Ive got one of these... there seems to be a distinct lack of 3.5mm waterproof jack options for things like ptt connecting to earpro. Which is weird because this little guy is probably the best built HT for exactly that kind of use. Hell, id be happy with just a solid (no wire) adapter to fit all the normal 3.5mm jacks.
I love this radio. I’ve had mine for about 6 years now. After my son became a ham he requested the same radio. I wasn’t going to say no 😂. It’s funny though you get a couple of famous RUclipsrs finally discover this rugged radio then everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Yeasu has a great product here and I hope they don’t mess with it. I use a SignalStick with BNC and a bnc stubby and the Long Ranger with it. But if I’m on the water I stick with the stock rubber duck to keep the radio 100% waterproof. 73’s
Yup, I did some short videos about 4 years ago, ruclips.net/p/PLQhw75mY0x4xSqTOUqsLmlkxCwgtoqQx5&si=tVmD89YDthQCimhb, decided to do one big video, but you are right, the big influencers like this radio.
You can't, those are built in, even when you use a program to upload your frequencies, those are standard to the radio. Who know, there might be a hack.
You DON'T press a PTT without a matched antenna attached, Frank. It can damage or destroy the output stage of the radio. Take heed, beginners, this was a poor demonstration.

FRANK! What a legend this guy is. I still reference his videos years later
Thanks I appreciate that.
I did the MARS mod on mine, it gives you a 4th band, 6 meters.
Which antenna do you like for 6 meters? I heard that people use a vx-8 antenna.
@@frankwc0othanks!
Great video, you are my go to for info on the VX 6r.

@@frankwc0o I like the VX6R better then the ft60. Just personally preference.
WX on is when your radio switches automatically to weather channels and back to your scanning
WX off will not interrupt your scanning channels
How do you unlock the other bands like AM and Air? I just got mine and all it has is 1-3. Can't enter anything outside 140/220/430.

Como gravar uma frequência no Vx6r???

Pressing the PTT just brings you out of the menu. You need to press PTT twice to TX.
@@EricWyomingprobably don’t have a Yaesu. You have to press the ptt on all of them for menue selection lol 😂.
Why are you screwing around with this radio without the antenna attached? I guess you want to risk blowing it up. 😊
