This episode is a definitely treat for horror fans like ourselves. The atmosphere, the setting, the tone is just bone chilling.
I agree 💯
Hey Charles! Agreed totally. And the timing worked out with people voting for this one around the Halloween season.
@@NyesBizarreCinema Hi Nye! 😁 Thanks for coming by.
Definitely, a thoughtful and terrifying classic of being careful of what seems the best way may not be what it seems… love this episode!
One of my all time favorite episodes. Robin is money as satan. Truly chilling episode. Great job stoked you reviewed this one. Keep up the wonderful work.
Thanks as always bro, yeah perfect timing for this one, even on a 4th or 5th rewatch I still liked it. Have a good one & thanks for checking in!
This probably my all time favorite. The Dutch angles, the writing, acting, the transformation. It packed a lot into it.
When I was a kid....this sticks out as one of the first times my hair stood up on the back of my neck...great creepy episode... awesome vid....👍💀
Bones! I did a rewatch of this at like 1am....not the best idea. 🤣 Thanks as always for checking in man.
Another outstanding review of one of the most effective episodes of The Twilight Zone.
Even today,The Howling Man is a story that camps in your brain and sets up a tent. Well done Anthony!!!
Well said! Thanks as always for watching my friend.
I would contend that the howling sounds are more goosebumpy than the devil figure decked out in his demonic regalia.
The camera angles do a good job portraying Ellington's fevered state of health, makes it easier to understand why he let The Howling Man out even though he couldn't figure why The Howling Man didn't just remove the staff himself........Interesting that all the main characters died in the 80s ~ Brother Jerome, Brother Chistopherus, The Devil and The Housekeeper yet David Ellington (H.M. Wynant) is still alive in 2023 as of today at 96 years old.
I saw that Mr. Wynant is still alive, all the best wishes to him, he was great here! Thanks for watching rawbacon - great hearing your thoughts on this entry! Be well!
Hello My friend had fun with you and Patrick on Sunday. We got to do it again. I never saw this one. The devil is loose.🤣 Very Good Thanks for sharing.
Hey Betty! Yup looking forward to another collabo & totally appreciate you stopping by and checking out some vids. Have a nice week ahead. : )
@@FeverDreamlandTheater Believe me I will be back for sure and collab with you and Patrick soon.
Easily one of my favorite episodes. Thanks for the review brother.
Hey Edmon! Glad you enjoyed it Thanks!
Absolutely my favorite episode ! That jowl is so creepy I love it and I always trip at why he didn’t pick up on the fact that the prisoner didn’t simply let himself out that in itself is the tell tell sign brother Jerome wasn’t lying .
Agreed, that was suspicious. Ellington pointed it out but the howling man didn't acknowledge that fact. Instead he just urged him on and claimed the monks were coming to get them.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater I have to say your channel and the way you comb through each episode is so good ! Your killing it !
@@danieldavis3271 Thank you Daniel, that's great to hear. I appreciate it. 🤜🤛
I saw this one as a little boy and I loved it (despite Hughes' transformation scaring me half to death.) Sadly, it gets overlooked by the other Devil stories in the show (i.e. Printer's Devil, Of Late I Think of Cliffordville.) Anything with John Carradine getting a chance to ham it up is good by me! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Carradine was fantastic, he had so many great lines, all of which were delivered as only he coudl!
I've been waiting for this one for some time, my friend! The Howling Man is for sure on my top 10 episode list and I am very partial to Charles Beaumont scripted episodes. It is an exceptionally well done slow burn story that builds itself up to an amazing payoff. I also love stories that play the audience to make you really wonder who you should believe and root for. The moment when he realizes there is nothing actually holding the Howling Man in the prison cell other than the staff and his subsequent transformation scene still sends chills down my spine to this day. It has an interesting moral to the story which always makes things more impactful as well. Can't wait for the next one sir! One day I would love to see Black Leather Jackets!
Hey Cinecrisis, glad you dug this one. It's always interesting to find out which are everyone's favorites as I run through these. My favorite part about the scene you noted is when Ellington, mentions the staff, the Howling Man is slick, like a politician, he doesn't give a direct answer. Instead he just urges him on saying, 'there's no time, the monks are coming and will kill them both.' Good stuff. Thanks as always for stopping by man, be well! 🤜🤛
One of my favorite moments of this piece is when you hear an deep agonizing howl the man turns to the Monk and says "What was that "? Momk. "The wind" When I was a teen I couldn't stop laughing. Great show fantastic reviews as always.
YES, that is such a great moment! 🤣 Not sure I have ever heard wind how that clearly in my life. LOL
@@FeverDreamlandTheater I don't think you have?? but if you have not please do THE NEW EXIBIT. hope it's on your list. and Obsolete Man. Thanks again
"Ooh Lala!" haha... brilliant. Another superb TZ review Anthony! I haven't seen this episode yet so I have added it to my watchlist. Always enjoy watching your overviews, cheers dude!
Thanks Greg, much appreciated. 👍💯 This was another interesting entry. It's really good watch around Halloween.
Incredible work as always Anthony. Bravo
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video as always Anthony!! I’ll have to check this one out.
Heeey Sydney, wassup. 😁No doubt, this is one that's a good entry point into the series. Great to hear from you. Hope you've been well!
@@FeverDreamlandTheater same to you!!🤗
Glad to see you posting Anthony here watching my friend 😊🥰
Thanks Hilda! Much appreciated! 😊😊😊
The SINGLE greatest Twilight Zone episode!
Great video. Although full confession I had to watch it twice. Because when I saw it the first time after the Marty McFly clip I couldn’t stop laughing. Laughed so hard I started coughing.
All serious, great video.
Glad you liked that man! My humor is very random. LOL, I appreciate the watch and time to comment as well watchwaddle. Have a good weekend!
1:28 Me encanta este enfoque de la camara. Y luego la transicion desde la ventana hacia la tormenta y el momento en que llega a la puerta del monasterio. Con esa musica de fondo. Todo es perfecto.
Great job as always Anthony. This one sounds chilling. I’m wrestling with the hoof or the whole devil. I think as a kid or teen, I’d have said “I’m here to see the devil”. These days however, a suggestion would be more chilling.
Awesome job! X
Ha ha, I know I'm conflicted on that too. I'm a fan of the less is more approach....but in this case I did like that dramatic reveal, ha ha. Thanks for watching Lisa!
I really enjoyed your review.
The fun fact about the director for those several episodes was very interesting.
Those episodes are definitely at the top of my LIST.
Hey Michael! Good to hear man, thanks for watching & have a good one!
This is one of my top 5 episode. It recognizes the existence of “The enemy a mankind” and it’s greatest strength against man “Lies”
Sounds like another great episode that I need to watch. The twist might’ve been predictable but the reveal is great. Great video, Anthony!
Aw thanks CG, much appreciated. : )
Perfect choice for spooky season. I so remember this one.
Hey Ariel! Thanks for the watch. : )
@@FeverDreamlandTheater You’re welcome 🤗
Oh lala is right. As you know, this is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. Solid 5 out 5 for this donut enthusiast. And some good trivia here too. Too bad Beaumont didn't continue the story. It would have lent itself well to an ongoing series about the lead hunting the Howling Man.
Great stuff as always, good sir. Nice use of outside clips as well.
Hey Rob! That's a cool idea, the ongoing hunt of the devil. Not sure if you ever read the original short-story, the broad strokes of the story are still there but there's some interesting little differences too. Anyway, be well man!
Genius idea 💡 could make a great series! Start from the beginning and move forward or backwards endless possibilities bravo my man ! Now too find someone to write a script
@@danieldavis3271 I nominate Ant. He knows a little something about Devil chasing.
Is John Caradine, David Caradine's father? Just wondering, wow, the transition or transformation was well done for such a old show. Haven't watched this one but looks like it would be a interesting watch for sure.. Excellent job Anthony💥💥💥
Hey Cirespeed! Yup that is the Carradine family. I'm familiar with David from Kung-Fu and Kill Bill, Robert Carradine from Revenge of the Nerds and Keith Carradine from Dexter, but they've been in so much. Thanks for watching bro!
I've got some catching up to do with your videos. There's something comforting about watching your TZ reviews, I've gotten so used to watching them. What are we gonna do when you run out of episodes!? Here's another episode I missed but I'm eager to check out. I'm always intrigued by themes of evil/the devil/hell.
Aw thanks. : ) That is awesome to hear. Well there are 156 episodes and at the pace I go, it will be a while, lol.
Sounds like a great one to catch up with on the run up to Halloween!! Awesome insight as always! :)
Thanks SciFIRST!
Thanks
🤟💯💯💯 Dude, I owe you many a beer if you ever visit the USA. Thank you! Much appreciated.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater No I feel I owe you for being such a wonderful inspiration and a valued supporter as well. Best I stick to the club soda. Been off the sauce for a year now. Been to the Twilight Zone enough times in the past due to alcohol. Much prefer getting my fix of weirdness here on your exceptional channel. Best wishes to you
Great review Anthony - I love all the tidbits of information as usual!
Much appreciated Mr. Dan! Thanks man.
This is another great episode I love to watch! The mood and atmosphere reminds me somewhat of the classic Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows.
You nailed it, it totally has the dark Shadows vibe! If this had also been one of the videotaped episodes then it would have felt like that even more. Thanks for watching river guy.
Definetly in my top 5 favorite episodes.
The guy who plays the devil always reminded me of Peter O'Toole
Hey JC! Ah yes, I can definitely see the resemblance to Peter.
This is awesome, I have never seen this one. This is my kinda episode. I’ll give it a watch. Perfect choice for spooky season Anthony! 🎃
Hey Karen. : ) Thanks for coming by! No doubt, if you get a chance, its well worth it.
It has been said that the movie "Ex Machina" is a remake of " The Howling Man " Great vid.
Now that is interesting. I have not seen Ex Machina in years so I'll have to look out for that on a rewatch. Thanks Erik, have a great week ahead.
One of my favorite episodes .
One of my favorite episodes if not THE favorite episode.
One of my favorite episodes! Fantastic job!
Hey Bisness! Much thanks man!
I think using the Croziers instead of crosses helped the plot of the lie...this is not a religious order but a group of outcasts. Like finding cults hidden in the Appalachians or Rockies that are not legit religious orders.
A very spooky episode
😁
Hey Anthony! Great review I have to check this episode out.
Selina! Thanks for coming by, always good to hear from you. Yeah, this one is especially cool around this time of year. : )
I just found your playlist and really liked this review of "The Howling Man"
It's actually a forewarning of our present day gaslighting master D.Trump. How his followers can't see his real nature and believe he's being picked on.
Changing the subject, would you please review TZ's "Time and Teresa Golowitz." Their banter near the end of the episode makes me feel I'm missing some humor about where he's going.
Made 62 years ago but the star is still alive and working still. H.M. Wyant.
I saw that when I looked him up! Always great to see some of these cast members are not only still around, but still working. Robert Redford, Carol Burnett & William Shatner as well. All legends.
Wow! "The father of lies" is correct, then as now.
please eventually do the 1980s and early 2000s versions please
I saw this episode and it does make wonder is there a devil like creature about?
One of the best episodes of the entire series.
I hear you. 'The Howling Man' is a fav for many TZ fans. Thanks for watching John. Be well!
Such a good episode this one is.
I loved this episode but the ending always drove me crazy. The housekeeper wasted NO time opening that door. 🤦♂️
lol true...it was practically like:
"now don't open that door whatever you do...ok...wait, are you opening it right now as I'm actually telling you not to open it?
@@FeverDreamlandTheater LOL yes. Like in the midnight sun where Mrs. Bronson opens the door to the mugger! Tssk tssk. Love your channel, keep it up.
My dude literally locked the devil in his closet. I decide if that's more funny or badass. Maybe both.
ha ha, I'd say both. I'd be curious to know how he managed to track him down and lock him up.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater A trail of Reese's Pieces and a wicker basket propped up with a stick.
Classic 🔥 😱
This one is a cool one for sure being such huge fan of the series as well I don’t know what it is for me but this particular episode just has a different feel for me compared to others maybe what you said feels like a old universal horror movie? Other great job though
Wow Wow, the film story is really scary, but it's really fun
Keep it up!!
Awesome review! I did not rate this episode highly. I think the premise is quite ridiculous. A devil personna locked in a room? And howling? I suppose if you just go with it and understand anything can happen in the TZ it's fine
Hey Debbie! Aw sorry to hear this one was not one of your favs, but all the same thanks for watching. Always great hearing from you. 😁
The howling is to creep you out...however the psychology of the story would be better if he was just screaming to be let out.
The howling threw me off to as people don't howl like wolves or banchees unless they're coo coo...and should remained locked up.
I just love your videos. ❤
Thanks Adelaide! Happy to have you here! : )
Interesting that he says in the name of mercy, not in the name of God.
I might have been fooled myself. Mercy is supposed to be good. But then again, nothing mortal howls like that.
Agreed, that howling was super creepy. Yikes. And yes, good catch - interesting choice of words there.
Incredible work as always Anthony. Bravo
Hey T! Thanks so much man. This was a fun one to run through.
