For those who don't know how to navigate an inlet with a hard outgoing tide, here are some hints. Going out is not so bad, you do have to watch the fact that if you are not going faster than the tide, you can loose the ability to navigate(turn). Coming in is the tricky part. The rule you want to follow is never let your bow dip down, the tide will pull it under. The safest way is to put your bow on the back of a wave, match it's speed, and follow it in. When the wave dissipates if there are no more waves to fall off of, you can take off. One thing you have to remember. When you are maneuvering to enter the inlet and get on the back of your wave, make sure no wave sneaks up behind you and lifts your stern. This will also make your bow dive down and can be disastrous. So in summary, going in on and outgoing tide, don't go over the top of a wave and fall off and don't let a wave catch up to you from behind. Make sure you boat has enough power to keep up with the outgoing tide while pushing on a wave. This can be tricky if you think you have a super fast boat, but it's propped just for speed, it still might not have the power to keep you in position.

I have spent 8 yrs in the Royal Australian Navy, l have sailed around the world, l have been in force 10 gales on a aircraft carrier, a force 8 and 9 in a navy destroyer. I have owned a yacht, now a days lm proud to say lm a fair weather sailor, been there, done that. So when l see people who want to go out in rough seas, l just think, stupid. 😆

I expected to see at least one body fly off the second deck of the Atlantis. That was terrible. I bet some people on that trip never get on a boat again. And I’m also convinced that some people never bother to check the marine weather for current and expected conditions. They get too far gone in the inlet and say “oh, shit”.

There's been a few days that my 36 yellowfin (and me knowing what in doing at the helm) felt like not enough boat. Skill at the helm makes any boat "bigger" (meaning knowing what you are doing makes your boat handle rough stuff better then a bigger boat that has a less skilled pilot at the helm) but some times the rollers are spaced just right to really make it tough... I have never been out there in rhr 36 and felt dangerous but it will wake you up on rough days... A lot of days are pretty smooth but HO can get nasty that's for sure.

It's a stupid boat and all but fair play to the HCB skipper bringing her in smoothly on the swell. Seems like most of the others are impatient and a bit clueless.

Lots of money but no brains...notice how all the boats continue in the rough water...and big waves...but just to the sides of the inlet the water is calm. I used to live near Haulover and ran the inlet in all kinds of weather. Just past the jetty, on either side the water is deep and calm . Actually, I should say...CALMER! its still a bit rough. Note how the Hattereas 36 came in... rather than beat his brains out in the extremely rough waters...he cut in through the side where the waves are alot smaller. Hes a charter boat that runs Haulover serveral times a day and knows how to do it.

I wondered why that 36' Hatteras was so close to the jetty! Nothing beats knowledge. Lol!

I'm surprised that Atlanis boat drove sideways over those big waves, seemed like a stupid decision

I love your video and all but sometimes I think it’s proper to yell out to who ever lost there tender and tell them.even if you have to stop recording.at least by the end of the day you’ll know that you did something great and helped someone.but anyways I love your videos keep up the great work😀

That’s a small craft advisory day, even for Haulover that’s ripping.

Seatow looks like a nice retirement job in Florida.. that is if you can get a franchise.

Tender probably cost as much as the gas he burned that day.
