I've never seen chickens follow their owner like a dog would. So precious 😊

When gardening, the owner turns up worms and insects that chickens want to eat. Besides regular grains owners are a source of food and companionship.

Lots of feathers and very small combs on their heads mean cold weather chickens.

You can candle the eggs after 7 days to see if they are fertile. They hatch after 21 days. Good luck I hope she has lots of babies! You can sell them when they get a little bit older.

Runner ducks...they lay wonderful big eggs, don't eat the flowers and vegetables and don't scratch everything up! Goggle them. They eat bugs and are easy to care for consider adding them as the chickens die off :)

My dad used to place fertilized Leghorn eggs under the Banty Hens. He did this, because we did not have a Banty Rooster to breed with them. As soon as the Banty hens felt the eggs under the bodies, they adopted them. They faithfully sat on the eggs until they hatched. And since Leghorns are several inches taller than Banties, all their youngsters outgrew them.

We finally built a shed-sized chicken wire cage (including a chicken wire roof) to protect our blueberries. It has a self closing door so no one forgets to close it up. Our berries are finally protected.

Here in Holland when you install a rainbarrel you buy a “regenton vulapparaat” this is an apparatus that when you install it you have to saw thru your pipe. This apparatus has an overflow into the pipe when your barrel is full. Mijn works differently, I had to drill abig hole to install the system. Also when the barrel is full the water continues down the pipe. I made a stand under my barrel zo I can use the bottom water using a tap. The barrel is wooden and completely closed so no mosquitos.

    • @annasgmlindgren

In Sweden asbestos needs to be packed into double plastic when returned to a recycling station (sometimes they charge for it.. 🫣).. But generally speaking, it is not dangerous when it is damp and in the ground, it is only the dust from it that is dangerous. But I would say the best thing is to get as much of it as possible to the recycling station, as it is not very nice to put a shovel through a big dry piece and have dust flying all over...

Great use of the potato fork. They are great for taking out old wood shingles too. Used one to do that on an old shed on our farm. Yard looks great.
Love blueberries too. Just made a cake with blueberries in it, and sourcream in the dough. Turned out great.
Looks like the Asbestos panels held together, so don't know if you need to dig up that soil they were on top of or not.

Ah I was jealous of your wood store I actually built one after seeing yours! So useful for storing materials However I agree it does not need to be right in the middle of the space. Oh well now you get to dream of what comes next for this space. Broody chickens need to be forced outside for a few minutes to eat a bit and poop...good luck getting babies they are such fun ☺️

So cute! The way they snuggle with you, too!

I live how they run to see what the heck you are doing, if people realized they have intelligence and feeling and are just like all other pets they wouldn't be eating their flesh....I can certainly appreciate a fresh egg but if you know what they do to them in the farms and processing plants you would just vomit your brains out and swear off any kind of meat forever!
