I'll try to keep this short my dear Otis. I just want to thank you for what you do. I came across your channel about two years ago during Covid and it immediately gave me great comfort and solace. A kind of musical community at a distance. An East Nashville of the mind! I was born in the UK and live in France. I'm pushing 60 and I've always been in some bar band or another since I was eighteen (and that's still the case), but I have a love of country, folk and bluegrass that not many of my bandmates have ever shared. They're mostly just rockers who look down on country in their ignorance. So it's the stories that get me: the stories in the songs and the stories about the songs and the stories about the people who made the songs happen. Through your channel I've got to "meet" some wonderful folks who are generous, open and often funny as hell and I've heard some great tales. It's your great gift to the word (apart from 'Ghosts of our Fathers'), my friend, to hold the door open into a world so rich and yet so down to earth. Thing is - and I couldn't keep it short sorry - is that I just wanted you to know your channel keeps getting better and better. Even better. My wife and I listen to your Saturday diehards with our cup of coffee and all's right with the world for half an hour. Keep on chooglin' and thanks again man.
I love hearing every single Prine story you share here. This one made me laugh the hardest, and damn right John doesn't need an introduction. I completely agree that the way that night ended was the best way to go.
Thanks for the videos, Mr. Gibbs. I learn something new just about every time. I often wondered why artists often don't get "proper" introductions. I now know that they just let their music do the talking. Much love back to you.
I must have jogged past Prine's house dozens of times. My in-laws lived two doors down. They didn't know who he was and I didn't know he was there. I only found out years later.
Love you both. Great conversations and better stories and storytelling! So happy I stumbled onto you both. Surprised me to see Joe in one of your videos.
Hello from Idaho Otis, I owe my songwriting life to Prine, Van Sandt, Clark. You include them. Words cannot convey how thankful I am for your videos and work, love your music too. I wrote what may be a great song called John Prine's Moon. ❤🙏 miaedsall
I saw John Prine walk out on-stage w/ a monkee and an organ grinder. The 3 of them did the entire show together. It was at Louisville's Palace Theatre. I'll believe any John Prine story. I saw him over 50 times,, including once at Louisville's Memorial Auditorium when I crashed a Prine family after show party. They had a garbage can full of PBR and a table full of White Castle hamburgers. I'll believe any John Prine story. He is my second favorite artist, on the heels of Neil Young. RIP Handsome Johhny.

Just watched Zippy the Chimp on the Ed Sullivan show. He wore pants and a tee shirt, roller skated( jumping through a hoop at the same time), riding a bicycle, and smoking. Kinda sad, really.
Joe Pug's one of the funniest guys you've had on, recalling being told by hot-rod driving, joint-smoking Al Bunetta: "Never trust anybody who says 'Trust me' unless they're saying 'Trust me, I don't give a fuck'"
here thanks otis and joe pug yall inspired juleys otis to hit pause and write lil lyric some day maybe poor ole space monkey will retire with honors and get to connect with his true love the roller skating chimp who has a heart full as an imp and our sad space monkey will get to be happy again and to roller skate even wouldnt that be swell well one can dream SJR SF NM May 22 2023

What a funny story! Heard Joe sing Paradise in Annapolis a few weeks ago. He did it justice, and then some. Keep up the great stories, both of you!

Awesome story
It may have been the legendary "Zippy" who was really hell on wheels.
Just watched Zippy the Chimp on the Ed Sullivan show. He wore pants and a tee shirt, roller skated( jumping through a hoop at the same time), riding a bicycle, and smoking. Kinda sad, really.
