- 19-year-old Antonio Abrom is a record-setting kart racing champion who recently began his journey in Miata racing. His story is one of overcoming challenges, developing his talent, and sharing his love of racing with his father.
In this interview, we sat down with Tony & Antonio Abrom, a father and son racing team based out of Cartersville, Georgia. Looking for ways to bond with his son, Antonio's father introduced him to kart racing at Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP). Little did he know, this would spark a passion nested deep inside him.
Our interview touches on Antonio's career, covering his journey from starting a kart racing team, becoming senior champion, and into the team's recent transition to Spec Miata racing.
We also hit the emotional side of the Antonio Abrom Racing Team. Being on the road consistently and lacking sponsors presents many challenges for this father and son team. You'll hear their inspiring story about how these challenges have strengthened the bond between the two and the positive impact it had on Antonio's life.

He’s such a good boy, I’m so proud of him.
Glad to see my teammate's story in its entirety :) I related to much of it... just that I didnt even consider racing or karting like this as like a real possibilty until i was almost done with college.
The best part about racing is the focus and immediate consequences. It is the ultimate video game and there is nothing like it.
I love the connection between the car and driver too.
And the racing atmosphere, nothing like the smell of red hot brakes in the morning lol

This shows how important it is to have your parents and have their support. It would be nice if gets sponsorship but like any pro sports, it doesn't happen for everyone. That is another lesson learned in life. Also there is more important things in life
Certainly. I go back and forth on the idea of sponsorship, and whether it’s worth pursuing since we have our own plan that works for us
It broadens his potential, but it isn’t everything. Just like racing isn’t everything. But at the end of the day a closed mouth doesn’t get fed and I’d rather have said something and get rejected than continue down a path of unnecessary resistance.
