Younger folks won't remember, but Auxerre was a mad team in Championship Manager 01/02, with a young Philippe Mexès and Djibril Cissé being "the next great thing" in that game. Always a pleasure watching these videos ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
Interesting and little sad how football is so over maybe 50-60 names and everything else is burried over a ton of buzz. Not many english narrated videos about him. Was searching to find a little more about his managing style. Thank you!
Growing up as a spurs fan one of the first campaigns I know as memorable was the 10/11 campaign as we finished above treble winners inter in the group of the ucl and then knock out ac Milan in the next round before being eliminated by Real Madrid. I’ve recently looked back at that campaign and saw auxerre were in the group stages of that campaign and then I checked their current stand point and saw they have just won the play offs to go back up into the top flight of french football. I have been wanting to do a fifa career mode with this team but didn’t know anything about the club other than they used to be a good side and now have recently spent numerous years in ligue 2, this video is a good insight into the clubs history. I can see resemblance between guy roux and bill nicholsen, both players for their clubs before going on to be manager and become the most successful manager in the clubs history.
@@afcfinners would also recommend Arthur rowe, laid a lot of the ground work that bill nick built on top of, he also advised vic Buckingham to go into management once he stopped playing (he played for 14 years at spurs), he went on to manage West Brom and won the fa cup with them in 1954 before going on to manage Barcelona and doing 2 separate stints at Ajax, he was the manager who handed cruyff his debut and is credited with creating the total football philosophy which cruyff would also go on to use during his management career.

@@Jaybale3 duly noted, must admit I hadn’t heard of him but sounds fascinating, you’ll be pleased to know vic Buckingham is on the list too
