- Case Study: Porcelanosa brings the largest ceramics logistics centre worldwide into service. www.mecalux.com/case-studies/...
After years of close collaboration, Mecalux finishes construction of a new automated warehouse, thereby completing one of the leading logistics centres in the national and international ceramics sector. Five, fully automated warehouses make up this massive logistics complex.
Venís, the last of these facilities, 7,000 m2 in size, 31 m high and capable of housing 65,000 pallets in its racks, was designed with next-generation technology elements. The production centre, connected by an approximately 1 km long tunnel and equipped with pallet conveyors, transfers the goods up to the front of the warehouse, where 10 double-mast stacker cranes await to distribute and store them at a rate of 237 combined cycles.
The Easy WMS Warehouse Management Software designed by Mecalux manages the whole installation, from the inspection of production inputs to its expedition allowing control over each of the processes: order prep, storage and subsequent output.
Spain is the second largest exporter of ceramics throughout the world, already present in the five continents. It is estimated that the demand for logistics infrastructures will increase. At Mecalux, we are experts in global solutions of intralogistics and storage. We manufacture and design projects with our customers that directly increase the efficiency and profitability of facilities.

I really like this warehouse design. It's clean and bright, with defused overhead lighting. Other warehouses tend to look like dark caves in comparison.
Thank you for your comment! We are glad to hear that you appreciate the design of our warehouse. At Mecalux, we strive to create functional, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing storage solutions for our clients.
That's the cleanest warehouse I've ever seen
It certainly is! Thanks for your comment.
Bravo! Well done!!

machines always work nice when they are brand new
Booker T Good point. They didn’t mention any fail-safe backup to the machinery/software etc going down. Hard to see how you could have manual backup for such a storage system.
So do people
I have worked with old machinery that works better than a lot of the brand new machinery. It's only nice when it's well designed with ease of maintenance in mind. A machine is only as good as the people who take care of it. This is nothing compared to a typical Amazon fulfilment center.

How thick is the floor? or are the racks on piles?
Hi! Thanks for your question. The slab is one of the most important construction elements of an industrial installation. The slab must be calculated according to the forces transmitted. Based on this, other aspects are then defined, such as: concrete type, mesh or resistant fibre, thickness, levelling, surface finishes, drainage system, location of joints, the slab laying method, etc.
i think that for smaller boxes it wuld be accually better to store them lose and have the robot to grab stacks of them. For if robot can stack up in "grabber" 8 defined size boxes (or smaller) he culd look up for quqe of boxes to pick and then calculate most efficeint way to pick up boxes. In that way u wuldnt have to use this blue conteiners, and culd probably stack more items with for example help of lidar by stacking same boxes on top of each other when u get same part for example or u have comonly requested pairs.
Thanks for your answer. All feedback is well received.

What happens when the pallet breaks and it can no longer roll on this conveyor? I've worked in a warehouse and a broken pallet is easier to find than a good one.
In automated facilities, the inspection of pallets is crucial. There are several inspections of the state of the pallet and the Load Unit before it enters the circuit. If the pallet is not under the programmed conditions it is rejected. You can see how this inspection unit works in this animation: ruclips.net/video/qeVUcnCqp84/видео.html

In times of covid-19 every warehouse wishes it were truly 100% automated.
Based upon profit alone, many many companies look for solutions to remove employees from their operations.
It will eliminate alot of warehouse jobs. These jobs are lousy jobs, so this could be good news.
Where will many people work? Will people be trained in robotics, automation, and construction?
Hmm. I'm curious hpw much this mega project cost to build?

Nice clip! But why they need so much inventory? 270.000 pallets. Thats way to much. With Lean Production you never had 270.000 pallats inventory. Only produce what the customers need!
Thanks Felix for your comment. Certainly is a huge inventory. For your information, this warehouse is in a current expansion to finally accommodate a total of 95,140 pallets, (only in this warehouse). You can learn more here: www.mecalux.com/news/porcelanosa-venis-warehouse-expansion
How well does that work when you have trouble getting raw materials? When suppliers have delays, are your customers going to be happy? When a supplier goes out of business and you have to scramble to find a new one, wouldn't it be nice to have a supply on hand to cover until you do?
My wife is a buyer and complains about these things all the time.
only if every warehouse was like this.
But it's all a fake promotional dream. I bet the guys who work there talk about pallets getting dropped or at least bottom boards falling off as the crane flies upwards. There's a 99% chance that stuff fails or screws up. But the promotional video will say it's all 100% perfect.

look at this hell.
You'd think they'd have this figured out by now.
They have had this type of stuff for years with picker forks. "They would've figured it out" doesn't account for the fact that regardless how it's designed, you ALWAYS ALWAYS get pallets that break, machines that drop stuff, stuff falling off pallets from way up high.... if you've actually been in a high stacked warehouse you'd see that this is an animation dream, but the reality is a LOT messier. And sometimes the sheer BS you have to go thru to unblock the screwups actually makes it easier to use an older system.

I worked for Porcelanosa in the USA as the Spaniard like to say but unfortunately they do not invest in the US market as they do in their European market. Also floors and interior and exterior facades are nice unfortunately everything Noken sells regarding showers , tubs, etc.. is to small for your average American as they tend to be small sinks , mirrors and tubs...
This is fantastic! We are getting ever nearer the noble goal of 100% unemployment for humans!
@@LegendLength Sign me up! Now, if we can just get machines to do all the other stuff humans do, we can all just shoot ourselves through the roof of the mouth! Or, better yet, get a machine to do it for us!
Do not worry. It's just a lack of intelligence and the ability to observe. Over the years you may learn.
When the machines arrived to pave the roads they said the same thing "oh what a shame. They are taking people's jobs away"
When they invented the washing machine they also said the same thing.
With each improvement in society, for humans to stop doing tasks that destroy their health, there is some idiot who is against it.

😃😃😃
And you want to know why the product that comes out of this warehouse is so expensive.... One thing this video won't tell you is how much all of the robotics and specialized racking costs. Not fully automated when it can't pick individual cases/pieces. No word on down time, software glitches, dirty sensors, broken pallets, etc. which all of these machines have issues with. Yes, all of these machines call in sick, take vacations and take FMLA. It's called down time. No cost to production ratios including down time mentioned in comparison to a full forklift/pallet truck faculty. Believe me folks, the only person that is paying for these outrageously expensive robots and racking is the consumer when prices for goods are passed on to them. The product vendor and warehouse ultimately pay nothing. All the while, the person that sold this robot to the company that owns the warehouse just bought a new island off the coast of Bermuda and is laughing all the way to the bank. As far as loss of jobs go, yes there are loss of jobs. No, the employees that used to run manual equipment before robotics came on the scene are not trained to operate, fix and repair these robots. These machines are built and set up by a third party under contract. That same third party (usually foreigners) stays with the machine and operates and repairs it for the life of the machine at lower wages and less benefits than that of the forklift/pallet truck operators that they replaced. These are rich man's toys that they can wave around as bragging rights to other corporations or LLC's that don't have them. They're nothing more than trophies that sit on a shelf. The mystery of inflation is that there isn't one. It's all of this tech and robotics that is causing much of today's inflation, and we are all paying for it unnecessarily. You wonder why the price of automobiles went up tens of thousands of dollars over the years? No. Not unions. Yes. It's robotics. Maybe some day when robots become sentient they will unionize and a little justice will be served.
no need human any more, that s fork lift instead by folk lift robot by automatic on lane :)
0:50 Wow, extremely poor space utilization.

Breakdowns 🤣
This is the future. Mass unemployment because of automation.
This'll create more jobs for other stuff. Mass production is a machine's job, always has been.
@@stealthxg5045 It might create new types of jobs, but there will be far fewer people to do those jobs. That's a result of automation anyways. Many of the newer jobs will require more training.
@iEntertain Don't expect the quality of work to get better with automation. They will make people robot _assemblers_ .
Making the cables for robots is not too fun. And, it can be straining on your hands. Hopefully, they will do some volume and have machines to help you.
There are crimping machines, that crimp on some connectors, so that step isn't too bad.
And the people that do the software and hardware are a very small percentage in robot organizations.
And, it may require over 1 year of training. But, companies aren't willing to train or promote employees from within, so you can be stuck at the bottom as an assembler. You might get to do some testing also, but only at the simpler level.
