    Orrrrrr thanks sir I’m so so chuffed that you did a video about my little adhaptor, i welled up a wee bit and feel very honoured!!, iv always said one of the main reasons I’m on youtube is it’s a community of sharing,unbiased opinions (ie not the opinion of the company making the tool!) and a melting pot of ideas!, plus I get to be creative which is my favourite thing in my life, just working out how to make this adhaptor and going through the process of making it gave me immense pleasure, things of note!, the Oslo adhaptor is very good buuut the bit that sits into the star lock cup is not star lock shape it’s a hexagon shape and depending on the hardness of the metal used will only touch parts of the star lock cup and could be a wear point!, also the machined end of the pin has to be very very precise im talking micro millimetre precise!! The pins which you sit the blades on are so so crucial as well! With mine it’s an original makita mounting head ( yes the pins on makita multitools do snap off iv seen loads of them with snapped of pins but I’d say they snap of because of the Allen key nut coming slightly loose and it rattles a bit and snaps of the pins) although yes iv had the locking pin welded it’s a original makita part so the end bit which engages with the 2 ball bearings which pull the locking pin down holding the blade is 100% makita as well, if anyone wants one I might be persuaded to make a few but as mr tools and stuff said it won’t be cheap, thanks so so much 🤟🤟

      I love the design of your adaptor. I have an idea for another adapter that might be interesting:
      For other StarLock tools without the center pin. Basically, the same adapter you made but the center hole is threaded. If you had 3 to 5 of those adapters, then you could quickly swap between non-StarLock blades on your pinless StarLock tool.
      (I have a collection of like 10 different scraping tools I use on my non-StarLock tool. I can’t imagine “upgrading” to StarLock and having to buy new blades for more money and having fewer options! That’s not really an upgrade:)

      Well done sir 👍 I wonder if Makita would be interested in purchasing your design. I'm sure they could manufacture them much cheaper and also provide you with a nice payday. Would think they would be interested since I believe it would help them sell more multi tools since the starlock only model is a deal breaker for a lot of ppl.

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK 10 месяцев назад +2

      Cheers mark I appreciate it!,I definitely think that when makita brought out this multitool with star lock only they should have brought out an adapter like mine either in the box with the multitool or to be able to buy separately, im sure if they did make one it would be more affordable than my contraption, a third party company will make a version of my adapter im sure at some point, there’s no point me contacting makita!, I have tryd to contact them to see about a possible collab in general but all I got back was a AI written response saying no!, I love makita tools but if one of there tools fails to perform or is badly designed I call them out on it and I suppose they don’t like it, thanks for your support 🤟🤟

      I have old Fein and it has pin system, no tools needed to change blade, i do not see any benefit with starlock, it does not remove people misusing the tool.

      @@pete_lindMost of the other StarLock tools don’t use a pin. The blade just snaps into place. Only this Makita and the cheapest Bosch use pins.

    I just checked and Oslo tools has available for preorder a new and improved adapter out, it looks to be a nurled grip nut that you tighten onto a screw post on the end of the adapter so you can change the blade by finger tightening it. I'd be curious to see how it compares.

    I have found it useful to put the blade in upside down from time to time. I think I'll be sticking with the 51, strangely I've just recently bought and love my X-lock angle grinder. These two systems are analogous to each other as are sds drills with older style chucks. The thing to take away from this is who uses the older style chucks with a key these days? Tooless blade/bit changing is the way forward especially if you need to change the angle of the blade to complete a cut at an awkward angle. Besides I bough 100 very cheap blades from aliexpress which i need to get through.

    While Jons system is good I have no doubt the engineers at Oslo also looked at that option, then the lawyers said that it would infringe on Bosch's Starlock patent so they had to come up with something else. With Hilti now using Starlock and Milwaukee making Starlock blades it looks like it will be the standard going forward.

    • @DL-fg7tk
      @DL-fg7tk 10 месяцев назад +2

      Supposedly, It allows for longer blades and bigger cutting angles. With the ois pins, the longer blades would end up shearing the pins off. With the starlock, there is more contact area and less slop; which means you can apply more power to the blade and make blades longer and increase the cutting angle and nothing wears/breaks prematurely. Which is ,my guess anyway, why the xgt will only ever be starlock. Sure you can buy longer aftermarket blades than oem blades, but they dont really care about your tool.
