100K...I honestly CANNOT believe it. I've changed so much since this video came out, but I've only grown more fond for the series as a whole. Thank you all for watching, it means the world. Should I make more Yuri on Ice content? Let me know!
What I notice: They kissed two times. One when it was censored and when Victor kissed Yuuri's ring, Yuri kissed his own ring with his lips. Victor did too and their lips touch,thanks to the ring they got a second kiss!! Maybe I'm just making this up..;
Lol. I think you have to be Canadian to truly appreciate the JJ scene. I mean, JJ is an obnoxious ass; we all know that. But it was great to see my country portrayed as standing behind their representing athlete and cheer him on despite the major flub of his routine. That, and it's just good sportsmanship.
I actually think Yuri felt both things you said. He was worried Viktor wasn’t interested in him anymore, that he liked the other ones better (person and skating skills), and he also thought that he missed competing. So when he said: “end this”, he referred to the coach-trainee relationship. He said this because: a) He had anxiety and thought he was the worst competitor so it was better to give up and don’t let see Viktor how bad he is (this is just his perception of course), and b) To get Viktor skating again. Also, Viktor started crying because with “end this”, although he meant the coach-trainee relation he felt like the whole relationship would end. All this because their romantic relationship is based and started on the sport relationship. Although they kissed, we have no actual proof of them having an established relationship apart of the one being coach-student. So even if they had one, it would be built with the sport relationship first. Summing up, Viktor felt that without the sport relationship, there wouldn’t be any relationship.
i thought so too because he was always reminded that he Viktor needs to be back on the ice by other skaters so it ate at him and he started to believe it was the best decision regarding how Viktor felt
Well, that's interesting because I especially liked this scene in the English dub. The way Victor says "I'm mad" while still maintaining his Russian accent made me respect the voice actors a lot. On top of that I believe that the different accents in the dub make the show feel more realistic but that's just my opinion.
i always interpreted victor watching everyone skate as that sort of melancholy feeling you get watching your friends do something you've just quit after so many years. you still have your reasons for quitting, but watching your friends do something you're so used to doing with them makes you miss the good parts of it. i work at a ballet school and see it a lot from our older dancers who quit before graduating and then come to watch rehearsals/preformances. it doesn't change your mind, you just miss the good times you had with the sport.
Thanks for the vid! I agree. I think Yuri realized he was robbing Victor of his dream, and wanted to give that back to him. JJ’s panic attack and anxiety issues spoke to me. Also Yurio’s reaction to the crowd still loving JJ was hilarious.
Tbh I'm happy to see someone point this out When I saw it for the first time I just thought Yuri was jealous because Of Victor but when I thought about it it had more into it and then actually when Yuri wanted to end their Couch And Student Relationship I actually Thought he meant both their Relationship and the Couch and student Relationship but now when someone finally points it out is good because there must be people who misunderstood those scenes including me I just want to say this video was very helpful for me at least and I hope you continue doing what you love.
Actually in the 12th episode they both agree to keep up the student/coach partnership for the next season in hopes that Yuri will win the Grand Prix Finals and earn a gold medal.
I love you for such a wonderful explanation. Please allow me to hold your hand at least once if we ever meet ,though i live in India so its quite unlikely 'cos even India is not small.
I was *SO* nervous this was going to be bad video saying how their relationship isn't canon and blah blah blah, and was so relieved at the really good, deep character analysis!!!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. You made me feel that I was not a paranoid for thinking about the unveiled meanings of the acts made by the characters. It was a relief.
its nice to see that im not the only one who understand these. the fandom need to realize that yuri on ice its realistic well we need to think realistic reaction not crazy thing we find normaly in anime
That's how I saw it, too - that Yuuri saw Victor as wanting/needed to get back into competition. I can see, however, how Victor might have misinterpreted Yuuri's "let's end this" statement. Because IMO neither one of them is good at direct communication. :)
Im so exited now to see the nest season!!! Thanks for the thought on who might win, your opinion opened up the question I've been dying to find an answer to!
After watching this episode this is LITERALLY what I was thinking cause it was so obvious there was some hidden meanings and the fact there was a change in the OP raised my suspicions. Bro thank you for making this cause I would’ve gone insane
I've never watched YOI before, so when I saw/heard Yuri said 'after the final, let's end this' I was like, "he must meant like all of those protagonists that want to be the winner right? I don't see the problem here," and then the next second you said it and I was like, "oh, so that's what happened lmao".
Wow! Thank you so much for 1,000 views! I never expected to get this many, especially since the anime has been over with for 4 months now! I will definitely be making more of these in the future. Thanks again!
It was nice to hear your thoughts about it. If it comes to JJ, I think that scene was beautiful. The only one, where I was crying. Well... I didn't like him, but support from his fans was so touching.
I guess I was pretty late in watching your theory, but when I watched episode 11, I interpreted that Victor looked excited because he was thinking of what to do for Yuri's future programs. Also I was surprised that people were caught off guard by Yuri telling Victor to 'end this' because he literally said in the end of episode 9 that he was going to have Victor resign as his coach no matter what he gets in the Grand prix final?
I think people were thrown off because of the airport scene (I don't remember what episode that's from) where he says that he wants Viktor to be his coach forever.
Oh, well at the airport scene Yuri told Victor to be his coach until Yuri retires, and Yuri said beforehand that he would retire after the grand prix finals...I guess the sub wasn't very good so people got a little confused
While first watching this I thought for a very short moment that he ment a relationship brake up. I intaprated it this way seconds after it...I kinda thought everybody does. I still felt shocked and treated it like a brake up.. probably because it felt like that for Victor (I guess). They also had this "I wish we could be like this forever" "Is that a marriage proposal?" moment. Like the coaching would be linked to the relationship. It felt like a brake up, but I knew that it doesn't really meant there relationship is over. (Not the Eros part and definitively not the Agape part)
I kinda feel like I wasted my time watching this because I already knew that he meant he wanted victor to skate again, but... I enjoyed the video and the way you talk
Here I am watching this and the movies about to come out soooo this guy was right about victor getting back on the ice and we know this because of the movies trailer that came out.
i know this was 4 years ago but dang, i can’t wait for the movie + yuri and victor are so close in age i forget because of victors hair but dang! this ship could work and i’m all for it
i honestly knew their student-teacher relationship was being referred before this video and i honestly thought others thought of it that way too but when he stated about others stating their REAL relationship with eachother, i was a bit surprised XD

Great video! Thank you for that
I love your videos to and Yuri on ice
omg yes !!
yessss!!
I'd love to see a relationship where they're openly a couple but they compete with each other like it's a little game for them.
We may see that in season 2 ;)
Hopefully she decides it's best for their dynamic.
If Yuri wins, they get married

Do we still need to ship them? Isn't they are canon?
Uh,,but they’re canon lmao
uh idk I think they might be friends... maybe best friends? idk /j
They still can’t get married though, because victor said that they could only marry after yuri won gold... lol victor what have you done?

He's about as unstereotypically Canadian as it gets haha
One of my favorite bits in the series is when the guy with the Canadian flag runs across the audience haha
we were born to ship viktuuri! they are soulmate, i cant unship them lmao. Anyways good video!

Tbh, the last thing about ending the relationship didn't caught me off guard since the video I watched said "After this, I'll be retiring"
TheCrazyLittleGirl 20 Yeah, the English subs were pretty confusing
when he inserted the clip of yuri saying lets end this, i was bracing myself for the horrid english dubbed, but was pleased with the subbed version :)

Am I the only one that thought that he was referring to the coaching at first?
I thought he was referring to both
No, I thought that aswell, I didn't even realise most people thought tget were taking about their relationship instead
