfolio that I made, but my portfolio was kind of like a visual representation of a "jack of all trades, master of none". I put as much in it as possible, in the hopes that someone might be interested in my services. My portfolio included illustrations, paintings, concept art and designs for logos, products, characters, and creatures, 3D sculptures, and even animatics and storyboards. I realized that something like that isn't going to work, so I plan on doing a more polished portfolio, maybe even multiple portfolios, each of which showcases my skills in different fields. Maybe this way I can be hired by a studio where I can put my abilities to good use, while also working with a team and form connections. If not, then maybe I'll go independent.

    I am an introvert and had social anxiety so getting connections is a no for me. I'm not really good at making connections. From my previous work, I don't have any that really connected with me after I left. Just like work, they're poof! Gone as well. My portfolio is only stick with what I have done as a designer. I didn't include my drawings because they're not connected with what they're looking for. I'll just say that it's a habit of mine.

    I just brought an IPad air 5 and got procreate to create art. I haven't decided what job I want specifically but hope one day I'll make a good portfolio and get hired at a unionized Industry one day. Love your videos as they are full of helpful information and can't wait for your next one!

      Do you have a computer and access to photoshop? Because if I were you I’d return it and get a Wacom cintic one, which is only about 300 dollars. Learning Procreate is kind of useless for what you want.

    • @Ouchthathurt843
      @Ouchthathurt843 Год назад

      @@markgonzalez3454 I see, I just started out with procreate since it was cheap but I still had to spend a thousand dollars on an iPad… so I didn’t see the point. I’d recommend looking into to pirating photoshop/after effects and getting a laptop with at least 16 gigabytes of RAM and a adequate CPU as your next step. You can also buy a second hand Mac laptop for about the same price of an iPad on back market. I did all of those things and after I purchased procreate, so if you enjoy that experience I hope this helps you. Also, I hope that original comment didn’t come off as rude.

    Your videos are so good! I took a 2 year break after school! Still am on a break and now am really scared that I might never find work. I also am shuffling between going for masters or not but don't really know it's worth it or not! Do you have any tips or guidance of how to start in the industry with zero exposure and a break year?

    • @mewTripled
      @mewTripled  Год назад +5

      I'm glad it helps. I wouldn't really recommend a masters degree for art - it usually doesn't really increase your chances of landing a job or not. I think sharing / publicizing your work and art process is way more effective, and taking those classes like I mentioned in the end of the video, even if your goal isn't really "to go to school again." But if you were planning to take a masters anyway, I think taking a class from CDA / brainstorm / schoolism is more worth it because you will immediately be connected to industry professionals who would get to know you and consider you for future projects. Best of luck!

    • @mewTripled
      @mewTripled  Год назад +1

      Hey, I totally understand the anxiety of entering a class -- I've been there too with CalArts. I think even if it's something you find intimidating to do, you should still just give it a try because showing up even if you don't talk or participate a lot from the get go is still better than not doing it at all. I think it's valid to do youtube simultaneously while you work / take classes. Maybe even have your youtube document your journey / art improvement while doing the class? Wishing you the best of luck!

    • @gingerkingfisher

      @@mewTripled Ah, I guess in part I don't really know what classes I would go to, like I already went to SCAD but I do think my anim can improve for sure, there just aren't really any good anim programs in my area.
