Excellent tips👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.. But I'm facing problems with those recommendation letters. I was initially preparing for JEE examinations and was in a private coaching institute at Patna. However I always was really very passionate for astronomy. It was recently, amidst the lockdown, when I changed my mind and explored my options since IITs doesn't have a major in Astronomy. My (best) options are MIT, Harvard, Caltech, Yale, Princeton, and others. Here's the list of my problems. 1) The teachers who taught me and know me are very very good at physics, chemistry, & maths. Excellent. But they don't have such a good command in English language. Then how are they gonna write a strong letter of recommendation for me? 2) Like most of the JEE aspirants I don't attend school, just my coaching institute. So I don't have any English teacher cuz they focus only on PCM. No sports, no arts, no extracurriculars, nothing but, PCM, IIT, NIT, score, percentile, rank, intelligence, competition, outshining others,😡😡😡. Since application requires atleast two letters of recommendation (as far as I know one from science or maths teacher and other from English,arts, humanities, sports, music,etc) Where will I get other letters of recommendation from? All I did (and was bound to do, I should have aimed for astronomy right after 10th) was study study study. Now I'm just 3 months back from the deadline of my application (and I haven't taken SAT yet, my eyes just opened). I know how difficult it is to get to these colleges. Do I stand a chance????? Should I focus on my dream or on JEE??? Some students who are currently at Harvard/recently graduated actually went to PACE junior college or were preparing for IIT/PACE, so they definitely have those situations, it's more about how you demonstrate interest, what you've done, and share. Regarding the teachers' English I wouldn't worry as much, it's more about how they talk about you. For arts/humanities, do you have any other teachers from 9th or 10th? You could also apply next year if you wanted to wait, and take the JEE in the meanwhile, or take a shot this year. I don't know what's best for you, only you can decide that, but whatever you choose, it's important to be well-prepared!

Usually ivy leagues and especially harvard requires you to declare your major only at the end of sophomore year Which means that you dont have to be specific about your subjects but having any specific area of interest actually helps you in the application process

Like I want to pursue software engineering but like I don't have any major achievement in this field besides science fairs and workshops. Hi Avanti, One question regarding extracurriculars.
I have often heard it say that one's extracurriculars must be associated with one's field of study. Like I want to pursue software engineering but like I don't have any major achievement in this field besides science fairs and workshops. But other than that, I am deeply passionate about music (just like you) and social service. Gardening and photography also fascinate me. So will these stats work in favor of me for getting accepted in the university?

@@groveradiator789 it's not that much. Maximum it goes to 2 crore, not more than that for sure. Most people manage to get the 4 year course done under 1 crore. So plz research before spitting out bullshit.
