Well Glenn had better hurry up about getting all the Samhain records reissued. He mentioned he was going to do it a while back in an interview but I dunno if that's on the backburner now because of Misfits or not.
I think Glens busy with comic book conversations these days rather then reissues on Plan 9 plus how many times can collectors keep buying reissues before the originals loose their value? Yet common still for a Samhain OP selling for $300 easy. Makes me wish i never sold a lot of Old records and tapes yet materialism gets boring and usually every year I move so RUclips works just fine. Whatever happened to Glens "blackest of the black" music festival? He seemed to be direct competition with Sharon's Ozfest. Personally if my past band was asked to gig Ozfest I'd decline or quit the band if mates were against not playing and the same applies to opening for the Misfits. I know it'd be cool music and party wise yet I'm dead against any band " paying to play" which stands absolutely against all of punk rocks DIY underground roots.
Jerry Only makes the opening local support bands buy a certain amount of tickets from him to ensure seats are sold and then venues like the Opera House in Toronto, a venue large enough yet not massive to make it look a lot bigger then it actually is ( the entire music business is all based on illusions, deciept, lies and gree d) the local support bands required to sell merchandise yet a 20% kickback to the venue, the same % probably only made in the first place so what's the point in losing or agreeing to loose money to be on the same gig with Jerry Onlys version of the Misfits? You think big picture and pull a SteveO and rent a bus and bring a bus full of Belleville Punks along with the band as he did with Aura Snow when they opened for The Misfits !!!
Silver Star Winner #117 🏆 Awesome 👍 album!!!!! Highly recommend by most Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig fans, I assume, no doubt, though, I haven't heard this album in years. I still love the Hits " In my Grip 💪", Let the Day Begin ", and "Mother of Mercy ". Before I go, I always try my best to recommend something that rocks. For those who love this album, Enjoy. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Star Winner all the way.😊😊😊
Just the look of the lava lamp and wall with the covers of the vinyl sends chills down my spine when I was in my early twenties travelling with a local band and seeing Samhain when they very first started and playing Misfits all weekend long. Dang that was 85'-86'. Unbelievable how shitty things have gotten since then, best days of my life.
People don't understand how influential this album actually is, everyone thinks misfits is the defining Danzig sound, but any band that is associated in the smallest way to Glenn Danzig usually rips off this albums song structures. It's quite possibly the Glenn Danzig bible
Danzig DOESN'T make it easy to like him... But he gets NOWHERE NEAR the credit he deserves for how INSANELY PROLIFIC he was from MISFITS right on through Dz IV --in completely different genres & modes of musicality
I had "Initium" and "The Final Decent", but the thief got that shit, too years back, unfortunately. I'm glad at times I can still see it on YT on spare time.
