I have been on the fence about purchasing this knife. I have a special love for bowie knives, and was on the hunt for a low priced bowie that will get me by with the light use I would put it through. Well my friend, I placed my order, then headed over here to thank the man that made up my mind. So, thank you for taking the time to test it honestly. I think from what you have shown, this is gonna be just what I am looking for. Thanks for another great review.
I just watched your review again, and I'm ordering a second knife just in case. I got lucky with the first one, I ordered stainless and they sent me carbon. They also sent me a much better leather sheath, chocolate brown with double stitching. The knife has no flaws.
Good video, really enjoyed it. I have one of these that my Dad found at a flea market many moons ago. I dug it up out of a pile of his junk some years back. I'm old, almost 50 and I've been a cutlery dude for most of my life... Like the whole thing.... So I find it and It's crude, much cruder than yours. Same Pakistani knife, different craftsman. I picked it up and despite it's looks, immediately felt the blades solidness and balance. Nifty in hand for a big Bowie. The sheath is junky but has a sweet Babylonian style deer and fern embossed into the black leather, which though thin appears tough and rugged. I knew instantly after handling it this was a knife worth saving. The blade was crudely hammered into it's shape and the grind is low, like yours. It was dull as a butter knife when I found her, but she took a quick biting edge with little work. Must be carbon steel, though the only marking on the blade is PAKISTAN. The ugly wood handle provides a very secure grip and is actually well fitted and solid as a rock... as is the dirty brass hilt, whose ends are more pointy than yours. This is a dirty blade for dirty work and I dig it.... Great review brother, you did it justice.

Well, I purchased a 2nd one off Amazon, and the handle was rounded on the corners, and there was less rust on the blade. Interestingly, the sheath wasn't as good, and there was rust on the handle tang. The tang and spine on the 2nd one was also a consistent 4_mm thick. I'm sending back the 1st one, because I can remove the tang rust on the 2nd one, apply my heat shrink grip, sharpen it, and I'm ready to go.
I would keep both. Take one apart, sand it, then blue it. Trim the guard, make new scales and JB Weld it all back together. I already did two different customs. The knives look amazing
@@DonnieBAllDay unfortunately I just got back from returning it at UPS. It's okay though. I kept the better sheath, and the better blade. Now I just need to get the rust off the tang edges, without compromising the handle and hand guard epoxy. I have some old Barkeeper's Friend lying around. I think if I put that on a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, that should do it. I had better read the directions, though. A lot of rust removers are also adhesive solvents. Some come ugly, but they all work. Some though if you get lucky come well polished. I just reworked the finish to my liking
Gonna buy this for my grandpa
its a good buy
This might be a stupid question, can i wd-40 my knives and place them back into the sheath. Im worried about my leather sheath absorbing the oil and ruin it. Is it possible for the oil to ruin my leather sheaths?
Not dumb and yes. I use Hoppes gun oil
Use balistol oil, it's good for the knife and the sheath
Really truly neat stuff. I do have a question about this tho. I found it on my local online distributor (they import it), but does it actually come sharp or is it like the Timber Rattler that you have to sharpen it?
The edges are hit or miss. Some come ready to go out of the box, some come needing a quick hone. They're usually sharp enough to use
@@DonnieBAllDay Sounds about right then! Pretty good for the money actually. I've never been a knife snob but I do tend to overlook cheaper knives so thanks for the valuable info!
My hands so small compared to the handle, I have wee man hands but I still love the knife
That's an easy fix. You can thin out the scales and make it perfect
what a beast of a knife
best for the price
I'm soooo tried of the SS blades that can't keep a edge ! We have oil so bring on the quality SS and hi carbon blades plz. My Szco arrives tomorrow ! Thanx
This blade is high carbon, but I have some SS blades that are much stronger than most carbon based blades out there.
@@DonnieBAllDay Yes high carbon that's that why I bought one !
@@comradeyuri8492 best $20 Bowie sold
@@DonnieBAllDay I'm looking at the Perkin 16" bowie with a blade up to 59 RC. Have you ever reviewed this bowie ? Thanks in advance.
I'm taking all my old SS blade bowies to the pawn shop this coming week. I'm all done with them so I'm replacing with higher quality bowies ! To bad the Condor has such a small handle it could get away from me.
@@comradeyuri8492 I know the Perkin, its a Rambo III rip off. Decent quality though. Remember, the HRC means nothing if the heat treat or tempering is wrong. The harder the edge, the more likely you are to get chips. I can tell you this though, my Case XX is SS and better than most high carbon blades.
What type of steel is that knife? 1045 at least?
Not sure. My guess was 1055 to 1084. Great performer
Those knives are a dime a dozen but they are built like Tanks; I had one years ago and it truly a work horse I eventually I gave it away as a gift and I regret it.
In my other video after I customized it, it's now one of my favorites to use.
@@DonnieBAllDay great candidate for the bagwell treatment!!!
Since I'm on low budget would this be long lasting knife to keep?
Absolutely
Is the steel of this version stronger then Cocobolo gold rush bowie?
They both just list their steel as high carbon with no other indications. I believe the Rockwell rating is about the same. Fit and finish is a different story.
This vid inspired me to get one
ruclips.net/video/F3mgtljAkkE/видео.html most underrated Bowie on the planet
Homie makin some pungie stix without the human feces on them for an animal trap lol I kinda like the idea, create an entire trench around your long term campsite with pungie stix in it except for a hidden entrance only you know about and I beg your ass sleeps alot better at night haha
Smarter than the average bear. Nothing like killing the killer while I rest my eyes a bit.
its different as long as it knifesits a knifeq
Another example of Tom knows his shit. Haha
When are you going to fight ? That ‘ ll be interesting to watch for all of us , bowie maniacs .
I have some old MMA training vids up, but I'm retired from fighting aside from the occasional slapping someone around.
👍🏼 🇧🇷👊
exactly
Hey buddy, awesome knife! I did a video on my channel the other day, and it's a of a new knife I bought. I think it might be the same one but I'm not 100% sure? If you get a chance to very quickly check for me or let me know id really appreciate it. Cheers. Ross.
Definitely

I'm not well in the head.
I enjoyed this video information so much..... I bought one for 23 bucks on Ebay.... Your a bad influence.....
Sometimes a bad influence brings good repercussions.
@Donnie B All Day I will tell this to my wife.... See how that goes... Will let you know.... ;-D
DBAD! I received this bad boy today! A nice hunk O steel for the price. Had to fix the edge up a bit but it's a shaving sharp now!
@@LegionTacticoolCutlery this thing will last you a loooonnnng time!
Or you can really enjoy making a new one yourself?

Définitively not à carbon steel, an 440 ! yes but not an 1095 ! This knife don 't rust
Its without a doubt carbon steel. It holds bluing. Stainless will not blue. And it will rust. I did a video on this Bowie where I removed the rust.
@@DonnieBAllDay i t S sell like à carbon steel but not it S an crappy Pakistan knife, i have one or this knife in thé past, they make thé job for thé price it S ok
@@patricegarnierlobo25111967 I am with you that most blades from Pakistan are not worth owning, but these Szco are extremely durable. This Bowie is the best in it's class at this price range. C'est formidable!
I think some of the confusion here is that sellers ship people the wrong knife on occasion. The stainless looks just like the carbon one until patina develops or until you use it. I have one and love it. Doubtful that it's actually 1095, but mine holds a very good edge and is easy to sharpen. Maybe more akiin to 1075 or the equivalent.
@@dobypilgrim6160 I don't believe they claim to be 1095. I think you're on the many with 1075. Also, Szco, unless I'm wrong, doesn't make a stainless version of this knife.
